avid hotel Cedar Rapids South - Arpt Area, an IHG Hotel

If you are going to choose from the hotels in this immediate area, this is absolutely the one to pick. We came in the early morning hours after a snowstorm made us detour our trip home, and the front end staff got us a room of our preference (single king) right away. Prices were accurately reflected online to what we paid.

Rooms are small but very efficiently laid out. Two adults and a baby with our luggage did not feel cramped at all. Lots of regular outlets and USB outlets. Everything clean, and the bed was comfier than our own at home!

Breakfast had simple choices but still satisfying. The coffee and hot water options were available 24/7 as well. My husband was feeling under the weather, and felt refreshed with hot tea all day long. There was some minor ambient mechanical sounds at night, but no loud noises, which passed the baby check for our 7.5 month old.

We were exceedingly impressed. Despite being simple on the surface, this is perhaps the most comfortable and pleasant hotel we have ever stayed in. We did not want to leave! Thank you to Murad, and all of the other staff and management for curating such a welcoming environment.

Very clean. Rooms are well equipped. Beds are very comfortable. Accommodated our late arrival and an extra guest. Shuttle service to the airport was on time and the gentleman driving was a good driver on the icy roads, and friendly. Staying at the Avid was an excellent experience from start to finish

We stayed here before our flight. The front desk staff were all friendly and willing to help, the room was very clean, beds comfortable. Got coffee at 345 In the morning hot and fresh. Parking lot was plowed (we stayed right after the snowstorm) great place, definitely recommend and definitely will stay again.

My daughter was married down the road at Midnight Gem & we booked a block of rooms at this hotel sight unseen. To say we were amazed is an understatement! So so clean. From the parking lot to the hallways to the rooms to the breakfast area, clean. The beds were comfy.
The staff was welcoming, friendly & accommodating. We have stayed in many hotels and this hotel far exceeds the standard. Thank you Avid! We really enjoyed our stay!

This is the 1st time ever staying here and it is really nice! This hotel is on a very high level as the others! This should be the way all hotels are designed and maintained. Atmosphere is great, design and overall smell was really fresh. Staff is very positive and friendly! All the fine details from the floor, to the walls, to the elevator is very impressive and clean and sharp! I will recommend everyone come here just to experience the amazing place! I will be back! All hotels owners and managers should see this place and take notes! All hotels should be on this level of expectations!

The room was good enough for couple nights of stay.
Very close to the airport.
I wish the shuttle ran early morning times and late times to accommodate flight schedule.
Continental breakfast and coffee are complimentary.
You can get coffee at any time of the day or night. And water as well.

Very clean and comfortable stay. Was especially impressed with the staff, who were all friendly and went out of their way to make us feel valued. Thoughtful desk clerk who checked us in the evening of March 24 even looked up and wrote down my IHG rewards number and handed it to me (without my asking) when I couldn't remember it. Breakfast was very good with a variety of choices and was well stocked. Room was tastefully designed with thoughtful touches, modern finishes, and was exceptionally clean. This was our first stay at the Avid chain, but it won't be our last!

Rooms are new and clean! Service was above average and the location to the airport is excellent!

Quite new and immaculate. Part of the Holiday Inn group. Very contemporary rooms that are spotless, great mattress and shower even if the rooms are a bit on the small size. Breakfast offering was decent. Airport Shuttle service was very much appreciated... will definitely stay again.

We chose this hotel due to it’s close proximity to the hotel. Everything in this hotel was super clean - the lobby, the hallways, our room. Modern updated bathroom was great and beds were super comfortable. We got up super early to go to the airport and were thankful for the grab and go breakfast in the lobby, the hot Jimmy Dean breakfast sandwich was a life saver.

Only downside was there was no laundry on site, which we needed after a week long road trip, but there is a laundromat right down the road.

Fantastic hotel! I like the European style minimalist but comfortable room decor and furniture. There is no coffeemaker in the room but there is freshly ground coffee, tea, and hot chocolate in the lobby 24 hours a day. The check-in clerk was really friendly and helpful. My room was quiet. Located a mile or so from the airport. There is a free airport shuttle which doesn't run 24 hours (starts about 5;00 a.m.) but you should doublecheck actual hours with the hotel.

I get the best sound sleep here! They have blackout curtains that keeps the room dark even during the brightest day!

Rooms are very up to date and clean. The front desk was nice and professional. The breakfast was just Jimmy Dean sandwiches, cereal, toast, etc., which a hot breakfast would've been nice, but they may be short staffed so very easy to handle for 1 person. 4 minutes to the airport so very convenient. I would stay there again.

In a word. Streamlined. Customer service was second to none. Really caters to the working man.

I arrived very early in the morning due to a delayed flight, and the person at the front desk was so kind and friendly, with my room key ready (I checked in online - so convenient and fast!) My room was quiet, clean, and the bed was very comfortable. I ended up sleeping through breakfast, but there was coffee and tea ready in the lobby, which is available 24hrs a day. I was there long enough to sleep, but if I was there longer I would have taken advantage of the pool and fitness center! Best part of all, this hotel is a 4 minute drive from the airport. Perfect if you’re arriving late like I did. Thank you, Avid! I will stay here again!

Front desk was friendly, and rooms were super clean. The rooms are a little small bit they are not uncomfortable. Complimentary breakfast was delicious and there was ample seating in the lobby to dine, relax or do work if needed. Loved the 24 hour coffee/tea and hot coco bar that they offered. Would definitely stay here again. Also they were near the highway so that was a huge plus.

This hotel is affordable and beautiful inside and out. the rooms are so clean and modern. I will definitely stay here again. It's cleaner than most hiltons i've stayed at. Some may call the breakfast basic but their breakfast setup is mostly setup up to be healthy and possibly low carb.

So if the Standard Hotel in Hollywood had a cousin in Iowa, this hotel would be that cousin. The lobby is open and welcoming, and looks like a hotel the Jetsons would stay at. Mid century meets futuristic. Front desk people are more than friendly and helpful. Breakfast is "on the go" fare. No paper thin bacon or mystery meat sausage here. Jimmy Dean sandwiches, cereal, fruit, bagels and muffins. The rooms are interestingly cool. I've been in surgical theaters that aren't as clean as the rooms. Seriously, I dropped a granola bar crumb on the floor and felt guilty. No drawers or closets, plenty of hooks for anything that can't lay down. The bed is the star here. Big enough for 3 adults, thick enough that you could toss it out the window, jump to it from the 3rd floor and probably walk away. Electric blinds will seal out the sun like an eclipse. Pool is beautiful, haven't visited workout room, but I'm guessing it would get the Lysol Purple Heart. Minutes from the east Iowa airport. Lots of flight crews here every day, and you know they only stay in the cool hotels!!! Definitely recommend, will definitely be back!!!

As a business traveler I really liked this hotel. It’s modern and new which is perfect. Staff was very friendly and the airport shuttle was convenient. Rooms were clean and beds were comfy. I liked their lobby with an assortment of beverages available on demand 24/7. I’d recommend this hotel.
