A nice little buffet diner in cozy Monticello. They have great fried chicken as well as great daily specials soups, salads and dessert on the buffet. If you prefer made to order they have tasty all day breakfast too!

Wonderful service. Everyone is so nice there, and the food comes out fast and delicious. I love their breakfast!

Had a 3 piece cod dinner, american fries and corn. One suggestion offer more than corn or coleslaw. Food was awesome!!!!

Great home cooked comfort food. Had the meat lovers skillet which includes thinly sliced fried potatoes on the bottom. Then, covered with shredded cheese and two eggs. Mine were sunny side up. So delicious. If you ever get down this way, be sure to stop. Lunch and dinner are also served.

Great food, fair prices, kind and attentive service! Got the steak skillet, sourdough toast and some coffee. Little bit of Tabasco and it took me right back to childhood breakfasts with my dad. Will definitely come back; the meatloaf at the buffet looked great and I watched 6 working men in a row take goodly portions of it, so it must taste great, too!

This little restaurant packs a punch of great food and awesome service. My family and I have been in Monticello for a few months, and this was the first time we visited, but certainly not the last. The biscuits and gravy are incredible, and the meat lovers omelet was packed. If you are hungry and find yourself near Monticello, stop here. You won't regret it!

My Sweetie and I stopped for a pre-model show breakfast at Darrell's for our first time. We LOVE local cafe's and shy away from national chains whenever possible. A local gentleman advised the newcomers "Sit wherever you want" as he made his way outside with an obviously happy tummy! There is a compact breakfast buffet or one can order off the menu.

We chose a booth. Our waitress arrived in almost no time. I ordered country fried steak, eggs, American fried potatoes and toast with coffee. My "Date" had a meat lovers omelet with cinnamon raisin toast and chocolate milk. Our orders arrived after not too much time. Hot, near prefect and plentiful! Any thought that anyone ever leave Darrell's hungry quickly vanished! Their coffee is good too!

Our breakfast was just what hungry hobby hahnyaaks wish for. The price was reasonable and the small town Monticello atmosphere was a delight. Access from Hwy 151 isn't too far off the road.

Darrell's defeated me. I made a valiant effort, but I couldn't finish all of my delicious breakfast. They advertise "Tummy Happiness". It's the plain truth!

You don't have to take my word for it. Stop by and find out for yourself.

Family loves this place. Not much of a breakfast fan, so I'm so happy I can order anything off the menu at 8am. Enjoy their tenderloins. My niece goes wild for the chocolate chip pancake. It comes out the size of her. So big. Always leave with a happy full belly. & For a reasonable price.

Excellent food. I think Darrel's has the best pork tenderloin in the Midwest, made from scratch. Really nice staff. You can order from the menu or have the buffet. Our favorite.

I've actually been there several times over the years, and I can honestly say I wish I lived closer & passed through more often.

I'm not sure what day it was when I came through the last time, but the chicken on the buffet table was absolutely, hands down, the best fried chicken I have had in 30÷ years since my mother passed away..!!
And I put my mother's fried on a very high pedestal & didn't this I would ever have any that compaired...but I have found it.!! ♡♡♡
So if you find yourself in Jones County Iowa and a hunger for great food, don't hesitate, get to Monticello & have some excellent food & enjoy...i know I will be there again soon, and I'm hoping the buffet tables are filled with all the excellent dishes & especially that superb fried chicken that was hands down the best I've had in 30+ years...☺

Always love this place. Amazing onion rings, I could eat them as my meal. Tenderloin & burgers are awesome. A must when you are near Monticello!

Had the pleasure of dining here for my husband's work Christmas party. Family friendly for our children. The food is absolutely AMAZING! Everything from the broasted chicken to the salads and desserts... But... The awesome character of this place! What a true family tradition. From the collection of family plates and teapots to the spacious seating to accommodate our littles. Everyone is very welcoming, just like you're family! We'll be going a bit out of our usual route to make much more frequent trips! Our new Family Tradition

catered my wedding october 2nd, food was great everyone loved everything that was served, staff was very friendly professional and they came prepared, price was very fair. i would recommend Darrell's anytime catering is needed for any event.
