Hangtown Cantina

This is probably the the only other restaurant I have been to that brings out salsa that not only has it's own distinct flavor, but also is spicy enough where I'm not asking my server to bring something more spicier than the tomato juice I often find in majority dine-in Mexican restaurants. I ordered fish tacos which were good, but the sauce was doused on each individual taco making the corn tortillas quickly soggy. That was my only complaint, but I still found the food of high quality.

Frannie C is a terific server/hostess, and their tacos are GREAT! I had the 4 Carnitas tacos, my daugher had the 4 shrimp tacos, and her partner/BF had the 4 smoked brisket tacos. We split an order of red chile rice & frijoles and all had Modello Especiales. Great food, great service, great ambiance, and great prices ($56 all in with tax & tip)

Food. Service. Atmosphere. All 10/10. Indoor outdoor seating reserved parking for free. The brunch was great and exploding with tons of meat. My wife and I agreed best done eggs EVER on the chilaquiles.

Very good flavor in the food! From the chips and salsa to the main dish all tasted great. Cool decor throughout the place. Service was quick and courteous, we got there at 7 and they close at 8. Not very busy during the week at that time. Much busier on the weekend. I would definitely recommend going here.

Driving back from Tahoe stopped into Placerville and Hangtown Cantina caught my eye. Super cute, good food and good service

We just happened to see they were serving brunch - so glad we went in! I had the chicken and waffles with jalapeño syrup. Loved it! Also, be sure to get an order of beignets!!

This place ...OMG!! Sooooo good!. Had the 3 mix Fajitas, steak,chickenshrimp with beans rice and guac,pick and sour cream...its absolutely worth the price!! Great customer oriented atmosphere. With the great staff,food and hospitality you can't get a better deal...you guys get.....100 STARS!!!

Friendly service, great margaritas and the food was outstanding! Came to Placerville for a wine tasting event and stopped here afterwards for dinner. Worth the stop!

I would give this place 6 stars out of 5 if it was possible.Everything from food to decor to ambience was extra ordinary.Now it has become my go to place when ever i feel like eating good mexican food i just go to Tortilla flats

Great ride and then a great lunch. This is probably some of the best Chili Verde I've had in a long time. Very tender and spiced just right. Rice and beans were good as well. Very attentive and efficient staff Definitely worth the stop.

Stopped in for a quickie lunch and cup of coffee. Fast, friendly, fun service, excellent music and reasonably priced lunch menu. Coffee freshly brewed. I was solo but didn't feel alone. 😁

The people here are so friendly. The vibes are excellent. The good is off the hook. Don't have more then one margarita unless you want to fall asleep. They are very sneaky. Love this place big-time. Tip your beautiful waitress well. 😉

Great service and authentic food, loved their decor and music as well. Their salsas were very awesome, one of the best Mexican restaurants I have been to.

Delicious dinners I had the chicken tacos they were fresh and delicious. My husband had the apple jalapeño carnitas and they were perfectly sweet! We tried the churros with caramel sauce and they were amazing! Highly recommend

Tracy was a fantastic greeter, server, bar tender!! She made our evening so special and we felt well taken care of. Love the few atmosphere, menu, and staff!! Was refreshing since it's been years since I was at this restaurant. They made great improvements and can't wait to go back!

Great! Primarily Mexican food, but there is a small menu from their sister restaurant consisting of typical American food. I had the burger and the rest of our party ordered food from the Mexican menu. Food was delicious and service was excellent and friendly. Because of staffing issues they are operating at limited capacity which impacts their hours of operation. Should call ahead.

I had not been in since the ownership changed for the 4th time in what seems like just as many years. Once I finally went in, I was very pleasantly surprised. Everything I had was delicious. Aside from the Mexican American menu I was used to, there was a whole other menu with some items I was not expecting to see. The server was excellent. I highly recommend checking it out. Go for the loaded fries or the street tacos and don't forget a margarita on the rocks!

We have been to this restaurant before COVID happened. Same great good, same friendly service but this time it was even better. Ordering at a makeshift booth in the parking lot, then sitting at picnic tables in the same lot on a warm but pleasant Sunday afternoon, everyone seemed more gentle, more kindly than would seem appropriate in such a difficult situation. We'll be back soon for the good food and sweet neighborhood feel. The way everything was set up, we could tell they cared about their customers. Simple but nice menu, reasonable prices and just damn good all the way around.
