Waterway Inn

The staff are all very kind, hospitable folks. The rooms are in good condition, and the location is quite convenient for travelers going North. The price is far more than fair, so I'd recommend that other travelers headed this way consider staying here too.

The motel was great! The owners checked us in and gave us a great tour of the place. The motel has great outdoor seating area with a campfire. The motel is close to town and has a great walking trail right next to the motel that allows you walk to town. The owner went above and beyond and gave us a great list and reviews on restaurants in the area for us to visit. Will for sure be coming back and staying there again when we are in the area.

The room was super clean, comfortable bed and a great location. Chris and his staff were friendly and helpful. We highly recommend Waterway Inn.

What a great find! Chris was so pleasant when checking us in, the room was impeccably neat and tidy, the parking lot was broom-swept and clean; and there was easy on and off interstate access. I would not hesitate to stay here again. Highly recommend!

Pound for pound, you can not beat this place. If you are staying in Indian River, this is far and away the best choice. The new owners are wonderful to deal with and you can see the pride and love they have poured into the remodel of this hotel. We stayed in the room designed for those of us traveling with pets. I won't spoil the surprise, but if you're like me and cringe at the pet fee, I can promise you will check out with a smile. Very well done start to finish. You won't be disappointed.

4th stay at Waterway. The new owners have done an outstanding job updating their property. Very clean, bathroom was newly constructed. Love the new shower head and water pressure. Top notch. Stayed three nights. Plenty of room to park my boat. Checkin/out process simple when you prepay. See you again soon

We stayed at Waterway while visiting Indian River and we're not disappointed at all. In fact, we were very pleased with our stay. We travel a lot and I can say this hotel is among the top. The rooms were exceptionally clean and cozy. It is obvious that great care is given when getting a room ready for guests. The owner Chris, who checked us in, was very accommodating and helped to make this whole trip pleasant.

We stayed three nights over the 4’th of July 2024 Holiday and we stayed here last year.

This was the 2nd time we stayed at Waterway Inn for a high school fishing tournament on Indian River. Clean rooms, friendly staff and great accommodations for our truck and boat. We will defiantly be back.

Owners Chris and Jess have breathed new life into this traditional Mom and Pop. We chose this place because it was about halfway on our trip to visit family. Liked it so much we booked the same room for the return trip. The evening was cool so we relaxed awhile beside the fire ring.
Admittedly, this place is not new, but it is freshly painted and rooms are kept very clean which matters to us. We loved the pillow top Full XL mattresses. The extra length will be appreciated by anybody on the tall side. The pickups with company logos in the parking places tell us this is a good choice for construction workers wanting a clean room and a comfortable night's rest. Laundry service is available.
Update:
We chose Waterway Inn again on our Christmas family visit. My wife says this place already feels like home. Housekeeper, Kristy, thinks their emphasis on cleanliness and friendliness might be the reason why. Carpenter, James, points to Chris' ability to tap into each individual's strengths and provide a vision for the future. Our dog likes the North Central State Trail which is just a few steps outside the door of the Pet Friendly room thoughtfully designed by Jess. I like their focus on things we value and not on frills that may raise the room rate, but add little to our experience. Waterway Inn will be our choice again the next time we pass through.

Large clean rooms and the beds were comfortable. Right off the highway with a walking tail that goes to the water. Will definitely stay again.

Just returned from Waterway Inn recently and we had a great experience renting one of the trailer homes. The appliances were great including what looked like a new whirlpool stove. The heat worked great, the internet was good quality and good speed, plus little extras for my dogs like bowls and a dog bed, we didn’t use them but it’s indicative of how the owners are customer focused and care about their establishment. I would love to stay here again and will strongly recommend Waterway Inn to others as a great place to stay with great service! So many good things to say about our experience! Stayed for a short stop late last night. VERY NICE place. Would recommend to anyone! I was returning from taking my granddaughter back to college.

I had to do a re-write because I would give this place 6 stars if I could. The couple that owns the property are "a class act". Their sense of pride is evident throughout the establishment and the rooms are truly immaculate for a small motel. Their attention to detail makes things easy when you just want to check in and relax.

Great resting place for a weary traveler perhaps on your way up North?

Jess and Chris (the owners) are fantastic. Jess even started a bonfire for me. If you're traveling through the area I highly recommend this establishment. Clean rooms and excellent customer service. Thank you again for the accomodations and the great service!

The room was very clean. The hostess was wonderful. We had a great stay. This was our best experience on our 10 day vacation. They made our little poodle, Gracie feel special as well. They provided a basket of pet toys and biscuits Thank you for such a wonderful stay

We were surprised by how good the rooms were for the price. Easy off and on I-75. Very clean and comfortable, especially the beds and shower. Smelled clean, well vacuumed, fresh sheets, roomy.
Chris was very welcoming and was thorough in going over the rules. Ate at food trucks and live music in nearby park. Chris gave us free passes to the great third Sunday of the month VFW breakfast which he was also at with his family. Free wifi and all TV channels streaming was a bit iffy but it didn't matter much as we were so tired. Fire pit in back would have been nice if we hadn't been so tired.

Located by the snowmobile and unpaved bike trail. Rooms have been remodeled and our nicely decorated. Great value. Roll away bed should be updated, very saggy. Due to rain and being on bikes (no car) we asked if the owner would be willing to take us to our cars in Petoskey, he agreed, we couldn't have asked for a nicer driver/motel owner!!! They even allowed us a late checkout for no cost.

A wonderfully comfortable and affordable option, and the management was lovely. The grounds are great too. We just needed an overnight so it didn't have to be anywhere fancy, but I'm very glad we ended up here because it's so nice. Loved the shower, the furniture, and the wood paneling, it was overall super cozy. I hope my whole family can travel together next time and we can try out one of the adorable trailers!

Great place to stay in Indian River! Room was better than expected. Very clean; and spacious. The bed's were very comfortable, and 4 pillows was a luxury. Very easy check-in with an owner, who was very friendly and helpful. Very convenient to everything Indian RIver has to offer. Will stay here again!
