My grandmother had surgery here yesterday. The center was out of Versed, Demerol, and liquid Valium and yet they still continued to perform surgery on people who were awake during their procedure. She woke up sobbing and screaming in pain and the nurse told her to ‘stop’ and to ‘keep her voice down’. We were given no discharge instructions, her discharge paperwork isn’t signed by anyone, and she wasn’t sent home with extra wound dressings even though she was bleeding through the first dressing. I cannot believe that the anesthesiologist or the doctor, Dr Tom Porter, didn’t refuse to do the surgery in a place that didn’t have what was required for a smooth procedure. It was unethical, unprofessional, and downright dangerous. This center should be shut down for lack of compassion and incompetence. When the administrator came over she acknowledged that she was aware of all the center’s failings and how they need to do better. It should be a criminal offense to continue to operate a surgery center when the administrator knows it isn’t quality care. Shame on this place. Shame, indeed.
