Great access and customer service. Like having our camper in a locked, monitored facility. Thanks!

I am a current customer having rented two units for two years with a (perfect) payment record, 1 complaint = (great customer). I had decided to vacate my unit due to several factors. Apparently, then I was deemed a unpleasant customer. First, when I called the office to ask about contents insurance for my belongings in light of the recent flooding out west I was told they do not offer any insurance for customer's contents. Another reason being that I had or possibly still have a water leak in my unit which, led to 6 (not a couple) of my moving boxes becoming wet and subsequent mold growth on my boxes. I replaced my boxes and had asked via email for a leak repair and reimbursement for packing materials that needed to be replaced because of the roof leak. I was NOT contacted by the owner at all rather, I had to call the owner after waiting two days with no reply. My reimbursement request was denied but a credit was offered if I rent from this business again. There was no offer to me of an alternate unit to store my contents in a dry unit. I stated that I would dispute my payment transaction for my unit rent with my credit card company based on my loss then the owner claimed via email to me to have installed a double lock on my unit. He then stated after I questioned him about the legality of the double lock since I had paid my rent on time that he would remove it and did so. When I attempted to unlock my own lock on my unit after the double lock had been removed, my own lock that I purchased had been tampered with to the extent that I could no longer insert my key into the lock to gain entry into my unit. I called the owner promptly and he claimed that it could have been a dirt dauber that may have nested in my lock during January (ridiculous), or that this facility, according to the owner had been burglarized a lot which, if true is one more reason to reconsider renting from this storage location in my opinion. I can't prove who, tampered with my lock but I did call the police and filed a subsequent police report should anything similar happen again prior to my vacating my unit. The owner stated that I would have to call a locksmith to remove my damaged lock at my expense. The owner stated to me that he was upset and had to cool down a bit because I had requested a leak repair and reimbursement for the purchase of new moving boxes that were ruined by water intrusion into my unit. I told him that I was the victim and that emotions had nothing to do with repairing a water leak or reimbursing me for my loss and then he offered to reimburse me $20.00 for my troubles if I were willing to meet him in person to receive the refund. I stated that it would not be a good idea for he and I to meet due to our opposing email view points and that he could either mail me a refund or credit my credit card if he felt so inclined to follow through with any refund for packing materials that I had to repurchase. My larger unit did not leak so I expect the same with my smaller unit. There was no flood or catastrophic weather event other than rain so of course, one expects their contents to be protected from rain otherwise, we would not need to pay for storage. I trust there will be no further mysterious damages to my lock that will prevent me from entering my unit in order to vacate my contents within the 30 day written notice period. Check with your homeowners or renters insurance agent to ascertain if your contents are covered by your insurance at a storage facility is my advice. Keep in mind that this facility is also situated near a water source for which, you may need additional government flood insurance. Lastly, according to the owner this storage location has become a target of break-ins even though this location is gated and any such break-in or possible theft would not be their responsibility. I would not consider renting from this company again based on my experience with management, break-in claims, rain water leakage, and lock tampering. Thank God for buyer protection on my credit card, receipts, photos and email proof.
