I came here to pick up a CPAP machine. Everything was so perfect and professional. They already set up the machine and everything was ready for me to just go pick it up. In 20 minutes they went over all paperwork and instructions on how to use the machine and I was out. Very efficient. Stephanie on CPAP side was so great and helpful.

December 2017 I received my Equipment from the Home Medical Equipment that is in the Women and Children's building on Governors. Took the equipment home and started using it. After about a month and my follow up Dr. visit, I started having issues with the fit of the device. I called the office to tell them and ask for an exchange. I would get through on the phone and was told that the person I worked with would call me back. That never happened. I know people are busy so after about another month I visited the office personally. We swapped the mask and I went home. BUT the fit on this one, (not done in the office) was worse than the 1st. I tried for a while and then received a bill for the new mask. I was surprised as I was told I could swap the mask as long as it was the same style. Again, I called and tried to get some feedback. Explained the situation with the bill and swapping the mask. I was told they would look into it and get back to me. After about another month received another bill. Again, I called and was told the same thing. This time however, about 1 month later, I received a new bill. Apparently some confusion from the original mask, which they kept, and the second mask. The bill had indication that insurance was filed now and reduced the bill to about 1/4 the original. Still thinking I should owe anything since the original was already paid for, I called again and after a couple weeks decided to visit them in person again. I again went to the office in the Women and Children's building. This time a different person was there. Her name is Sonia (wish I had asked for her last name). Sonia listened to me, made a couple of phone calls and set me up to visit the main location at 600 St. Clair Ave. SW, Huntsville. Sonia, very professionally and friendly reviewed things with me and immediately noted that the mask I was returning was the wrong size. She determined what I was going to need and called Cherish Pharez at the main office to see if she could help. She agreed to see me after she finished with the patient she was with. I thanked Sonia and went to the main office and as promised Cherish came to the lobby and called me back. She reviewed again and was able to set me up and personally fit me with the new mask. I have to say these 2 ladies saved me from becoming a very irate customer. They are top notch - 10 out of 10 is what I would rate them for every category if there were an on-line survey. If I have to call back or deal with Home Medical Equipment again, I will be certain to ask for Cherish. I also highly recommend Sonia. She was great to work with. Unfortunately she was only filling in while the regular employee was on vacation. Actually I guess I should say fortunately for me she was in the office covering for the employee on vacation. Sonia told me she normally works in the field. Both of these ladies were a pleasure to talk to and work with. They explained everything I needed to know and made sure I knew how to reach them if needed.

When the sleep doctor's staff was being less than helpful the ladies at this medical equipment supplier was extremely helpful and bent over backwards to help. From the moment that I walked through the door they treated me well and have been great every since. The lady who handled the equipment took her time and explained everything about the equipment in detail. I have used a CPAP for years and she gave me tips and information that I had never heard before. Just a great group of ladies.

I have had exceptional service from the Home Medical Equipment Group since I received my CPAP machine from them - Stephanie Marion is brilliant at her job and very caring about your needs - extremely knowledgeable of CPAP and how to make it work for you - I can’t say enough about this company and this caring Lady Stephanie - You just don’t see this kind of treatment in a lot businesses anymore - Thanks again!

The staff has been very helpful with the timely providing of my supplies when needed. However, the billing dept needs work. I almost never get an actual bill and now routinely call to check my account after I receive my insurance EOB.

Be aware of your options. Dont rush into this ignorant like I did. Before buying a cpap from them, check your deductible. You may be better off buying it outright. If you buy it without insurance, check online first. My cpap was $100s cheaper online. By the time I realized all that, I was too far invested—I was being charged for “renting” the machine. This issue is more of an insurance thing than a business thing, but be aware. Write out your costs using your insurance and not using your insurance. Buying it outright from these guys won’t make a difference with price, and they don’t price match.

I was overcharged for home oxygen. My co pay was to be $24.10/ month. They were charging me $60.25/ month. I retired from Huntsville Hospital in 2018. Gave up over half of my life to work for HH.
Very poor service from HGA Huntsville!
They don't even deserve 1 star. No one called me to investigate. They just were "ho hum" about it. Local homecare companies charge less than HGA.
DO NOT USE HGA!!!

Refuse to order the CPAP machine prescribed by doctor. They only want to order the older model and maximize their profits. Do yourself a favor and pick a different DME company.

Great initial experience when I picked up my equipment. However, four months later in May when the equipment stopped working it and returned for warranty work things changed. Over the last four months I have been told several times that the equipment would be returned by the end of the week or that it would be ready soon. Now they will not return calls. If the shoe was on the other foot they would have already destroyed the person credit. Just would like my money back or the machine.

They dont't answer their phone, an answering service does. You leave a message, then no return call. When I visited their office the receptionist never answered the phone. She barely had time to wait on me / too busy checking her cell and texting!

There is a reason this place has terrible reviews. Such horrible organization. When I first walked in and gave my name the guy said “well you can sit down because they are helping the people ahead of you.” Well of course they are lol. But come to find out, they made an in-house mistake and messed up my appointment time. While I sat in the waiting room with my baby, they took two walk-ins and another appointment that was AFTER mine ahead of me and they treated me as if I were an inconvenience even though it was THEIR mistake. I wish they would honor patients time when THEY made the mistake. While sitting there I also witnessed other people having difficulty. I highly recommend avoiding this place if you can. The only thing good about it was that the tech Stephanie was very nice.

In 2019 after my annual pulmonary check up I was given a prescription to replace my CPAP machine due to the age of my previous one. I contacted them and they took my info and said it would be shipped out. After a month of not receiving it, I called and they said it was all boxed up and ready to ship. After another month I stopped by their person at the pulmonary group’s office. She called the people who I had spoken to before and confirmed my insurance and all my payments were current thinking I had missed something. She verified with them that everything was all in order and it would be shipped. After six weeks I gave up and just kept the old one since it worked.

This year, 2020, I got the prescription again and tried two other CPAP places that had been recommended by friends. Both had closed and were referring folks to HGA Home Medical.

So I called them again. There was no answer and I got routed to voice mail. I left a message. The next day I got a call from a lady in the hospital who said she wasn’t associated with them in any way aside from being part of the Huntsville Hospital system. I called the number she gave me, which was the pulmonary office where I have my annual checkups. I gamey name and number and the person who answers the phone said he would hand carry it over to them. I sent an email to the HH general info group off their website explaining the misdirection in the voice mail system. After a month of not hearing back I tried calling back and got the same voice mail system and got routed to the same inbox. I left a message and the same lady called back with the same message. So I gave up and went to McAbee two blocks down the street and got my new machine and equipment, training and contact support info in less than three days.

I am not sure if HGA Home Medical Equipment, LLC is some kind of insurance fraud front or bunko scheme or what, but I have never had to beg anyone that hard to take my money. AT&T customer service is more responsive than HGA Home Medical Equipment.
