Beautiful destination. Pickle Gulch is well maintained, and the staff was very friendly and knowledgeable. Loved the large camp site (#6), which camped over 15 people. The photo was from a very short hike I took from the campsite. Tent pads and common areas were top-notch.

My son's Trail Life Troop met here for a weekend camping trip and it was a fantastic spot!

Be aware: zero cell coverage for most of us! (I have Verizon)

Down along the river there were a ton of forts the boys enjoyed. There was so much room to explore and play.

A fun geocache on the property too!

Bathrooms were nice and clean, I saw them being cleaned while we were there.

We hiked up the road to the playground and to enjoy the view.

We even had a moose pass by!

A great space overall.

The campsites closer to the entrance were pretty typical. We went during Labor Day weekend so lots of empty reserved spots. However there was a trail for off road vehicles behind the campsites that led to significantly better ones. Perfect little spots w campsites and soft areas for some traditional tent camping. As a beginner I’m off road trails I’d recommended a once over your vehicle before you attempt to get up there just to prepare yourself for a proper route. But we’ll worth it once your clear.

We tried out pickle gulch during the first week of May. It was a difficult, yet fun trail. However, we were not able to continue past a certain point, due to there being some large snow drifts (still) and three FJ cruisers stuck in said snow drifts. Towards the beginning of the trail, we had a little difficulty getting up the first really steep hill via the bypass. In my opinion, the bypass is just as hard as the actual trail, if not harder. We ended up getting stuck and had to winch ourselves out. We did it in a '17 JKU sport with 31" tires and no lift. We would love to try it again when all of the snow has melted!

Tons of fun. There's a camp ground along with an offroad trail at the end. This trail is nothing to fret with as it does offer some challenge to the beginners.

Have been taking day trips or weekend camping trips up here for the past few weeks and we love it here. There are beautiful views of the mountains and some of the camping spots are nice and secluded.
We did it in a 4Runner and would not recommend a car if you’re trying to go past the campground section, especially for the dispersed camping spots.
Overall love this place and it’s only 1 hour from Denver!

Very fun trail system. Watch out for winter. The snow and ice will create issues.

I did this in a stock Nissan Xterra with 30” tires. You will not make this trip in a car.

We visited for a wedding. There is a common area near the campgrounds which has a play structure and picnic tables. That's a really nice addition. The campgrounds are well maintained and attractive as well. There are vault toilets and parking right by the site, so it's a good place for a family even if you're not used to really roughing it.

Clean and well maintained group campground. We have a hard side camper and the property management folks said it was okay if we parked our camper in the parking lot. Awesome time with our church group. Easy to get to off of Peak to Speak highway.

Keep going veering right past pickly gulch camp ground WHERE THERE'S NO SHOOTING and head up that unimproved road a ways until come to a sharp left cut back and take a look to the right and it's a big clearing with an shooting range hand cleared up to the right of that dirt clearing. I've camped and shot up there multiple times for a night or two. Some ATV and foot traffic as well as other vehicles just exploring but they hear the gunfire and stay clear or stop and chat. You're within your rights to be there so don't let anyone try and scare ya off.
