Louisburg Middle Creek Lake

The Lake is gorgeous.

I stopped by on a road trip. I'm not sure if the lake is part of the Rutlader Wildlife Area or not....but they are pretty close together and both offer photo opportunities. There are also some dirt roads that give you access around the shores of the lake.

It seemed super quiet and bereft of people when I was there.

Spent the night here at the campground. Thank you for offering a night of free camping in your county. The lake is beautiful, even under the snow.

Free! Primitive! Almost perfect!! I needed a quiet peaceful place to camp and recharge my soul. This is the spot. It’s almost 100% because I love to swim and really needed to get away from a long winter; swimming is very primal for me. It’s 4.11.23 I’m aware now that I’d need to go more south to find warmer swimmable water so I went east toward the Ozark lakes 😅. There I found signs warning for ‘swim at your own risk, they do not check water for bacteria or water quality, warning for mud that could be a risk’ it was $10 a night cash or check however there was another camper and the experience became strange to say the least. I thought I’d have a better chance entering the water from the boat slant in the morning after, however it was -safer- to leave; so I quietly packed (@2am) and drove back to louisburg lake.
Feels safe here. It’s clean, quiet and it seems to be seldomly visited from what I’d assume locals (wave back) to fish or let dogs roam or bask in the beauty. I apologize to the locals because if I lived here I’d love to keep it secret, quiet and beautiful as it is, so leave no trace behind. At night you fall asleep under a clear view of the stars and the gentle water waves. There’s sounds of frogs, hawks, crickets and birds. The very last spot has a perfect arrangement for your tent, however, I did find a few ticks on my tent so I sprayed it down and was good, it is the season for those blood suckers. You can find wood laying about or can collect for the fire pit and sit on the benches. Absolutely recommend!! Obviously 🤣😂😅❤

I had a girls trip here for the first time! This place is GORGEOUS!!! It was so easy to set up, find a place and enjoy our weekend!! People do like to party here, there was lots of empty beer bottles and random trash throughout ( napkins, food wrappers and men's underwear, trimming from a pets haircut.. ) mostly up by the vaulted bathroom. Which is GREAT they provide, but not a very kempt area. They have a dock for boating, fire pits, picnic tables and beautiful scenery. I'll be back, for sure! That was the best time I've had in a long time!!

Great free RV stay overlooking lake. Pit toilet, fire ring, picnic table, fishing, antenna tv, cell service, nice dirt road to site, did I mention FREE?
I will return when in the area.

Great quite little spot. I like it for stargazing, but the campsites are nice and the lake is beautiful.

Nice lake with free camping primitive camping. Skies are beautiful, and some good bird watching.

This camp ground was wonderful. It was our first time here so we didn't know what to expect. Sites are nice, have trees for shade and great view of lake. Nice firepit and picnic table at site as well. We will definately be back again.

This is a nice secluded spot to go fish, camp, or just chill out and get away from the city. Not too far outside of town...but just far enough.

Good for Tent camping or a picknick! Each site has a shade tree, fire ring, and picknick table, cant believe its free to camp here! Big thanks to ya!!

Could never pass up a free campground on my cross country bike tour. No water source here. Buy what you need in Louisburg. It wasn’t crowded here on July 4th but it was a really hot day so who else would primitive camp if there were other options? Good T-Mobile signal here. Very quiet. Nice lake.

My daughter and family camped out at middle creek over a holiday weekend. What a great facility. The few campsites are really spread out which made it so nice. The campgrounds were very well maintained with fire rings and picnic tables on concrete pads. The only negative was not having a water station. We drove to the RV park up the road to fill containers.

Wonderful area. A little busy if during fishing season, but pretty quiet overall. Camping was nice and quiet. No amenities or running water. Just a pit toilet by the boat ramp.

Went fishing here 5/27/18. Had a boat and trolling motor so was able to fish various areas. Lots of cover around the edges. Produced some 1 to 3 lb. bass. Returned all to the water. Hopefully everyone that fishes for bass anywhere, only does catch and release. If you want fish to keep and cook, go catch catfish!

Free camping and excellent fishing. The area has always been well maintained and easily accessible. One of my family's favorite camping spots

What a great place to recharge your batteries!

Fishing is good. If your a butterfly watcher there's a large variety. The geese are starting to make a mess of the place though

Plenty of space, beautiful view, fishing dock, boating ramp, fire pits, places to off-road, and rarely crowded.
