Petersen Pet Hospital

We recently brought our bulldog to Petersen pet hospital because previous vets we had been to just weren’t equipped to care for bulldogs. Dr McGinty was amazing, knew exactly what was needed for our sweet boy and the staff is always so friendly. We’re so thankful for finding them.

I have an old rottweirler who is a little terrified of vets. Our old vet abruptly closed which was frustrating for many reasons. It's hard to take a big scared dog to new places, but this place is wonderful. The staff was so patient with her, and she probably ate $20 worth of treats.

Thank you for taking your time with her. I know she doesn't have much time left with us, but I'm so happy to have found a loving place to help us have as much quality time left together as we can.

Dr. Carmo was the best! We've moved a few times and had several vets along the way, and she took my visit next level. Engaged, asked questions, explainations, cost up front. I felt valued as a new customer.

My first time to this pet hospital was my first visit. I got my pups shots updated . My Pomeranian is very special to us and the staff here is wonderful 💯. Very knowledgeable friendly and want the best for your pet. I would recommend them to any one.

All of the staff at Petersen Pet Hospital is amazing! We have been going here for years! We have never had a bad experience. From the moment you walk in, you can tell your pets are loved!

Then there is Dr. Green. Her care, compassion, taking her time to explain things, and love she has for animals is another level! She will even get down on the floor to help pets get warmed up to her before she starts her examination. She truly takes her time and wants to make sure you feel comfortable with everything happening with your pet.

Dr. McGinty is the best vet I have ever met, hands down. The entire staff here is deeply compassionate and exceptionally competent. The facility itself is also gorgeous, clean, and very well kept.

I cannot say enough thanks to Dr. McGinty at Peterson Pet Hospital! A few days prior to visiting here, we had been at Bright Eyes Bushy Tails in Iowa City at the Emergency Vet. The vet we saw there had very little knowledge of rabbits. The place was loud, rushed, chaotic, and uncomfortable.

A few days later, I was able to get an appointment at Peterson and it was exactly the opposite experience. Calm, relatively quiet, friendly and helpful staff. Thorough examination. My bunny preferred to sit on the bench next to me on her towel. Dr. McGinty got down right next to her, was very gentle and caring the entire time. Took time to thoroughly explain things. I have an academic background in biology, but not this, so I had some questions. I left there feeling very optimistic for the first time since my bun got sick. Exactly what I needed! Thank you!

Yes, a little pricier than another clinic I’ve been to. But for proximity to home/work and peace of mind…This will now be my primary vet.

I just love this place! The doctors take such good care of my animals and the owners. Each doctor takes the time to talk with you and learn your animal. They want to make sure every detail is explained before you are done with any appointment. I love it when the doc gets on the floor with my dog, sitting there making them calm and feel safe. This is a great place - clean, open and friendly facility.

This was our first time at Petersen Pet Hospital. Dr. Young was knowledgeable and personable, and engaged with our cat immediately and perfectly. Her care and expertise were apparent and gave us—and our pet—confidence that our cat was in good hands. The rest of the staff was kind and gentle, and helped put our cat at ease. Altogether, this was one of the best vet experiences we’ve had.

Very impressed with the level of care, knowledge, and friendliness of the staff. I believe prices are not cheap, but definitely in line with current pricing for these type of services. Dr. Young took time to discuss my cats case and I did not feel like we were rushed. I would recommend!

When our sweet pup of 12 1/2 years was not getting the help she needed from another vet we came here. Dr green listened to me and although it was to late by this time she did all she could and also was so caring to me andy family. Whe could tell our fur baby meant something to her In just the short time she knew our baby. When we got another puppy Dr green was there for all the checkups. And loves on our now almost 11 month old as if it was her own. Thank you Dr green for having a loving heart and the love you have for animals. It shows

First, our cat was on Hills Science Diet W/D which is prescription only. But, at Petersen Pet Hospital, I was able to get it for my cat without being a client. That was awesome. The staff was always so so kind and enjoyable.

Second, our only vet visit was with Dr. Knutson was FABULOUS with our cat Shadow. Very very comforting, letting him explore the room, which he did, but also very informative as well. She was so helpful, answered any and all questions in a way that was 100% understandable. I'd recommend her to absolutely anyone.

And, I had to call to let them know our Shadow passed away and to deactivate the account. The person who answered the phone was SO compassionate and kind. She explained that she would just deactivate the account as opposed to deleting it, just in case, down the road, we would get another pet....no matter how far in the future, as long as this place is open and running, they'll have us in the system. I truly appreciated that so very much. As we are in the very deep grieving process with broken hearts, as Shadows death was shockingly sudden....he passed here at home from what we now think may have been sleep apnea.....but we didn't know before that animals can have that. We are not certain, but the fact that he was SO healthy and happy and just being his playful loving, joyful self before he laid down to take his nap.... and then ... that was it. But when I called, the receptionist was wonderful. I have only good things to say about this place.

We have been going here for over half a decade now and they have always treated us with kindness and respect and never downplay our worries. We regularly go for visits and when we needed assistance crossing one of our babies over the rainbow bridge, they were beyond caring and helpful. I always recommend them when people ask for vets.

Dr. Saunders cared for our grumpy cat for many years, always showing such patience. She went the extra mile in finding ways to help reduce his stress when visiting the vet. Although he was a difficult patient, she always spoke to him so kindly and answered my young daughters’ many questions during his check-ups. At the end of our cat’s life, Dr. Saunders provided so much guidance and kindness to our family. She, Dr. Green, and all the other staff members we came in contact with made a very sad time much much easier on all of us. We are so grateful for Dr. Saunders and everyone at PPH.

Dr. Mcginty and tech Linda are the absolute best. They give excellent care for our dogs and cats, and are great at helping make tough decisions. Through puppy checkups, annual exams for our kitties, and care up until passing. We recently had to put down one of our cats and Linda was amazing getting everything prepared and allowing us as much time as we needed. She as well shared in the snuggles and you truly can see how much they care during difficult times like these. With Linda and Dr. Mcginty we knew our baby was in the best hands they could be. We have recommended others to Dr. Mcginty and they as well have had a wonderful experience. They have been are go to for years and continue to be🙌🙌

Dr. Green was great with my dog! She answered all of my questions and provided additional resources to us. Tech staff was friendly and kind to my dog. Penny is well cared for here.

It was my first time there and they were able to get me in same day. I brought my 10 year-old Cavachon in for a tooth abscess and Dr. Carol and her assistants were awesome! Very caring and reassuring. My little man was up and at 'em in no time. Thank you!!!

I can’t recommend Petersen Pet Hospital enough! Finley our almost 6 year old dog unexpectedly could not bear weight on his left paw Sunday evening. Some family recommended Petersen’s. With that said, we quickly gave Petersens a call Monday morning explaining our situation. They worked us in same day to ensure Finley was taken care of. Being new to the clinic, they took time to make us feel welcome and explain their workflow step by step. The vet tech Tyrany and Dr. Knutson were amazing!! Finley was nervous but the team approached him gently and let him lead the appointment, while still being cognizant of time. They didn’t rush him and took the extra time to look at his leg in great depth (while distracting with peanut butter of course). The transparency of cost and discussion of treatment plan was impressive and valued, ultimately putting my mind at ease and Finley well cared for. Additionally, they provided a welcome folder with some great resources such as after hours emergency vet care and their online pet portal. We will be transferring care for our other dog Gus soon! Thank you Petersen team for all you do :)

The staff at Petersen’s are amazing with Jada she loves going there. Jada’s surgery went well, she healed quickly and is now able to walk placing her hind paw on the ground. Thank you for taking such great care of Jada! ❤
