Just amazing. Everything we ordered was way beyond our expectations. This is better than Michelin star restaurants I’ve eaten at. I got the pork and every bite was fresh and flavorful. Portion was perfect. We got the zucchini appetizer which was delicious. The chocolate soufflé was so creamy and sweet.

The servers are all so friendly and knowledgeable about the details of the food and made us feel at home.

It’s hard to say enough about how wonderful our experience was here.

Food is wonderful, front of house and waiter are friendly while not taking too much of your time. Menu and daily changes were explained thoroughly and concisely. If they have Parisian gnocchi when you visit, make sure to have it!

The best thing about this place is the staff! They are so friendly and helpful. A real testament to the restaurant. I would go back just for that.

The atmosphere inside is really nice as well, it feels very upscale and modern.

The food is really good or maybe even great, but I don't think it was amazing. We had the beef tartare, charcuterie board, and parisian gnocchi and I was happy with all of it, but I did think it was a little bland.

On the other hand, the cocktails were amazing!

Update: 3 months later I went back and the food was fantastic! I've updated my review to five stars and will definitely be back.

We sat at the tabletop and it was a great experience. Being able to watch and ask questions to the chefs was an experience you don't get everywhere.
The food was excellent. It's not your run of the mill everyone has it, it is unique , well thought out and very tasty.
I would highly recommend the charcuterie as they cure their own meats and partner with a local dairy for the cheeses. Also, if you fancy oysters (yes, even in Iowa). They bring them in 2x a week, which keeps them fresh and tasty.
The staff is friendly and attentive.

We hadn't been back for well over a year however when I am in Cedar Rapids this is a MUST STOP for my wife and I. Never have had a bad experience or meal here. Rather you are local like we once were or just in town for a night, eat here! You'll thank me. Fresh Ingredients, Friendly Staff, Great vibe/Atmosphere, and awesome craft cocktails. I am never let down by Cobble Hill. Keep up the good work and hope to visit again in the future.

We had a group of 8 down for a business trip and randomly pick here from the rating It had and very glad we did. The atmosphere was very neat and trendy with open kitchen right by our table to give us a cool experience. The staff was great, friendly and helpful with our questions and always made sure our drinks were topped up. The food was fantastic and very tasty and same with the cocktails and wine. I would 100% go back when we are in town again. Thanks team.

Our first experience at Cobble Hill, our server Jackson was exquisite. He seemed to genuinely enjoy delivering bountiful information regarding the menu items, and suggested a wonderful pairing of drinks to accompany our dinner.
The paired drinks enhanced the already fantastic meal, i have never experienced such a perfect pairing.
We selected a charcuterie board (half order) and nibbled happily at a quaint selection of fine cheeses, meats, and bread.
To follow it up with a trio of cookies for dessert, with lovely decaf coffee, was lovely.
My partner and I enjoyed the atmosphere, the quite attentive service, and most of all the food. Portion sizes were sufficient that by the end we were comfortably full and quite pleased.
The best pork we have ever had, the best drink pairings, and the best dining experience in Cedar Rapids thus far :)

GREAT! One of the most consistent restaurants in the whole Midwest. My family and I have been multiple times and each time is better than the last. The rotating seasonal menu makes it exciting to come back again and again. With the front of house being so prompt and attentive and everyone in the back of house being extremely diligent. You can tell that all the cooks and chefs have a sense of pride and ownership for each dish. The menu isn't overwhelming large, but still offers something for everyone. The wine menu is vast and precise at the same time. The souffle with hazelnut cream might've been the star of the show, it was well worth the couple minutes of prep to make it. I couldn't recommend this place enough.

The food was incredibly flavorful and fresh- I highly recommend the gnocchi and the fennel salad. The scallops could have had more flavor and the carrot pancake was a bit gummy, but besides that, every dish was outstanding. The rum cake was delightful. I do wish one dessert option didn’t have basil/rosemary/thyme.

Our server was funny and kind and the patio was delightful for summer dining. I highly recommend to go here if you’re in Iowa and looking for something fancier!

One of my best friends and fellow chefs, decided to eat dinner here on Saturday the 21st. It was a wonderful experience, to have farm-to-table offerings, that remained relatively true to their roots. Overall, we thought the meal was quite balanced, and seasonal. I was even offered sorbet that was not on the traditional sorbet menu, because of dairy restrictions. The wine that was suggested to my friend, was outstanding and paired wonderfully, from the oysters to the quail. I was also given a side of sweet potato coconut curry, with an intense flavor of cumin, that paired well with the porchetta dish. I would put this restaurant at the top of my list of places to experience in Iowa.

Eating at Cobble Hill was the best customer experience that I've had at a restaurant. For starters, it was my wife and I's three-year anniversary, and they left us a sweet note on our table before we even sat down!

All of the food and drinks were fantastic. The sourdough starter had a beautiful char to it, and all of the seasonal cocktails were spot on (yes, we tried nearly all of them).

For our entrees, I got the Niman Ranch Flat Iron Steak and my wife got the Grimm Family Farm Chicken. The steak was perfectly seasoned and I could have eaten a dozen of the potato fritters. I didn't eat much of my wife's but she was extremely satisfied and said the skin on the chicken really made the dish stand out.

For dessert, we got the Cobble Hill Twix and Praline Macarons (they rotate the macaron flavors). Both were fantastic, but a huge shout-out to whoever achieved the perfect chewy texture on those macarons.

Last but not least, I want to thank Nate, our server, who had more attention to detail than any server I've had in the past. After each course, our table was wiped down and new silverware was provided, he knew drink combinations with every food item, and was just a joy to have around. Thank you all for a wonderful night!

This place does not miss. Ever. I visit at least every year and I can still remember how the dishes tasted from my first visit. There was a potato soup with fresh horseradish that really stuck with me. My friends and I like to visit and order something from each section of the menu and share it all. The last time I visited was this spring for my birthday and I loved the pork chop that I got with the elote polenta.

Cobble Hill

Restaurant Layout/Vibe Rating -

The restaurant from the outside gives the feeling of small and quaint. Once in, it’s much more extensive than anticipated. Low lighting and perfect for a special occasion (in our case, our 18th wedding anniversary and my wife’s birthday)

I loved the entire layout and feel, from the front brick walls to the open kitchen in the back, where you could watch food prep underway.

Customer Service Rating -

Amazing! Steven or Stephen (not sure how he spells it) was fantastic! We were checked in with quickly, all staff was very knowledgeable, and checked in with us many times.

Our table was wiped down after our appetizer, main dish, and we always had room. Top-notch for sure, and I can’t wait to have our next special occasion here.

Food Rating -

Oh my. We did a tuna and muscle appetizer. I can’t say enough about the food. We ordered the flat iron steak and halibut as our main dish. Everything was amazingly fresh, grade +++, and prepared to perfection.

Overall our visit was amazing and made a special milestone very memorable.

Thanks to all who served us at Cobble Hill, and especially Steven, our server :)!

This restaurant is arguably the best in the corridor. Other great restaurants in the area present great food that I could probably make at home. Cobble Hill presents fresh ideas using locally sourced, in-season ingredients where possible in ways I couldn't have come up with myself. It's also one of the few restaurants we consistently commit to ordering dessert. Their staff are knowledgeable, their cocktails are magnificent, and the wine list is unique. Their seafood is fresh and this is about the only place in Iowa I trust for raw oysters. If you were ever tempted to visit and haven't, move this restaurant to the top of your list.

We had a lovely time meeting a friend for dinner here on recommendation! You can tell there’s a lot of care and pride that goes into the food and service here. Servers and staff are very knowledgeable about the menu and educate you on their farm to table menu and where they source all their food. We loved the intimate atmosphere and all the mismatched furniture and place settings. Definitely a menu for a more open palette as the selection is small and flavor pairings are very unique. I felt like the experience alone was worth the visit but would also like to return to try other items on the menu. They also took a lot of care with my partners nut allergy and made sure to adjust where needed to make sure we all felt good about what we were eating.

This is the best restaurant in the city. The food is consistently executed at a high level. The bar also produces interesting and well done drinks. Food, drinks, service, atmosphere all excellent.

I loved this place. I would definitely recommend. My daughter has never had oysters and this was the best way to start. Best experience ever!

Absolutely amazing food, staff and wine/cocktail list. Came here for my birthday and this place has blown every other place in Iowa out of the water. They explain the drinks and wine to a another level. The care to detail when it comes to dishes truly shines through with each bite. This is truly a food experience.

We drove an hour, and it was 100% worth it! Fantastic starters, mains, dessert and drinks. Easily the best fine dining in Iowa. The atmosphere was, at first, very romantic- candlelit and serene, until a small group with a baby were sat. We were very disappointed and surprised that Cobble Hill would consider allowing young children when the ambiance is clearly meant to be an intimate, upscale dining experience.

We detoured off I80 to eat here and intended to get carry out and eat in the car because we're traveling with a dog.

The hostess was beyond accommodating and the staff quickly set a table for us out on the patio. They even brought Fenris a bowl of water. I can't thank them enough, because the food, drinks and our entire experience here was fantastic.

Service was exceptional, from the hostess, to the bartender, to the waiter. The food was absolutely amazing and presentation did not disappoint.

Take the time to visit and enjoy this place. You won't be disappointed!
