The Flamingo

Fantastic venue for a party! Amy was easy to work with and the price was so much better than other venues!

After driving past for years we finally decided to pay a visit to The Flamingo. This restaurant is only open to the public for supper on Friday evenings. We went specifically for the fish fry dinners. If you are looking for the taste of a midwest fish fry, this is it.

Being an event center, first and foremost, the tables are large and round. You can sit a large party of at least eight at one table, but groups of two and four are still given their own. There is some bar seating further back. This restaurant sees the early bird crowd, so keep that in mind when deciding how early or late you want to eat.

My Alaskan walleye dinner was cooked with the light crispy breading I was looking for. These dinners are served with sides, mine gave coleslaw and a choice of potato. I really liked that the party potatoes were tangy with a vinegar taste. My husband got the full rack of ribs, which also tasted great.

The wait staff was very friendly and they all worked together to clean up. I was so impressed when I saw them clear a large full table in less than a minute.

Overall I will keep coming back. The menu has enough variety to try more, but is small enough to make the decision easy. If you want a low key dinner on a Friday night, give The Flamingo a go.

I hadn't been here in a LONG time. But that will definitely change! The Walleye was AMAZING!! Our server was so nice and pleasant. We will definitely be back very soon!!

I take my mom here almost every Friday. If you want a good steak, this is the place! They have perfectly cut filets that you can cut with your fork. It was prepared exactly medium rare, tender, and absolutely amazing. Probably the best chicken I can find. The chicken sandwich is bigger than most tenderloins. I think they may have the best burger in eastern Iowa. This is the place to go for Lent and any Friday if you just want a great meal.

Went for the All you eat Walleye. It was delicious , great service and friendly staff. Don't judge the book by the cover, the outside looks alittle rundown but the food is great.

We hosted a graduation party for our son's high school graduation. Everything ran smoothly, the staff were super friendly and accommodating. We also received many compliments from the guests saying it was "the best food they've had at a graduation party" would definitely suggest the crab cakes and bacon wrapped green beans.

I've used a number of caterers in the Cedar Rapids area, and Winifred's is the best. The food is delicious. It's delivered promptly, it's fresh, and the plating is lovely. They come the next day and pick up the dirty serving trays. It's a party hostess' dream come true.

I personally think that, for my hard earned dollar, there is no better place in the Northwest C Rapids than the Flamingo. People can get hung up on frivolities like food quality and service, but what they fail to appreciate is ambiance, and nowhere does it better than Flamingo! If you don't respect decent, blue-collar Iowa values, and would prefer some fancy, frou-frou place where they sell you a steak for $20, then this is not the place for you. However, if you like a restaurant with character; Where the BBQ is hot, the beer is cold, and Rock and Roll lives forever, then this is the place for you!

Went for all you can eat walleye on Friday. Great food and wonderful service. Will be back.

Great walleye and pizza tonight! We used to live in this area but had not been to the restaurant since the floods of 2008. We will be back!
