What a wonderful place! We've been here several times and it has always been excellent. I highly recommend the pulled pork sandwich, smoked andouille sausage po boy and the garlic fries.

We took a trip to El Dorado. We read about Poor Reds famous drink “The Gold Cadillac”. Very interesting. Very old stone building. The patrons and staff were so friendly. A 10 out of 10 experience!

So I've been waiting literally years to get to visit this place! I've heard stories about it forever. A million years ago my dad proposed to my mom here and so I'd heard all about the Golden Cadillac's and the atmosphere being super laid back and fun. So I had to take it all in when we first got there. The sign in the front made me smile and look forward to having my own experience here! So it was totally packed. Which is a sign that it's good!!! Found a place to sit at the top of the bar. The perfect place for a birds eye view. My food was so excellent. I wish I lived closer by so I could visit more often. Who knows when I'll get another opportunity to get here again but my experience here was completely awesome! I even made a friend who was a pretty cool lady!!

I’ve heard a lot about Poor Reds, and had to try it. It was definitely worth the hype. We went on a Friday evening and although they were busy, we didn’t wait long. We sat inside with a view of the patio and the bar, which was entertaining.
The gold Cadillac is a must try. I loved it. We ordered the loaded potato skins with shredded pork, which were good, crispy potato skins and lots of cheese. I did request more of their delicious sauce. My friends ordered the ribs and those were falling off the bone tender.
Although my boyfriend used to go there a lot back in the day when Red actually owned it, and he thought it wasn’t nearly as good as before, I had a great time and really enjoyed the food and atmosphere.
It’s a great local dive with good food, good drinks and a good atmosphere.

Great place to enjoy some BBQ. The service is outstanding. Our server Rylee was so knowledgeable, very attentive (it was so busy) and delivered our food right when it was ready. The food was delicious and perfectly prepared.

Definitely a great spot to check out if you're ever in the Placerville area, the food is absolutely amazing, along with an unexpected amount of rich history. The chicken and waffles are a must!

What a fun place! The food was excellent, we sampled a few drinks including the brisket fries, wedge salad, golden Cadillacs and the tomato soup. The servers were very attentive and took away anything we didn't like (the garlic fries were intense, some people love that though🥰).

I loved Poor Reds BBQ, we went on a Sunday We ordered the half ribs, a burger and a Caesar salad. The food was good and the service was quite fast. Also, we didn't get cell service in the restaurant.

Overall a great place, in a better weather we could have enjoyed outdoor seating. It was a great experience.

Historic Poor Reds BBQ in El Dorado is the place to be seen as well as to get a great bite to eat. The patio seating is the coveted social gathering spot. If you desire air conditioned comfort, inside dining provides a view of the patio action but with a cool, relaxing vibe. Excellent customer service!

First time here. They had an awesome Valentine Dinner special. But I got the half rack of ribs and baked potato. More food than one person can eat. Delicious

We were visiting family in the area and they recommended Poor Reds BBQ for lunch - of course, after we tasted wine and ate chocolates at Annabelle's across the street.
At Poor Reds BBQ (very dog friendly) you can expect excellent service, hearty portions and some of the best barbecue you've ever had. DO NOT miss having their signature drink - The Gold Cadillac. I started with that then went to a nice glass of Cabernet to go along with my steak. Delicious!!

My first time at “Reds” was probably 35 years ago. My dad and I have been coming here for lunch since I was old enough to eat, and for drinks since I was old enough to drink! Reds is an extension of home, and you will feel it the second you walk in the door. Their recent remodel and menu update have elevated Poor Reds to a legitimate dining destination. We had fantastic Bloody Marys (a Wednesday morning special), baked potato skins, pulled pork sliders, the buffalo fries, and of course: the Golden Cadillac. Everything was absolutely fantastic.

I thoroughly enjoy Poor Red's. I've been coming there for decades. I was overjoyed when the new management revived it. The service is friendly and efficient. The food is delicious, and the signature drinks - Pink Squirrel, Brown Cow, Grasshopper, and Golden Cadillac - are a treat and just plain fun. Whiskey and Wine Wednesday is a tremendous idea. Far greater fun than Taco Tuesday. I'm always happy when I walk into Poor Red's.

Good 👍 food and great 😊 drinks 🍹 !! Excellent customer service at all times. Location Is also unique as they have been around for a long while and holding true to local traditions. They need to add Elena’s Tequila Sunset 🌆 to the drink 🥤 menu. Definitely coming back…

We visited fairly early on a Saturday on a comfortable day in October. We found ample parking in the back of the restaurant, and we even parked in a shady spot. There was an updated stairway leading to Poor Red's lanai, where we chose to sit with our dog (yes! Dog-friendly lanai!). Our waitress, I believe her name was Brittany (it's been a couple of weeks, so forgive me if I've gotten it wrong) was warm and welcoming.

I ordered a rack of ribs (so I'd have plenty to take home), garlic fries, and I simply had to try one of their famous Gold Cadillacs (invented here!). It was tasty. The ribs were perfect: soft with enough of a bite, sauce not too hot, not too sweet, a good rub, and just enough smoke. I had ribs for lunch for days!

My husband had a burger, cooked well, which is his usual go-to meal. Oddly enough although he always orders it this way, 9 times out of 10 at other restaurants, this burger is served to him very pink, even red, inside and he has to send it back for more cooking. Not at Red's. His burger was perfectly cooked, his fries were sublime, not those nasty dried-out shoestring fries that have become du jour, but proper crisp-on-the-outside-soft-the- inside fries.

We asked for a side of mayonnaise and one of horseradish (we dip our fries in them, yeah, pretty much Belgian/German), and the horseradish was perfect--tasty and hot--and they served us real mayo. Even the condiments matter at Poor Red's. If you eat meat, GO HERE!
