Allagash Canoe Trips Reviews

My husband and I had a great time on our 5-day Allagash trip (Sept 12-16 Adult trip). We had a mix of novice and experienced canoers on our trip and Chip guided us all safely down the river. His instruction and tips for paddle strokes and reading the river were very helpful. I am a novice and felt supported by both Chip and the group.
Chip's outdoor culinary skills are remarkable. I was particularly impressed with his baking prowess (banana bread, corn bread, yeast rolls, coffee cake). The food is tasty and plentiful.
If you are a novice, consider the 7-day trip to build canoeing skills before tackling Chase Rapids.

I had heard a lot of good things about Chip and Lani before taking my first trip down the Allagash with them. I opted for a 7-day trip and was glad I did! The other reviews are totally spot on. The experience was absolutely wonderful and one that I will always remember fondly. Great food (quite possibly the best I have had while camping, and plenty of it), great people (I believe we had 15 total in our group), and a lot of fun and excitement. Chip really does know the area like the back of his hand, and both Chip and Lani are very friendly and knowledgeable and fun to watch in action. I am hooked and already planning on coming back for a Canada trip in the near future!

I recently did an amazing 7-day Allagash trip with Chip. He sure is a man with so much wisdom and respect about and for nature. I was in awe of his many abilities and leadership qualities. He managed 6 people of different ages and backgrounds with grace and respect. He planned and cooked delicious meals for us every day, effortlessly. And he kept everyone safe. I finished the trip with so much gratitude and admiration for him. I highly recommend Allagash Canoe Trips and Chip, of course.

Did a trip a few years ago alone (with a group).. loved it.. 5 days.. on the Allagash with Chip and Lani... raved so much that this year we (wife and I) went back for 7 days. Really a wonderful trip and great food. Baked items on the fire every day. Last day of our trip a storm was projected to (and did) roll in , heavy wind and some rain. Chip and Lani were on top of it days before and got us to a safe campsite that night. Can't wait to go back...

I had the privilege of having both Chip & Lani as guides for a trip down the St. John River. They are the owners and top notch guides for one of the oldest canoe guiding companies in the state. They are experienced, knowledgeable, and very skilled. We were in excellent hands and the food is 5 star restaurant quality in the back country.

We had a wonderful time with Lani, who took us through rapids, head winds, and even an August frost with an unmatched knowledge of the water and a great sense of what was needed! Our two inexperienced paddlers learned to steer, and we could not have navigated the water without her help. Wouldn't have done it without her. Thanks Lani!
