Madison County Gun Permit Office

The application process is straightforward. The approval process was blazingly fast. When I went to pick it up there was not a line at all and was in and out within 2 minutes. Employees were also very friendly. Couldn't have asked for a better experience

Easy to get to and find...follow the pistol permit signs. Quick service. Safe parking. It's separate from the Jail. Lots of surveillance and employees milling around.

Literally walked in and then walked out within 3 minutes with my pistol permit. Apply online ahead of time and you'll be golden.

The people were nice but its the same parking lot as the prison so lock your car.

Were closed when I got there before 4.

I tried to do pistol permit online, was not letting me open new permit, long story short, drove to office to get paper copy, filled out and returned. I was notified approval on Jan.10th 2023. I went in yesterday (Jan. 24th) to pick up. I took a copy of military DD214 to show them. It stated online you could get your permit free if veteran. Four ladies in the office, one attempted to help me. She let me know in no uncertain terms that I should have notified them ahead of time about my military status. Why, I'm not sure and she didn't bother to explain. Payment would be cash or check. I didn't get a chance to explain what happen during my filing process. Needless to say, I barely had enough cash on me. Anyway, the unfriendly and "your bothering me attitude" atmosphere with which these ladies conducted themselves is shameful. These are the people representing the Huntsville/Madison county Sheriff department. Either bad day for all or upset that conceal carry doesn't make them anymore money. I chose the latter. BTW, sorry I bothered you ladies by conducting business at your office. Please if your that unhappy at work, do yourself a favor and get a job you like. I served in the United States Military so you could treat me this way. Sorry, but no stars today, you didn't even rate in my book. Have a great day.

Well apparently on Friday they close before 2pm. Always good to see tax dollars at work!
