Great experience, and the history is amazing. Second trip on the Katahdan and we would do it again. Perfect weather, and everyone was very professional.

Really neat place to learn more about the history of the fire wardens. The views are good (not the best in the area), but I was more interested in the information and tools they had there anyways.

Beautiful area. The woman at the visitor's center was incredibly helpful and kind. We had a nice trip up to the lake, and now we have tons of ideas for our next trip.

The great little town in the middle of nowhere. Hard to review since it rained the entire time, but we were finally able to see about eight different moose. Not crazy about the loggers that don't replant.

Beautiful little hiking trail there. The fire tower had the most flies I seen in one spot. Kids didn't want to go in it. I went in and out want able to see anything inside the tower. The information center was very helpful. The lady ( I didn't catch her name) was very helpful. Had some neat photos and items from the area. We will stop again during our next visit to Greenville

Loved everything about the Moosehead Lake area except for the bugs! Beautiful, quiet area with no fast food restaurants or major shopping centers. Reminded us a little if Fairbanks, Alaska.

Saw a juvenile moose and stayed at Lily bay park. Get campground 222 if you are in a tent. It is unlike any campground we've been in before. Fantastic. There are these two deer that are completely not afraid of people (little.concerning since you can hunt outside the park and it's not that large)

A nice little rest area as you're approaching Greenville Maine. Picnic tables and a public information building as well as great views and a fire tower with equipment that was formerly used to navigate and communicate. The public information building has rest rooms and a great deal of info on the region. Stop on and stretch your legs and take in the scenery!

We were looking for boondocking sites and we were able to get a great map here. The woman who was there was very knowledgeable on a variety of subjects. There is a small lookout tower with views of the lake.

We were the first ones there at 10 in the morning on June 9th, and the lady that helped us was great. She guided us for 30 minutes as we asked her questions about our three night stay, camping in the area, including where and how to see moose. She is probably under-paid, but deserves a raise for the great guidance she gave us!

The spiral staircase was actually pretty sturdy, and I'm not very lite. The view was unreal. They have this map thing that I've never seen before it was very educational. But the view took the cake.

Moosehead area has a lot going on. If you hike, fish, camp, boat, swim, bike, hunt, snowmobile, ski, snowboard, kayak, climb, 4x4, ATV, or just like drinking beer in the woods.....you will love it. Upon arriving, you may look around and wonder how the heck all these locals survive up there....well pat yourself on the back....it is because of you! So get out your wallet, rent a bike, buy some beer and enjoy this awesome archetypal Maine town! Seriously, it's an amazing location for outdoor activities and general fun having.

Moosehead Lake is a huge long lake in the Greenville town area. Many outdoor activities are centered around the Lake such as boating, hunting, fishing, moose and bear watching, flying and hiking. I didn't go hunting but I always enjoy looking at the wildlife just as we did in Alaska two years ago. The views of the mountains are specktacular and you can see the skiing and snowboarding trails near the lake. If you do go see the lake, be careful of the logging trucks and moose on the road.
