Pinkus Dermatopathology Laboratory Reviews

My dermatologists have all used this lab for sending samples to, and they are incredibly accurate. I trust their judgments on all findings. I’m sad to see people complaining in all the reviews about the billing practices, but not commenting whether or not their test results were accurate and possibly life saving. The work they do is beyond compare.

Pinkus has been treating my family for years, and always gives me reassurance that my diagnoses will always be correct coming here. I will only send my family to physicians who send to Pinkus. It is sad when patients have no idea where their biopsies are sent, and how many cancers can be missed with a bad Dermpath!

This is one of the best dermatopathology labs in the country. I am a dermatologist and I have been sending my biopsies there for almost 40 years. They don't over-bill.

This is supposed to be a very good laboratory; however, their billing department/system is horrendous. My husband had a biopsy done back in September 2021. His doctor sent the sample to Pinkus Labs. We had no idea who Pinkus was or that we owed them money until a collection notice showed up in the mail in March 2022. Judging by the other reviews on here, it seems like we aren't the only ones who have had this issue. The bill would have been paid in full had we actually received it. A collection notice shouldn't serve as a medical bill.

Apparently they are too cheap to hire somebody to send out second notices before sending it to collection. I m going to inform my Doctor of their practices and ask him to change to a more reputable lab. I'll call the BBB as well. Phil W.

Received a bill for $250 with no explanation for what? Been trying to call the number listed on the statement for 3 days now at different times of the day but goes to a voicemail saying phone system is down, call back next business day.

Be suspicious if you are receiving a statement from this company. I am still researching online about who they are.

Any feedback would be appreciated.

No clue what it is. I just have received one with $60 USD and preparing myself for higher interest rate anything to buy for needy after damage the credit. Nice to see more people with same situation and I am not alone. Extra 2 point interest from everybody could be big amounts. Good luck everyone including myself.

Same thing has happened to me as many others who’ve commented here.

Will be reporting them to the BBB. I suggest all others do the same if this has happened to them.

Also, I definitely will not be going back to the Dermatologist that used them as a lab

Worst billing practices and incompetent customer service. I received a bill marked final notice, but it did not state my date of service, what the charges were for, how much my insurance paid, or even how much I owed. The section that you tear off and send in said, "you can help us in 3 easy steps." 1. Sign and date the form. 2. Fill out your insurance info on the back of form. 3. Mail in completed form.
Customer service rep had no explanation, except that the form must have been sent in error! But that I owed $71.63. When I told her that I already paid that amount, she insisted that I must have had 2 different procedures done, so there was was an identical charge for the second procedure. Im taking the bill to my dermatologist and filing a complaint with her and the BBB.

I see I am not the only person that has had to deal with the lab's VERY shady business practices. They don't bill insurance. They don't care if they get your address correct. They will send collection agencies for the money they didn't bill insurance for.

After damage to my credit, I paid them the $250 they claimed I owed them. I had them send me letters that my account was settled. 2 DAYS LATER, THEY HAVE SENT ME A BILL FOR A SECOND $250.

Extortion. Totally unethical likely illegal.

Speak with your Dermatologist and insist that they NEVER send samples to these monsters.

Evil, evil company.

I never once got a bill from them and then found out they reported a pidly 80 dollar bill to my credit that said I owed it for over a year and yet I had no clue about it. This place is a joke! I would've paid the bill had I known about it.

Never sent a bill, but reported "unpaid debt" to collection agency. Thanks for damaging our credit over a $95 lab fee we never knew about.

I wouldn't even give this lab a one star. I requested my sons slides to be sent to Beaumont 3 weeks ago and have called them twice to follow up and they still have not been sent. Would NOT recommend using them at all! Terrible service!

Shady billings practices.

So you walk into your doctors office and get service. The doctor uses Pinkus Laboratories to process a lab you need done. You never know that Pinkus was used. You never receive a bill. Instead, you get a collections notice a year later.

Whenever Pinkus has an issue mailing the patient, instead of calling the patient, or contacting the doctor's office (who had our correct information), they send the bill to a collection agency.

I never gave Pinkus any wrong contact information because I NEVER interacted with them. I'm guessing they had the wrong contact information from the last time a doctor sent something to them on my behalf. It makes no sense why they wouldn't reach back to the doctor's office to get the up to date contact information.

Pinkus makes no effort to work with their doctor's offices to make sure they have the up to date contact information, instead they just forward to collections.

A terrible company that generates a lot of headache for the people they are supposed to be serving.

This place will attempt to steal money from you by sending you false billing statements for services you do not authorize. How it works is a local doctor will claim they need to send out a result to a lab and when that happens you can expect a bill from a third party that you get no say in. When you call to find out what is this about they are nasty to you like you are a criminal. I'm just questioning why your actions are criminal and who authorized you to bill me for a service I did not request?

Bill sent to collections even though I talked with them directly and gave them updated insurance information on two occasions. Seems like this tactic is their modus operandi.

They reported me to the Bureau over $70 that I know nothing about.
I've never used them but I can only assume my Dr must of sent them something and didn't tell me anything about it.
My credit score dropped 60 points over this yesterday.
I never received any call or bill.

Very rude staff, very shady billing practices. I would recommend highly not doing business with them. They don’t answer their phones often, when they do they are extremely rude. There’s a reason there a 1 star rating from everyone. BEWARE of this company and it’s terrible business practices.

Very shady company. They won’t bill your insurance and then they take you to collections for $65. I’m not paying them a dime.
