Carmen’s Cafe

Very delicious homemade ice-cream 😋. So good in fact we went two days in a row to try new flavors. My daughters also really liked the cotton candy. I know it's cliche, but all the flavors we tried were absolutely perfect. I had the cookie dough and chocolate flavors. My wife had the oreo and coffee. My daughters had the cotton candy ice-cream. We all emphatically enjoyed our sweet treat. Great location with plenty of parking. Love the fact it's the old DQ location. There is also gaming available which is always a nice touch. Plenty of seating and most importantly the staff was very friendly! The do offer burgers and fries as well. I haven't tried any yet, but I will have to check it out next visit.

The food here is amazing. Carmen's Special and ice cream! Looks like Herrin has a little known jewel for Southern Illinois. This is my new favorite place to eat.

The paletas are a wonderful treat. Great flavor and texture! The oreo one was awesome.

Street tacos were quite good and the strawberries & cream snack item was a pleasant surprise given that it was made with fresh sliced strawberries and isn't overly sweet!!

This was our first time and I'm looking forward to going back!

Nice little cafe, with a great ice cream selection, fantastic food also from burgers to wings, with Pepsi products and adult beverages, not a bar by no means it is a family style place

This is by far the most authentic Mexican taco and birria place I have found since moving here from Florida a few years ago. Hands down my favorite food in the area 🤤

The two workers were very friendly and helpful. The old dairy queen building has new life now that Carmen's Cafe is there. I am happy to see that this local business is here.

This cafe has a nice crisp and clean feel. The staff is always friendly and professional. They have a generous menu selection, but to be honest, I go for the fresh handmade ice cream. Although their burritos are amazing. They make their own ice cream fresh continually. It's the best tasting cream I've ever eaten. You add that to the friendly and curious staff and the pristinely clean facilities and you have a very nice little cafe. Good food, good people.

Most of the time we have Carmen’s for dinner because our kids enjoy that the Kids Meal includes ice cream.

Kids meal burger is just as big as a regular burger! Good food. Clean restaurant. Good service. The kitchen music is a little too loud for me... but overall, great job owners!

We stopped by Carmen’s after an appointment in Herrin. It did not disappoint. My husband had the brisket sandwich and I had a Birria Taco, a Street Taco, and a cup of Mexican Corn. If you like a taco with some spicy kick, go for the Birria. I loved the corn and steak street taco. To top it off, I had dairy free mango ice cream!!! I will go back again.

We visited for the first time this evening! The brisket sandwich was excellent, as was the ice cream. Prices were reasonable and the service was excellent. We will definitely be going back!

Went for the first time tonight. I was hesitant to try it early on due to so many mixed reviews but wanted to make my own opinion. I'm so glad I did, because it was great. I had a cheeseburger and honestly it was one of the best "fast food" burgers I've had in a very long time. Veggies tasted very fresh. My daughter had the fruit salad and loved it. What a great and healthier alternative for a sweet treat. We will definitely be back! Great addition to Herrin 👏

Love, how they turned the dq into their cafe. The person at the counter was nice. Decent selection of food drink and dessert. Coffee was good. Milkshake was awesome. Got a nice 90s vibe to it

Cheat as always, great food and wide selection of cone icecream.

Great tacos/ burritos. Great burger and cheese curds. Worth checking out. The ice cream is also delicious 😋 10/10 recommend.

They serve homemade Ice creams. We had Burger with bacon fries and drink. Burgers were large, fries were crisp not greasy. Was the old dairy Queen in Herrin. Will go back for Ice cream they had lots of flavors and popsicles in all flavors. We liked it would go back again.

Great place with awesome ice cream! Their chicken is incredible. Anyone giving this place one star clearly doesn’t know what they’re talking about. Go try it yourself! I recommend dipping your chicken in cheese sauce.

I enjoyed this place so much! I got the mangonada and corn in a cup. It was so delicious. I thought I would have to travel miles to get like an actual mangonada, but now we have one, just down the street. I could not be happier. ❤❤❤ Definitely try it out.
