Circa 1888

I felt like family right when I walked in! The patio seating is very welcoming and definitely feels like home. It over looks the river and gives a peaceful vibe. The owner, who also does the cooking, came to greet and check on us. Top notch! Then the food!!! Oh my! So incredible! The Italian Beef had a homemade au jus and the beef was very tender! Everything was delicious down to the blackberry mousse! Service was warm and engaging as well and the price point can’t be matched! I’m so happy we found this gem on our travels!

Fantastic restaurant - completed our trip to Mississippi Palisades State Park for Mother's Day. Their menu is mouthwatering, service is excellent, and the flowers on the table - I felt like I was their mom and they got me only the best flowers in the world!! My kids loved their food. I unfortunately was fasting that day, but I will say the iced tea was impeccable ;) Really want to go back, it's almost worth the 2.25 hour drive for me just to go here! Nicely done Ca. 1888!

First visit to Savanna. The service, food and prices were all great! I'd definitely recommend without hesitation. The only negative side is I live a few hours away so I can't frequent it more often! I had the philly cheese steak with provolone and a side salad. I'm not exactly sure what brand of ranch dressing was used but it was EXTREMELY good! My hoagie was great! My friends both ordered cheeseburgers, medium with everything on it and fries. The burgers were cooked exactly as ordered. If I'm ever in the area in the future I'll DEFINITELY be stopping in for a great meal!

Delicious food, the nicest staff, and amazing views! Absolutely go here when you have time for them to scratch make your food with real ingredients while you to take in the amazing views from the back deck! I love this place!

The homemade cranberry pecan chicken salad was delicious. The tomato soup is also homemade and made a perfect starter to the meal. Portions are more than generous. The husband and wife team were very attentive and accommodating. The back porch atmosphere was very friendly and relaxing. We took home chocolate mousse cake and it was amazing. Prices were very reasonable. Well worth the hour drive just to eat there. Will be our go-to restaurant for a day trip.

A place you wouldn't really expect in a small town like Savanna, IL. We were extremely surprised about the amazing variety of different options Jocelyn offers in her little, cozy, Chicago-style restaurant. Definitely not the standard bar food. A great range of offbeat dishes with good vegetarian options too. The outside area is stunning with an amazing view over the Mississippi river and a perfect spot for a sundowner.

A hidden gem in Savanna. Outstanding food prepared perfectly. Great cocktails and wine. Don't be in a hurry, relax watch the sunset and have a wonderful dinner.

Spending the night in Savanna and one of our group wanted a good steak, I found Circa 1888 on line, booked our reservation on line also. Our group tried everything frrom the steaks, to the balsamic pork and panini's. Everything was spot on even the delishes salads and house made dressings. To of us walked out the door with chocolate cake and the mousse! It was all delishes. Our service was impeccable, food wait time was crazy fast. Definitely recommend this

I visited during their Grand Opening and the food was excellent! There's something for everyone with a unique menu that sets it apart from the typical restaurant.
Plus the ambiance is great, and when the weather's nice, they have an outdoor deck where you can eat and also view the mighty Mississippi River!
I'll return again!

I'm behind on writing reviews about additional great offerings at Circa. Since the beginning of the year I've enjoyed the Shrimp Poutine, Pork Belly Street Tacos, the 1/2 Lb Grassfed Beef Burger, the Vegetarian Southwest Black Bean Burger, the
Grilled Cheese, and Meatball Sandwich. Plus the 'one night only' specials such as the Beef Stroganoff, that they recently offered. These are all homemade/fresh meals that keep me going back for more!

Great place to eat! Our waiter, Hunter, did an amazing job.

We ate a late lunch on the lovely back patio and enjoyed watching the cyclists on the nearby bike path and the river beyond. We had a variety of sandwiches and Flatbreads and which were simply delicious. The side orders of fries were very generous and wonderfully hot and salty! The Bloody Mary's were yummy, too. We would highly recommend a stop at this homey sweet restaurant. It's such a nice break from the same old restaurant food and has it's own personality.

Food was delicious. Service staff was kind and efficient. We ate out on the back deck and was able to enjoy the river view. I thoroughly enjoyed my dinner and time. I recommend to others and will return again.

Gluten is a problem for my BUT their wings are GF and so good! 10/10!
The server was attentive and made sure we were well taken care of.

Great food and friendly service. Handmade, fresh cocktails. Blackberry mule was excellent. Cool back patio with river views. Without a doubt, best burger around…get it with the white cheddar and bacon. We will be back.

Delicious food, several vegetarian options, lots of gluten free substitutions possible. Everything, including desserts, appeared to be homemade. They have a nice patio with a river view. A great surprise find as we traveled!

Dining here was wonderful! The menu is full of surprises.....so many options. We ordered several appetizers, a sandwich and a beautiful salad to share and every item we ordered was spectacular! My daughter has Celiac Disease and they had tons of gluten free options for people to enjoy. We live 3 hours away and we will definitely be making some trips back to this establishment.

We started off being greeted by a very nice young lady and it just kept getting better! I have to admit that I thought the food took a bit long in coming until I tasted it. Well worth the wait! Very fresh ingredients, large portions for the price. Best flatbread pizza I've had. Just a great little place to eat. We WILL be back!!!

Great experience! Staff were welcoming while still ensuring everyone wore masks when inside. Outdoor patio space was large and had a nice view of the Mississippi. Burger was delicious and the server was hilarious. Will be going back next time I'm in the area.

Wow! Hands down the best gluten free options and food I've ever had!
The food, service, and atmosphere was perfect. You can dine inside or out. We happen to stop on a day while we could sit outside and see the river. Plus!! They had live music.
We happen to just fall upon this gem while traveling on Sunday and I'm so very grateful we did! Everything I tried was incredible! From the beginning with the iced tea ...to the end with the best cheesecake I've ever had. Let alone gluten free cheesecake.
As soon as we left we spoke about how we would GLADY drive 3.5 hours to dine here again. :) I can't wait!

We had a fabulous meal, all fresh ingredients! The menu has some very unique offerings, including special diet offerings! Our waiter, and ALL the others, were kind, helpful, very efficient. Even one of the owners went out of his way to speak to us!
