Los Angeles County DPW Building & Safety Antelope Valley Office

I have only had a really, unfortunate encounter with one person there, and he is only in their office one day a week, so I don't hold the office as a whole accountable. For the most part, everyone there has been GREAT and helpful. This is a county office. It is a bureaucracy. However, people will talk to you and give you the information you need, even if it isn't the information you want. They will tell you how to get done what you need to get done. A special shout out to Francis, Mo, Hugo, Terri, Tina and Michael O. And the engineer with the best, crazy hair. Communication is key and this is where most of the snafus arise. They are single individuals trying to handle many, many projects and people through a confusing array of rules and codes. They have been the best and I have felt like they have mostly always been trying to help, not hinder, me.

The best customer service, help me all the way, needed a roof permit and they make it very easy.

This review is for the guy at the grading dept. I was there with my neighbor today and heard him call over a couple and ridicule the guy for not offering his chair? Something about not being a gentlemen. Civil servants teaching civics 101.

I've been trying to get an ADU permit for a year. So frustrating. The plan checker refuses to have a conversation and his emails and plan marks are not clear. I have done every thing he's asked for despite the fact that other departments across the state don't require this information on the plans and I still can't get a permit. I heard it's a state law to allow ADUs. Maybe I should file a complaint with the state. If this was private business, this guy would have been fired a long time ago.

Women that answers the phone is really rude. I called to get information on how to pull up a permit. She was very rude when answering. And got mad when I asked her something twice because she doesn’t gives you a good explanation. I thought maybe she had a bad day… but I called today again same lady answered. She wasn’t still really rude hang up on me. Once had to call back to get my answers. I was afraid to ask her name. She probably wouldn’t even give it to me.

No one answers the phone here I've now tried every extension they have. I even went to the office Friday to try and get some info, but they close at 11:30. They make it super hard to work in their county.
