This place is AWESOME—and refreshing to visit if you’re used to a big chain pet store. I have been researching and shopping for tarantulas for my daughter for a little while. I visited several pet stores in the area and none of them had knowledge about spiders. Even worse, they weren’t even properly keeping them, as is pretty common with places like that.

Anyway, I decided to check out Home Grown Pets. I was pleasantly surprised to learn that the man at the counter owned tarantulas and that he had a lot of experience and knowledge. He was able to answer every question I had and I decided to purchase one right then and there. The way they are kept here in comparison to other places is WORLDS better. The spiders are kept in the right type of enclosure and are fed a variety of things. The price was reasonable and far less than other places I shopped. They sent me with a tank and everything in it for a great bundle price and we are LOVING having this pet so far—I see more in our future.

This place is amazing!! I go here when I need items for my rabbits. They have top of the line product and are very knowledgeable. Not only have I brought products from this place but I also brought all 4 of my rabbits from this place as well. If it wasn't for them, I wouldn't have my lovely animals

I really enjoyed my first visit to homegrown pets. They have a variety of small pets including birds , reptiles, ferrets and guinea pigs. They also had some fish. It is a rather large warehouse style setup. And they had a couple of birds who run free in the area. The staff was a very helpful. They did not have exactly what I was looking for but they were able to suggest a suitable alternative. The prices are reasonable and I will definitely be visiting again.

Steven showed me and a friend the neatest time at Home Grown Pets. He spent time one-on-one easily introducing us to some new animals. Wonderful experience to new small animals. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!

They have the BEST bug selection for reptiles, lots of healthy choices of geckos and snakes and other reptiles!!

We have had the best luck with hampters that are take and not aggressive and they keep good supply of dog and cat food for our other furry pets

My two best friends, Valentine and Penelope, came from Home Grown Pets. The staff loves all their animals as their own and care for them as their own until they find them a perfect home. This store was highly recommended to me for this reason. They also carry food for pets that is all natural and untouched by commercial-based products. I will always go back to them.

It was a great experience even though I wasn't shopping. I just took my son to see and learn about different animals. I do come there to buy feeder fish and aquatic plants regularly.

I love this place so much! The staff are all friendly and knowledgeable and I love coming in because they remember me and my lizards and ask about them. Better than any chain pet store in my opinion.

I bought a biOrb fish tank and love it. They are very knowledgeable and helpful. They also helped me with a crisis I had with setting up my tank. I highly recommend them.

Not a super great selection when it comes to habitat decorations, enclosures for the pets that are for sale aren’t ideal and need to be cleaned more often. Why 5 stars? Because as far as pet stores go this place is really good and has great customer service! I will always go here if they’ve got what I need as opposed to pet smart/co

These people are true gems!! They don't care if you're there to buy stuff or not. They just want to help you and you're pets!! I make sure I go there first for my reptile needs because of how great they have been. They haven't ever acted like my questions are dumb either. They are so so so so AMAZING!!!!!!!

What a great little pet shop. Very knowledgeable and friendly staff. Lots of great looking fish, a variety of birds and reptiles and a wide array of cute little faces. They had quite a few rabbits, guinea pigs, rats, ferrets, gerbils, hamsters and a chinchilla. We were shopping for a rabbit to add to our family and were impressed at how well handled they seem to be and the patience of both staff members there that worked with us. There was also no pressure from them to upsell or make a decision quickly. They will be our new go to shop for pet supplies.

Brandy was extremely helpful helping me fine the different type of plans I need it for the luck that I have in mind. Even though she had to keep going to the register to check people out, She never wants let her frustration show. Kind employees matter and will always keep me coming back!

This is the best pet shop around! They have great products and the staff are very knowledgeable. You can tell they are very passionate about animals. Above all else the fish appear very healthy, lively, and full of vibrant color. With alsolutely no dead fish floating around. The only nitpick I can give is the store is currently unfinished as it is a new store. So that means they have concrete floors and they don't have a ton of products/species to choose from. But that will surely change as they finish the store and floor space opens up. I would recommend this pet store over any of the pet store chains here in Marion. I really hope this store is here to stay!

The staff are extremely knowledgeable. Great local business to support. Love the fact they have USA made products. They have a fun variety of small pets. My dog Boba loves to go there. Glad to be a part of their small business community.

Super sweet employees, very helpful. The store nicely organized. I know exactly were my product is and can trust its in stock. My dog loves the braided esophagus stuffed with bully.

If you aren't ordering from Home Grown Pets, what are you even doing?! I ordered dog food for the first time using their delivery service and I could not recommend Home Grown Pets enough! Not only do they have an amazing selection of products, but they provided same day no-contact delivery. I will be ordering all of my products from them in the future and will be an in person customer when I feel comfortable to do so again. Very glad to have this business in the Cedar Rapids area community!

My daughter ❤ this place, we have 3 rabbits now that we purchased from them!!
