I was passing through the area in May of 2005 and decided to stop in for a visit not knowing what the hours of operation that day. I found that I had arrived less than an hour before closing. Nevertheless, the staff were quite friendly and encouraged me to look around the fort. It is a wonderful recreation of the historic fort and well worth the visit if you are passing nearby. It would be a great place to bring the kids to learn a bit of history. It would also be a great place to just come to have a picnic!

A very well-done reconstruction. There are a couple of short videos to watch. One about the history of the fort. Then another about all the activities at the fort through out the year and in the surrounding community. Both were well done. The buildings were nicely done with informative signs, and some had individuals in period dress, providing short talks, demonstrations, and answering questions. Those individuals were all friendly and knowledgeable. We were able to watch the blacksmith make a candle stick that we then purchased from the gift shop, a very nice keepsake. It was an enjoyable and educational stop. Two or three hours at most, if you really spend time with the demonstrators, watching them work and asking questions.

Nice campground, friendly staff, sites have water/electric and a few have full hookups. Best showers ever, nice and warm. A few sites you can see the river, but be sure you check how long the RV pad is before you book. Nice bike riding and walking to the river and history of the original Boonesbourough Fort.

Great place to learn how settlers lived during the expansion west. The fort offers historical demonstrations through out the year, with winter being the slow season.

What a cool place full of colonial/pioneer history. You can park right at the fort or park further down the park and walk a short paved trail up to the park (it is a slightly inclined trail). The park has a small museum as you enter the fort. I wish it had more items for sale like t-shirts or magnets. It sells a few hand made items from that time period like hand dipped candles , wooden spoons, etc. Once you enter the fort, each little part focuses on a certain area like gunsmith; cloth spinning; wood working; pottery, etc. Some have employees demonstrating the craft and dressed as in the time period. A few parts are replicas of things like a tavern, living quarters, etc. There are bathrooms on each end and one side has a small auditorium that plays a short film about the fort. All of the staff were very friendly and knowledgeable. I’d estimate 1-3 hours here, depending how much you read the displays and look at the artifacts. It’s a very cool place and I’d highly recommend it if you are passing thru the area .

I went there for a family reunion and had a wonderful time both had the reunion and then when I went to the campground. Campground is secure and they have a wonderful little General Store there. The people in the store are so helpful and the gentleman who patrols the campground is so helpful. I had just bought a tent that goes on the back of an SUV and had never put it up. The directions were not great and it actually required two people after I watch the video so I was by myself and I had it all over the place. He came over he helped me get it up and secure so I was able to stay there and camp that night in side my little SUV tent. The prices of items within the little store are not much more than you would pay going to Dollar General. I know that cuz I've run up the street to Dollar General to pick up a few things that I forgot and then when I came back I was comparing some of the prices and they were not much more. So if you forgot something don't worry about leaving Campground just going into that little general store. I would definitely put this on your list of places to stay for a vacation.

Great Campground, fresh bathrooms and a constant security patrol throughout the night. Yeah I would definitely stay here again. One thing though is the picture of spot 160 is not a picture of 160. Please see my pictures of spot 160 for reference.

What a great experience. Not what we expected, but so pleasantly surprised. Full fort, with people in character to explain how life would have been like. A definite stop for those who enjoy history.

Great place to walk around and see parts of history. There is a whole campground adjacent with hook-ups. You can walk right down to the river. There are a few picnic areas with free-standing grills for use. There are lots of picnic tables for public use. There are also restrooms. There are a couple different monuments to see and read about.

Lots of greenery and we learned a few things at the fort during one of their living history days. There's an area with a playground and a nice half mile hike for those who enjoy trekking like I do.

Loved this fort. It isn't original, as the original no longer stands, but it is a great replica and lots of actual museum items thougout that are from that time. The living historians were great! They walked you through what time was like in those days and demonstrated blacksmithing, spinning and candlemaking. We had a great time! Spent a little over an hour there. Short day trip to visit the fort. It was educational and good for those who enjoy history. My favorite part was the demonstrations from workers dressed in attire from long ago. Most cabins you could walk into and felt like you were going back in time. It's worth seeing.

Being a decedent of Daniel Boone it was very interesting for my children and I. The staff were very clear and historically accurate to the time period. Highly recommend trip to see.

This is a great state park to explore with kids. The fort itself is amazing but the best part is all the little trails and spots the kids can play on and become a great learning experience while doing it. Down the road there is also a historical spot where the Calloway kidnapping happened and a cemetery where some of the original settlers are buried. Just a great area for a quick day trip

Very nice and well maintained place. Very clean restrooms. Loved that you could get down to the water and explore. My pups and I enjoyed it.
