Great piece of history that you are able to walk through, touch and see. The volunteers are excellent and really make this something worth the trip to see. There are only two of these left in the lower 48 and the only one where you can walk every deck.

I really wasn't sure what to expect but this was an extremely interesting place to visit. The staff are all so friendly and provide a lot of interesting information on the dredge gold mining operation. This is well worth driving to and paying the admission fee. Fascinating history!

Quite a sight to see. Well worth checking out if you are in the area. The tour is well worth doing, I have been through it a few times. Last time I went through there was some damage from winter snow that closed off part of the tour which was a shame, you can still see the area you just couldn't go into the damaged area.

Driving up the road to the dredge you'll see ridges of rock the dredge left along its way. Be sure to stop and read the road signs - they really enhance your understanding. Regrettably, we arrived after hours (10:00 am to 4:30 pm as of July 2020), so we didn't get to tour the inside. Even so, it was well worth the visit to the outside only.

A snippet into the gold industry and the hard work involved. The information people are really good. But the tailings leave such land destruction. Very sad.

It was so much fun coming out and seeing a little bit of Idaho history. It's fun for all ages especially if you are into history and how things were done in the past! The people helping with the tour were very informative and gave fun tidbits you wouldn't have known otherwise. If you have a chance I would definitely recommend making the trek out!

The dredge is still in great shape and the story of how it used to operate is fascinating. The volunteers are very knowledgeable/helpful. Recommend the tour to understand better how the gold/silver was mined and extracted. Must have been long hard shifts!
Glad we stopped by for a visit.

Love it here, could spend all day at this place. Not hard to get here (just no cellphone service at all (unless satellite phone) lol) , most cars can get here without a problem. The volunteers here are super knowledgeable and for only $5 per adults and even less for kids makes it worth it

Very interesting piece of history.

If you're around Custer, Idaho, and are interested in history, this dredge is worth a stop. Run by volunteers and the forest service, the tour is very interesting.

We took the Custer Motorway road from Challis. We had a truck with a camper, pulling a trailer, and did just fine. Just long, and hot to get there.

Loved it. Great old history and the staff was very engaging. I will be going back. A side note for a benefit is my Verizon Cell phone had service inside. Despite one volunteer who bashed on Simplot I really enjoyed the experience. The bashing was tasteless and unnecessary.

What an awesome piece of machinery. Unfortunately visited during the off-season so didn't get a chance to tour the inside. Definitely would return.
