Liberty Bank

Banked here for over 15 years, including our personal account, business account, and different house purchases. We love Liberty and love the fact that they are depositor-owned, meaning that our money isn't being siphoned off to Wall Street. :)

Originally did a home equity loan with Liberty Bank's main office out of middletown. Process was very slow and drawn out. When it came down to finally closing the loan was transferred to the Mansfield branch. The person that closed it was very friendly and helpful. Since then we have ordered cash twice and both times I've shown up to withdrawal the cash there is a 'miscommunication' about when the cash would arrive. My other bank has been successful both times of being able to produce the money. Staff is friendly but would recommend another bank.

Since outsourcing their online banking in January, customer service has been awful. I just waited 40 minutes on the phone to be told that I'm finally "7th in line". Gave up. I just wanted to find out how to transfer some funds to another bank account (see below for reason). No info on how to do this on the web site, even though it's a 2 min operation at other banks where I have online accounts. I've been banking here for over 20 years, and I'd like to keep my business local, but probably won't. Not least because they pay .1 percent on insured savings, while others are paying 1.5 percent.

Nope. Three days this bank has me working on its clock to resolve back to back fraud charges on my account. Meanwhile, person after person is walking in behind me reporting fraud and the bank is taking no responsibility for its lack of security products. Then someone from management walks in with a trench coat and porsche asking me if I’m a happy customer. Walk with your customers, don’t stomp on them.

There online banking app is a poorly designed and misleading. When you open it it supposedly shows you your “current balance” but is not accurate. It told me I have $77.53 I’m an account so I thought I had money available but it turns out my account was overdrawn -77.53 (most likely because when I had been checking the app it falsely showing a positive balance. Why would you say “funds available” and show a positive amount of its actually negative? Now they want me to pay a crazy $45 dollar overdraft charge. Take your business elsewhere.

Unbelievable! I am trying get through the drive- in service at Liberty Bank in Storrs, CT.
I have been waiting now 30 min for my turn.
Still waiting. It is Thursday, the 20th and the time is 3:35pm. This is unacceptable!

Once again Liberty Bank had done nothing to help us. We aren’t asking for loans, just descent service and ease of use. As a small business I would recommend people look elsewhere.

Impossible to reach out for a simple replacement of a debit card. No waiting time.
