Pub 217

I never do reviews but I have to on this place. For a pub aspect this has some awesome food, great service from the bartender to waitress. My family and I have found our new date night place to eat at.

Downtown Cedar Rapids -UPDATED 6/22/24—not nearly as impressed on a Saturday night. They were severely understaffed, dirty tables the new patrons came pushed the prior customers stuff aside the waited forever to catch a servers attention. Servers were experts at not making eye contact and avoiding your table. Place was packed, too loud to hear across a table. Parking was nightmare, I parked five plus blocks away ( to be fair there were multiple events occurring downtown tonight). I was not impressed tonight….ORIGINAL POST WAS ALL 5’s: Carol found this gem, phenomenal French dip sandwiches. Homemade chips are great. Convenient location downtown, on street parking (meter maid seemed pretty busy so don’t forget to buy your parking), neat place we’ll be back. Food was 5+ stars, service just as good, atmosphere prolly pretty great at night.

Every time I am here, I always have a great experience. The food and staff are always next level, as well as the cleanliness and excellent music choice. Next time, I will post a review with my food, I was so excited I forgot a picture of it. I had the grilled chicken sandwich with a gluten-free bun and fris.
If you're in the area, give them a try!

I'll admit it, after Googling several downtown restaurants to eat before a show, I couldn't remember which one we agreed on. My wife rolled her eyes as we walked in and said, well it better be good.

Our waitress Nikki assured us we had made a great choice. She was correct. The Spin & Dip Chick sandwich was delicious and portions were extremely generous Looking forward to our next visit.

Definitely recommend for a casual dining experience with very reasonable prices! There is nothing casual about the food though! We ordered the Spin Dip appetizer, cocktails, beer, and entrées. Everything far exceeded our expectations. Service was exceptional as well, fast and friendly. Great atmosphere!

Superb. Delicious wings, great beer selection, and extremely friendly and helpful bartenders. The whole menu looks great too, including large salads, better than a traditional bar/pub. If I lived here I’d be frequenting this establishment.

Great food! Awesome atmosphere. Service was not what I expect- took our order, dropped off drinks, then dropped off food and never returned. My husband had to go to the bar to get the check lomg after we had finished, but maybe it was just a bad night or a new server.

Always satisfied with this place. Have ate here the most in the past few years in Cedar Rapids. Amazing quality food for a good price. Great selection of tap beers. Use to work at the Double Tree and send everyone here during the day for lunch and never had any complaints. At night the music goes up. You can get food until 1AM.
The burgers here are quality beef. Girlfriend and I usually split a burger and appetizer then still have some leftovers for later.

Absolutely wonderful! Food was amazing and service couldn’t have been better! I highly recommend spin dip!

I cant say enough! Brennan(I hope I spelled that right) was fantastic. I was driving though Iowa with a friend and picked this place off of Google maps. Thankfully!! The food excellent. Best burger I've had in a very long time and I work in restaurants. And Kip in the Kilt (customer) we'll be back same time next year for beer fest. And find us at Pub 217! Best thing in Iowa!!

A friend And I ate lunch at Pub217 (Saturday January 12th, 2019) for the first time. We walked in 11:30 on a snowy morning and the place was empty, except for the four guys having drinks at the bar. I wanted to have drinks too; Looked like fun but we were not there to have beers we were there to eat. And eat we did!

We started with "Fried Pickle Spears" /Ranch dressing on the side -delicious. Not that fried spears are-all gourmet and stuff but these spears were really the best I have ever had. The batter, which I think they make in house had a lot of dill. I appreciated that.

I ordered "The Big Burger" with American Cheese and fries, which they make themselves. I ordered med rare "a little pink". It was not served that way but was very juicy and tasty. The fries were crispy, chewy and well seasoned.

My friend enjoyed the "French Dip" with home made chips and she LOVED the chips! I enjoyed quite a few myself. They are cut waffle style but very thin (see attached picture).

We left Pub217 very satisfied with the flavor of both the food and ambiance. The place really warmed up by 12:30; it was full with a variety of patrons, families, young people old people laughing and having fun.

Total bill with an ice tea and diet mountain due was $34.00 plus tip. We were pretty generous because the service was very good and the wait staff was nice.

Yes, you want to come here. You thought you wanted to go to a couple different places nearby, but if you want good food you're going to want to come here.

I walked in on a slower Monday night and was told to help myself to a seat. The staff were super friendly and accommodating. I ordered their 217 pub burger which was huge! It was cooked as instructed and came with all the toppings you could want plus more. I ended up cutting the burger in half to prevent any embarrassment of trying to devour this thing in front of people. The fries were pretty good. I wish they were better seasoned for how good the burger was. The side dish is equally as important as the entree. Perhaps next time I'll try their home made potato chips.

Their beer selection was really good. They have a few large coolers of canned beer and a decent selection of on tap beer as well as hard liquor. I would highly recommend coming here for a good bite to eat and a drink. The place also had plenty of TV's playing multiple channels of the current sports games if that's up your alley.

Absolutely delicious! I got the shy-town hot dog with goat cheese replacing the tomatoes (it's huge! Look at the picture!). Very pleasantly surprised with the result! Great atmosphere and an attentive waitress, a little bit of a wait for the food, but well worth it!

Service was absolutely amazing. Got some great food, highly recommend the Hot and Creamy burger.

Good food, good service, good atmosphere. Ate there on a Sunday evening when little else was open and it was extremely busy due to a concert at the Paramount. Luckily got a table right away and while they were swamped we were served in a timely manner. I'll definitely consider returning the next time I'm at the Paramount.

This is my favorite bar in Cedar Rapids. The Hot N' Creamy burger is ridiculously good and it's hard to beat $3 Guinness on tap. Pub 217 became my go to spot for a tasty dinner and a cold drink.

The location is great too if you're staying at the Doubletree.

Visited at 10:30pm on a Monday and was surprised they served food until 1am. Had wings and the lettuce wraps. Both were awesome. Beer selection was great and priced crazy good. Bartender was really nice and worked the entire place solely. I'll definitely definitely be back!

7/31- Ordered the lettuce wraps, again. Bruschetta salad with steak was awesome along with the flight club sandwich.

217 never fails. It's so good we make excuses for CID airport pickups to go there.

Awesome pub, awesome food, awesome experience! The shrimp tacos and french dip were fantastic! So were the pretzel bites, which I didn't get a picture of because we ate them too fast!
