Southside Steakhouse

We decided to come here for a date night and try somewhere new. It was not busy, and the space is gorgeous! Everything is so clean, classy, and very calmly lit. The server was very sweet and prompt. Our food was incredible! Hubby had the New York Strip and I had the steak and veggie pasta. We have a wish list of other items to try. We will definitely be back!!

The steaks were not very good. I’m not sure how they call themselves a steakhouse. But they have an aquarium with a pleco! (There’s some oscars or something too but who cares)

Species looks like Hypostomus plecostomous. It’s about 6-7” long as of Jan 2019.

The tank is only 26-46 gallons, though. That fish is not going to be happy in a tank that small. Poor thing.

Went in on a busy Saturday night and the food was so good!! They looked like they were a little short handed but they handled it well. The staff was working very hard and we had great service!! My New York Strip was perfectly cooked and my friend loved her ribeye. This is a small family owned and ran place. Definitely worth the visit!!! Highly recommended!

Ordered the tenderloin filet cooked to medium and it was perfect. The Mac and cheese was creamy and delicious. My husband ordered a pasta dish and another person at our table ordered the sirloin which was also cooked perfectly. Have driven past this place so many times but had never stopped. So glad we did. Waitress was attentive and took care of our table. Met the the owner and chef. Awesome place!

This place is a jewel in Cedar Rapids for local cuisine. Starts with a great cut of steak and then it was cooked to perfection. Son loved the mac and cheese. Layed back atmosphere with excellent food and service. Definitely will be back, sorry I didn't stop sooner.

The steaks and salmon are the best I've had. It is possible to have a conversation without yelling at each other, unlike other steakhouses. The service is good. my only complaint is that it is a little bit too dark.

Excellent steaks cooked to order. Sirloin was surprisingly tender and a good cut. Asparagus was well cooked and not floppy. Server was pleasant though aloof. Great little place.

Stopped here and not one of the other steakhouses. I am so glad, our food was amazing the staff and chef were also amazing. When in CR this is where we will eat here. My steak was the BEST I have ever had!

Mark was our server, and he was absolutely excellent. Kept us smiling all night, great at keeping the night young and fun! Had an absolute blast for for our 2 year anniversary. Food was delicious. Highly recommend.

Great Steak place. Nice selection of seafood and pastas as well. We were here for New Year's eve. Food and service were great. Steaks were done to perfection. We will definitely be back.

Steak was spot on! Great food! Laid back comfortable place! Chef puts his heart and soul into what he makes! Not many quality steakhouses left keep up the good work!!

Great entrees, the food has never disappointed! There is something for everyone-- even vegetarian options (Zucchini Squash Au Gratin, Soups, Salads), numerous cuts of steak (Prime Rib, Sirloin, New York Strip, Ribeye, Tenderloin, T-Bone), Seafood (Salmon, Cod, whole Catfish) plates of pasta (Alfredo, Ravioli, lobster mac & cheese!) and sandwiches (Brisket, Burgers, Chicken). We will be back again!

I love the food and the atmosphere; the cook is amazing as is the service. I recommend the seafood bisque if you like seafood at all and the blue seared ribeye was fantastic. If you're in the area you gotta try it!

Excellent food, great service. Every single food we ate was delicous! Waitress was very nice. A cozy atmosphere, warm fireplace.

One of our new favorite places! Nicely varied menu of steaks, pasta, burgers etc. Good selection of cocktails and draft beers, including some locals.

Food was amazing steaks were perfect the service was fantastic. I highly recommend to the spinach artichoke dip bread bowl for an appetizer it was amazing

Great cocktail to start, t-bone grilled to perfection. Grilled asparagus was amazing. Top notch!

The food was delicious, atmosphere is great, highly recommend. It's great having a fine dining establishment with a great selection in Cedar Rapids.
