Whistle Stop Inn

We were there for a 90th birthday party and as usual the food was excellent especially the macaroni salad and the scalloped potatoes. Roast beef was tender and very tasty. Wait staff was awesome and very attentive.

Great food but you need to serve fried green tomatoes. You simply cannot have a restaurant named whistle stop without it. Do it asap! Lol

Anniversary party...the hosts treated us like family..lovely, friendly and even funny! Food choices were wonderful...room was large enough and set up very nice...

I had a very good fish fry. The beer batter was thin and very crisp, which ensured the fish was nice and moist. The salad bar has a nice variety of sides and several soups.

Beautiful 50th wedding anniversary party. Food was very good.

Went there for a surprise birthday party. Patrick (our bartender) was funny, feisty and so fun having serve us. If I lived in the area, I would definitely go back.

I have so many great memories of this place from eating there as a kid. Good food, friendly service, and always exciting when a train goes by.

Had our group Thanksgiving meal at the Whistlestop. Excellent food and friendly speedy service. The only time the coffee stopped flowing was when the servers brought out the food. Other restaurants serve maybe 2 cups and that's it. Unlike most restaurants the servers are not locked into certain tables. All servers take care of all tables. Ask anyone for help and you get it immediately.

Had a funeral luncheon planned for a later time but circumstances moved up time frame. Even though we were 46 minuted early they were very accommodating and got things done early for us. They were great and all was good.

I love this place, hours they are open are very limited, but it is definitely a nice place to go and have a drink or 2

Everybody is so nice and the food is always good, hot and out in a timely fashion. Tonight was interesting because our youngest got sick at the table. We felt so bad and embarrassed because this was the first time this has ever happened. The staff handled the situation perfectly and we were so grateful because we understand that it is not their job to clean up after our kids especially that. We would like to apologize to the other patrons that were eating there. I hope that we did not cause too much of a disturbance. We have eaten there on many occasions and the staff is remarkable. Glad we have a place in Alden like The Whistle Stop Inn to enjoy a nice family night out!

Not much to look at but the service and the food are the BEST!

We've been going there for a few years and it's always great. They have a phenomenal salad bar with 5-6 soups and all homemade sides. Their German potato salad is awesome.

We were there for dinner tonight and the fish was perfection. The kids had chicken fingers and gobbled them up. They were a nice sized portion too. My wife usually just gets the salad bar and has more than enough to eat.

While the food is good, our favorite waiter is by far the best I've ever experienced. I believe his name is Pat. In any event, he makes you feel welcome and is always on top of things. He's always making someone smile or laugh, he deserves a round of applause. He truly is part of why we go there. It makes it just that much better. If you go there you'll figure out who he is in about 10 seconds. The other staff is great too. Everyone you pass will say hi and smile, this is truly a gem of a restaurant.

There is however one downside. They're only open on Fridays. They do serve food at the bar during the rest of the week, but the dining room is only open Fridays.

You will not be disappointed.

Highly recommended! Definitely 5 Stars...would gladly give 10 Stars. The food was amazing, the staff is by far the friendliest! Everyone takes the time to not only say hello and everyone smiles. Would highly recommend and plan on returning for another meal!

Love this place.. Accidentally received the wrong soup..As soon as I returned home I called and they actually got in their car and drove the right soup all the way to my home..This is unbelievable because I don't know of any other restaurants that would do this for anyone.. Thankyou very much for caring for your customers...

Great staff and atmosphere. I really like the fish fry and salad bar has great soups. You can watch trains go by while you eat, and they have a full size bar. Nice place...

Owners and employees are all extremely nice here. Service is always great and the atmosphere is wonderful. Makes you feel like your at a friend's house visiting.
