The Grille at Challedon

A group of retired teachers meet once a month for lunch! Today we met here! Albeit, snow covered the links so no golfers but... the food was LEGIT! Crab cakes with Jumbo lump! My salad was crisp, fresh, yummy grilled chicken, shaved parm, and top notch dressing! And the grapefruit crush was freshly squeezed! Thomas, our server, was beyond accommodating! And John, the manager, made a point to come out and greet us! Will most definitely return!

13 friends and I spent last Saturday here, 4 1/2 hours on the course which was in beautiful condition even after 2 very rainy days and then we had lunch. The burgers, BBQ and crab cakes were a huge hit, as were the all beef hot dogs and a very special huge sausage (spicy, but delicious). 2 guys even took home crab cake platters for dinners that evening, as I have done in the past. Nicest thing about the course was the conditions of the greens; fast, but super smooth and fair. Staff was very friendly too.

My husband and I NEVER get to go out (lots of kids, jobs, yadda...) but on the very rare occasion that we do, we ALWAYS chose to go here. The chef is amazing. It is affordable, fabulous atmosphere and incredibly delicious. I am a vegetarian and my husband is NOT. We both enjoy all the options the menu has to offer. The green soup I had last week was incredible. Kudos to the Grille.

We were here during Mt. Airy restaurant week. The crab cake and steak were delicious and perfectly cooked. The salads are pretty and tasty. The cannoli is some of the best I have ever tasted. Service was very good although the Grille was very busy and crowded. It is noisy, and the ambiance is a golf course grill, but the food makes up for it.

Grabbed lunch at the Grille this week! So glad I did. Had Orange Smash's (by Devil's Backbone) which were so fun! They have all the flavors! The chips & salsa were so fresh & flavorful, smoked pork wrap with avocado was delicious & they served the best ranch dressing! (you know, if you know) Kudos to Chef John & the team. Will be back to check out their other offerings.

December 17 at 6 o’clock we were looking for a good dinner we live in the neighborhood. They had an issue with their online orders. They were very apologetic and discounted our order. The staff handled the problem very well. . The food was worth the wait. Good job!

Service was outstanding, and the food was surprisingly good. I expected golf course grill-type quality. My steak was one of the best I've had around here (better than the chain steak restaurants). The atmosphere feels a bit out of place (is it a grill or a resturant?), but that's my one and only quibble.

Great golf, great food, and great people! This is not your typical golf clubhouse food. Amazing crab cakes and everything else I have tried has been delicious. If you're reading this review for the golf, Challedon is a gem of a course that is well cared for. If you're a hack like I was my whole life, do yourself a favor and stop trying to do it on your own. I finally decided to get lessons from a PGA pro and Challedon's Jim Smithburger is the man. My daughter and I started with Jim a few weeks ago and I cannot believe how well I am playing. In just two lessons Jim has me hitting the ball so much farther and straighter and consistently it just brings a big smile to my face after every hit. And my daughter has a better swing already than I did before starting with Jim. There is no video you can watch or swing aid you can buy that can do what a PGA pro did for us in just two lessons. Golf is way more fun and I can't wait for our next lesson.

This is my favorite place to eat while in Mt Airy. Can't say enough of about the food. Big menu with many options for the entire family. Terrific atmosphere as well. It won't disappoint.

A real hidden jewel in Mt Airy. Food is great. Service is friendly and quick. Prices are reasonable. Atmosphere is great overlooking the 18th hole.

Bad A$$ culinary skills in kitchen. Smoked chicken was delectable. No complaints about my beautiful attentive funny server!

We had fantastic burgers after playing gold and there is great outdoor seating. We will return to try their full dinner menu.
