Why isn't this place listed as one of the top 5 chicken sandwiches in the KC area?

From the beginning we were greeted when we walked in and our order was promptly taken. We found a table and waited as our food was being prepared. The restaurant is very clean and you can tell the owners care about keeping it that way. This is always a good sign within food establishment. With only a few tables open, due to covid restrictions, there were many people with to go orders. Our order came out promptly, and the food was boxed up as it was ordered to go. No problem there, I'm sure that's another pandemic response that restaurants have had to overcome over this past year.

Our group all ordered something different from the menu. Our order came out fresh and 100% complete. How often does that happen these days? As each person started to dig in and get down to business, everyone was quiet while slowly realizing that we just found one of the best chicken sandwiches in KC.

I'm a fan of the Nashville Hot chicken sandwich. My sandwich was perfectly fried and dipped in a pleasantly sweet, not too hot, hot sauce. The brioche bun was firm and not soggy. My sandwich was topped with a piece of swiss cheese and sweet grilled onions. This was one of the best Nashville Hot Chicken sandwiches I've ever tried.

I'll stop in again to try the wings. If you're looking for something new and authentic this is the place to start.

This place was fantastic. The owner was super friendly, and I can't overstate how delicious the chicken and donut sandwich was. The original is sweet, but I ordered the deluxe option which included an egg and bacon, which helped cut through the sweetness and balanced it out. The chicken inside was moist and brought the whole thing together.
Didn't have the wings, but based on how good the sandwich was I'm ready to head back just to give them a try.

ALL I CAN SAY IS WOW!!! 100% honesty my husband and I drove from Grain Valley to try this spot. I was skeptical, and the drive didn't help. 10000000000000% worth the drive! The service is amazing! Friendly. Attentive. I loved it. But let's get to the chicken! Lord thank you! I can't describe the joy we had eating! Amazing amazing amazing chicken! Hot. Juicy. Fresh. Full of flavor. I had wings AND tenders!! I'm talking BOTH! The breading, seasoning, I could go on! I have to shout out the MAC AND CHEESE AGAIN! It is the BEST Hands down! (And I worked in the industry for 13yrs!) The best I've ever tasted in a restaurant!!! I ate mine, and ordered more to take home. Just ate it a day later and it's STILL BOMB! I'm upset I didn't get more! And the donuts... lord! Icing on the cake! This food taste like HOME!!! Like your Grandma's chicken and your mama's Mac ND cheese! Please please please support! I'm pushing them on my FB, IG, Snap, TikTok, the whole 9!!! Hidden gem!!! Try try try! We will be new regulars!!! Thank you Brown Sugar!!!

This place is phenomenal!! We had to wait about 10 minutes for our food, but, worth every second.
Got the deluxe donut sandwich (egg, bacon, fried chicken on a glazed donut) and the Wyandotte Loaded Fries (cilantro sour cream. Queso, pico, fries) and loved every bite!

SO happy I found this place! This will definitely be in my regular rotation of lunch stops, from now on!!

Very new place just opened but the food is great and the staff is friendly! The restroom and dining area was very clean. Food is a little on the pricey side but it's worth it for the quality and flavor. The chicken sandwich I was was great! Very juicy, tender, crispy and the flavor was on point. 👌🏽 Taste like someone's skilled mom made the food at home from scratch! I'm coming back here soon and eating the 🐔 🍩 🥪 for sure.

Black owned establishment first time visiting today. Food taste good with very reasonable pricing. Ordered pick up online good customer service and love the artwork. Purchased a tote $15 love the phrase on it.

Best chicken n waffles place in MO. My family and I visited this hidden gem on our way to the KC airport and it was absolutely worth it. The vibe is chill, there’s local art all over, vast seating + outdoor seating, and ALL their food is AMAZING.

If you haven't tried out Brown Sugar & Donuts, I'm not sure we can be friends. The chicken donut breakfast sandwich was excellent. The chicken was perfection. The donuts were light and a nice palate cleanser, so tasty. This family ran business is something I love to see. The people were polite and very patient with us trying to figure out what we wanted to eat. The atmosphere is very great, with all the art on the wall. I wanted to take some home with me, maybe next time. Can't wait to go again, maybe I'll go for lunch or Chief's game day wings, I'm not sure. Love the food, the people, and everything about this place.

The chicken was hot and the donut had extra glaze on it! I liked the vibe and the music for brunch.

Who knew this combo was a thing? I sure didn't. I love the various sauces that they have and the donuts are delicious. The chicken is seasoned well. The wings & strips are all are a good size. The fries are excellent.
The place is well lit & clean. The staff is so kind & friendly. I love how KCK is starting to branch out and become it's own entity for eating establishments. We've already been back several times & I'm sure we'll be coming back a lot more.

With regards to COVID-19 guidelines, place was very spaced out for physical distancing and the cashier was wearing a mask.

We ordered a KC Chicken Biscuit, an Egg and Cheese Biscuit with Turkey Sausage and a half dozen donuts. Both came with a side of tots.

All of it was delicious. The biscuits were fluffy, the chicken was fried well, and the tots were great. Donuts were good too.

Place was excellent. Will definitely be back to try more soon!

We work at a fried chicken restaurant, but decided to try Brown Sugar, and the five of us were not disappointed. We had a variety and no surprise the chicken and donut was the favorite, and we also really enjoyed the Wyandotte Fries. Service was a bit slow as a 30 minute ahead call in still took another 15 minutes after I arrived. It’s a relatively new place in a strange time, so hopefully they get the timing down, but as for the food we highly recommend.

Came into town and seen new place had to try small business. This sandwich was amazing.

Best place ever. My boyfriend and I came in to try chicken and donuts for the first time for brunch. It was absolutely amazing. Cooked fresh, you could see the steam. The chicken was super moist and crunch, and the donut was fluffy and sweet. Also the egg was cooked to perfection. The tater tots on the side was super hot and crunchy and golden. It was so yummy. I've never had a tater tot as good as theirs. I'm a big fan of jalepeno poppers, and I got an order of it, and my oh my, that was the best I've ever had. I even left one in my car in the container for a couple of hours and it was still amazing. I wish I lived in Kansas City, but good thing I don't because I would be broke and would put on a ton of pounds from the place! I could eat here everyday.

They weren't busy and were close to closing time.

Usually when I go to a restaurant when they're slow, I expect to have a long wait, or for the food to be a little stale, but this was neither. Our food was ready fast, hot, fresh, and exceptionally good!

We're adding this to our list of local favorites!

This place is amazing! I have had the 5 different things on the menu and, I have loved every one of them. My favorite thing I have had so far it the fried chicken sandwich and the wings with the sweet sauce. Plus, the staff is super nice and the vibe in the dining room is very relaxing.

I was really impressed with this new spot in KCK. A variety of options for breakfast and lunch. I tried the wings special and was very happy with it. They have different flavors for their wings (wet and dry rub options). Everything was made to order, which made the wait worth it. There's a variety of donuts and pastries to choose from. I got the cinnamon rolls and it was fresh and juicy. The service was A1! They checked on all of the customers who dined in. Great atmosphere, too.
