We just got home from our weekend trip to the cabin. It was an awesome time. The cabin seemed to be well maintained and clean. The hot tub was located on the lower patio and also clean. The property manager was great to deal with considering he let us go back an hour after check out to find my wife’s wedding ring. The cabin is quite large with 7 beds and two couches spread out on three different floors. Four bedrooms and a loft with three of the beds. It’d be ideal for large families or a group trip. It’s still the perfect couples get away with one master suite with a jacuzzi tub and large walk in shower. 10/10 from this happy couple.

Beautiful log cabin on a very quiet private road.
This was the second time my wife and I stayed at Paint Creek with our Cocker spaniel. Can't beat the winter rental rates! Saw many deer and turkey just mere yards from the cabin. Also could hear a Barred owl calling" Who cooks for you" around sunset. The Yellow river state forest is just a couple minutes away. Our dog loves his walks but I looked forward to taking him on walks in the State forest compared to our urban subdivision. My wife and I looked forward to the hot tub and a REAL fire place in the evening!
But as the owners state in their description, this is not a resort with resort amenties. That's not what I want in a log cabin though.

Good place to stay except no sheets on the beds. They were extra. When they brought the sheets, they were the wrong sizes. We didn't mind bringing our own towels, but sheets should come with the beds.

Eleven of us stayed for a Friday and Saturday night in February. There is a master bedroom with a full bath on the main floor, three bedrooms in the basement, and an open loft with three beds upstairs. The loft had bare wires hanging down where a ceiling fan should be and we couldn't find a switch to turn on the ceiling fan over the living room. The basement bedroom I stayed in only had one outlet and no window.
There are two simple fire rings. The one by the badminton net had several bolts and screws from someone burning the log-furniture bench and chairs. The fire ring by the back door still had half burnt spindles from when the porch railing was rebuilt. We paid an extra $25 to have firewood delivered, but none was brought to us. The front porch had a couple chairs, but there was no other chairs for sitting around the fires.
The kitchen was good and the appliances all worked. There is a TV in the living room and basement. We didn't turn them on, but there are satellite dishes on the roof.
There was one roll of toilet paper in each bathroom, no extra garbage bags, and no paper towels, so bring some with you. I don't think there were any hand or kitchen towels.
There is a big sectional couch in the living and nice dining room table with six chairs.

This place is kind of a sad story about what could be, and I'm leaving a long review in hopes that it will live up to its potential someday soon. The cabin itself is gorgeous, and the location is beautiful and secluded, but the property is poorly maintained. The biggest problem is cleanliness. I am honestly not a picky traveler but our large group unanimously felt that this place was disgustingly dirty. There were literally piles of dog hair everywhere. If you put up the recliner, peeked under the bed, or just looked in a corner, you'd see huge balls of dog hair. The place had not been vacuumed since the previous guests, or maybe several guests. Or swept. The carpeted steps were so gross I vacuumed them myself, and filled up the entire vacuum canister - I honestly doubt they had ever been vacuumed. It looked like the baseboards throughout the cabin have never once been cleaned or dusted. Or the mirrors, pendant lights over the kitchen island, fans, or really anything. Cobwebs everywhere. So dirty behind the toilet. All windows dirty. The hot tub smelled funny, was really foamy, and had a brown film around the edges and underneath the cover... We opted not to use it. Finally, the bed we got in the basement (middle room) was so horrendously squeaky we couldn't even roll over without waking each other up, plus it was worn out and sunk toward the middle. The second bed we tried was a full mattress on a queen box spring so it sloped down on one side.

I share all this in hopes that the owners will realize that cleanliness is important, even in a cabin in the woods. Some TLC would go such a long way. Clean up the junk by the shed and empty the garbage barrel. Paint the front steps. Maintain the hot tub. Buy decent mattresses. And for goodness sake, especially if you're dog friendly, CLEAN this place. It needs a really good, deep cleaning. And vacuum everything between every guest! This cabin could be an absolute gem. The scenery around it is stunningly gorgeous! The furniture and artwork are really nice. The loft is beautiful. And there is working WiFi, if you want to stream a movie, which we did in the evening. Overall, our extended family enjoyed our three nights in the woods, mosquito bites and all (there is a beautiful wetland on the property - bring bug repellant!) but would have enjoyed it so much more if it had been clean.

Read all the three star review's here.they tell exactly our experience. Clearly owned and managed by someone who just sadly doesn't take pride in their work and appreciate this nice place. It's a great spot with cute towns and great holes nearby. I'd stick to the b&B's in nearby towns if I were to to back to the area.
