Hickory Hideaway

Place is awesome. We went during the off season expecting nice weather, but it snowed and got cold on our way there. We still had a blast. My youngest daughter enjoyed the whirlpool and I got the stress free weekend I was looking for. George was super helpful and willing to help with any issues. We will be back.

This place was so amazing. Clearly a place where families have been coming for two generations. Everyone was incredibly kind and generous.

We stayed here over Mother's Day weekend for a little getaway. Absolutely loved everything about it from reservation to check out. George and Sherry have created wonderful experience. The luxury cabin was clean, comfortable and had everything you could think of. It was perfectly located with short drives to Savanna, Galena and Monroe. We will highly recommend it to anyone and can't wait to get back.

I planned a family reunion at Hickory Hideaway and it couldn't have been more perfect. The cabins were clean and comfy, the grounds were well kept and shaded. The temperatures were in the 90's but with all the trees there was a great breeze and we were able to spend all our time outdoors. George and Sherry are an amazing host and hostess. We never ran out of anything and they always seemed to be their when we had a question.
There are a few minor details I would recommend changing. The steps into the cabins are a bit high. There isn't much light in and around the pavilion. We actually took a lamp out from one of the cabins. And a pool would be a great addition to your already wonderful accommodations.
The icing on our cake was, as we were all pulling out, George and Sherry came out and said goodbye and thanked us for coming.
Now you don't get that at a chain.

Fantastic getaway! My boyfriend and I were looking for a relaxing weekend away from the city and we got exactly that. The rustic whirlpool cabin was much bigger than anticipated and very charming. It offered a cozy fireplace, relaxing whirlpool tub & a great view of the rolling hills. George was very helpful and gave us a ton of recommendations for things to do. They also have a wonderful collection of VHS tapes and DVDs for guests to borrow while visiting, which we loved. We went during a cold/rainy weekend and it was still very enjoyable. We will definitely be back!

I must also add, in regards to the negative comment below, the hosts were incredibly friendly, accommodating and were always quick to answer my questions/concerns before visiting. Also, one of our friendly neighbors for the weekend was a dog (or a rather large puppy). It's a shame one would be quick to judge such a great place before giving it a try.

This place is absolutely perfect if your looking for a quiet getaway. Me and my boyfriend went and we will be coming back. Even though most of the cabins tgat were next to us were occupied, we rarely saw another person there. It was like we were the only ones there the whole weekend. The cabins were clean and stayed nice and warm. George was an amazing host. If your looking for a hidden gem on the middle of nowhere,this is the place to go :) thank you hickory hideaway!!

Spent 2 at Hickory Hideaway with wife, and dog. Nice and quite place. 2nd night storm came through and lighting hit tree outside our cabin. Large branch fell on cabin. Did a lot of damage. The owners showed very up quickly after I called about the tree. They switched us to adjacent cabin and offered to move our stuff. Next day as we were packing up to leave they again offered to help. So nice place very nice owners. Give them a try.

Very nice friendly owners. They truly care about the people that rent out their cabins. We stayed here twice, both times in the fall for a weekend just to get away from the hustle and bustle. Quiet, secluded area with clean cabins. Looking out the back of our cabin into wide open rolling hills you could see for miles upon miles. If you live within a few hours drive of here I recommend checking in for a weekend with your significant other. There's also a community fire pit that everybody sits around at night, have a few cocktails and just shoot the sh*t. Two thumbs way up.

This place is wonderful in every aspect. From the land, views, people, hosts, cabins, and the atmosphere.... It's a hard place to leave. We have been here multiple times and enjoyed our stay each time. From romantic get away, to family getaway, George and Sherry made you feel like home. (In a good way) We have stayed in the pet friendly cabin with our dog who enjoyed the spacious cut fields to run around in, to friendly neighbors. Would recommend this place to anyone who is looking for a pet friendly place to visit, sleep, or lounge. Also, there are cabins that are off limits to animals if that's what you are looking for. Another great weekend as always!

My husband and I loved the coziness of the cabin. The jacuzzi tub was definitely a plus for us to relax and trust me it was well needed. This weekend getaway was just what the doctor ordered. George and Sherry are wonderful people and made our stay completely worthwhile. Thanks for all of the hospitality.

I booked a room over the phone they answered first call. The man on the phone and the keeper of the place I assume was super nice explained everything very well answered every question I had. When we arrived to check in we asked about the grilling situation and he actually offered us charcoal for free. Very cute cozy cabins everything works in the room nice hot showers and nice jacuzzi tub also. Bed was also very comfortable highly recommended !!!!

My husband and I (and kids) absolutely love this hidden gem. It is our go-to when we want to simply get away and wind down from the hustle and bustle of the city. Our last stay was before Covid but this place is great and so are the lovely owners!

A girlfriend and I needed a getaway night and the cabin was the perfect escape. Had dinner in Savanna and sat on the back deck, drank wine and caught up on girl talk. An ideal little spot. The cabin had 2 beds and every amenity we could think of including a wine opener:)

Wonderful cabins. Was surrounded by nature's grace and very peaceful. Friendly staff was at the office and ready to help in any way they can. Highly recommended and my wife and i will definitely be back

It was a hidden Gem and loved the owners...cabin was awesome, clean and very cozy for a snowy weekend! We will be back again Great place to bring your cross country ski's....

We started coming out to Hickory Hideaway in 2013 and have been back every summer!!! The cabins are awesome and our kids and dog love the wide open spaces. A great getaway from the grind of the city. Grilling out and s'mores by the bonfires are the best . Pro-tip: Don't tell the kids about the wifi...

This place is amazing and I highly recommend it! It's clean, cozy, and sort of secluded. We had a very fun time and we will definitely be back! Right down the road is an amazing little bar and grill called the Crooked Roof that I also highly recommend. It's the perfect place to get away for the weekend.

Absolutely loved our stay here! Very private and beautiful location. Would definitely recommend and would love to return in the future.

Great place to stay for a weekend getaway! Wish there was more places like this in Illinois! Luxury cabin actually had more cooking/eating supplies than I imagined, helps if you're a good grill cook.

Stayed here this past weekend for the first time. A very peaceful and quiet place. The cabin was very clean and the owners were extremely friendly. Would definitely come back.
