Getaway Motor Cafe

We stopped here on a Sunday morning right when they opened at 8am - we seemed to be the first customers of the day and by the time we left 30 minutes later the place was humming with people.

We got coffee and some bakery items. The drip coffee was excellent and priced well. The quiche and the hand pie were both really good as well.

They also offer outdoor seating which looked nice for warmer weather days. We will be adding this to our Sunday coffee stops.

Quiet coffee shop with a very tasty selection of drinks. I ordered the pumpkin harvester latte which was made to perfection. Pumpkin lattes are so very rarely done well, and this one was fantastic. I tasted my friends drinks, all which were good too (spiced matcha, golden hour, ginger cardamom latte, and nose warmer).

Even on a brutally frigid Minnesota January this place was packed with families, couples and individuals soaking up the warm vibes.
The minimalistic decor strikes a good balance between being cozy and trendy.

They have a good selection of specialty drinks, pastries, and breakfast food. I went for a plain latte; it had a slightly bitter espresso with low acidity, but it was well-made. Despite the busy atmosphere, the service was friendly and prompt. It was fun to see regulars striking up conversation with the baristas.

They also have an Airbnb seemingly above the cafe? Overall, a great spot, and I look forward to trying it again in warmer weather.

Unmatched atmosphere and quality of products. The menu is so well put together. The nose warmer is a fantastic hot coffee, but the Carver crush is the best drink they offer! We frequent Getaway as often as we can, sometimes twice a day.

Nice place, ambience is very good, inside seating space is less, but place is clean and restrooms are clean, staff is very good and cooperative, enough parking space, coffee flavors are good !!

Excellent! I went there just as they opened at 8 on a Sunday morning. Despite being early, there were still four other people in line which told me it must be good. It didn't disappoint, the coffee was delicious! I did not try their pastries, but they all looked good so I'll have to next time. Highly recommend! Polite staff, cozy environment.

The Getaway Motor Cafe is perfect for the historic downtown Carver. It was in desperate need of a coffee shop. The atmosphere is very welcoming and inviting to sit down, drink your beverage, and enjoy an amazing pastry. The donuts, rolls, and pastries are wonderful. I even went back for a second. In the evenings, they convert into a bar and, in the summertime, they will have a patio out back to sit and enjoy a drink. The cafe will be a wonderful addition to the historic Carver area, and you should check it out.

We went during a Brick Oven Bus event on a Friday evening and got pizza and a few drinks. Our toddler loved seeing the bus and the pizza was delicious. We loved the relaxed, yet lively atmosphere of Getaway Motor Cafe. The drinks were great. I loved that they had several NA options as I'm currently pregnant. My partner loved the spicy margarita and espresso martini. Service was friendly and personable. We'll definitely be back soon.

My wife and I love going here for coffee and baked goods. The small city of Carver is underrated in my opinion. The historic downtown area has a very cozy vibe nestled along the Minnesota River. The Getaway Motor Cafe is a wonderful addition to the downtown area - located within a thoughtfully renovated building that is on the historical registry. The interior design of the cafe is very tasteful and inviting. The staff are always very friendly. We met the owners once and really enjoyed our conversation with them. We have not been here in the evening yet, but I’ve heard they have live outdoor music and food trucks in the summer, which sounds fun to check out. There’s also an Airbnb upstairs if you want to get away for a while.

Amazing find in historic “downtown” Carver! Delicious craft cocktails including flights!

Experience:
I've come to Getaway several times since they have opened and have enjoyed getting to know the staff and regulars. I cannot think of a place that has this level of detail in coffee, cocktails, beer, tea, and everything they offer. Everything is so carefully considered - a true gem of a place. I've had a few of the IPA's on tap and they are wonderful. The old fashioned is well balanced with a little Getaway touch on top, and the drip coffee & lattes are tasty. They bring in donuts on Saturdays that are fluffy and delicious - so addicting. I can't wait to see this place in the summer with all the motorcycles and autos it will attract. Sure to be a destination for many!

Space:
The bathroom is spacious and has a changing table. They have a small kids bench in front of the window with books. It’s a smaller building so if it’s busy it can be a bit crammed, but once the patio is built and summer is here that will help a lot. If you are going to work here, the WiFi is fast and reliable. Highly recommend visiting.

This is easily the best coffee shop in the area! They have quality, great tasting drinks and pastries and the environment is warm and inviting. The owners are the sweetest and the baristas are too. It’s a great spot for us locals and worth the trip if you’re a bit further away.

Fantastic coffee shop just outside of the Twin Cities, but not too far out! Came here with some good friends with our cars and were treated to great coffee and service, plus a sneak peak of the super cool AirBnB rental on the top floor. Will be coming here often when I take a drive down SW of the metro! Looking forward to the outdoor additions.

Stunning Coffee/Cocktail spot right outside of the twin cities! Best drip coffee experience, clean cozy vibes. Greeted by the friendliest baristas. They also serve Cardigan Donuts on certain days. This will easily be one of your favorite go to spots!

Quality coffee is important to me, and the pumpkin lattes we ordered were some of the best I've ever had. Excellent.
The location of the shop could not be more perfect! You can take your food & coffee and go for a walk by the river. Great service, great coffee, beautiful building in the heart of downtown Carver. I recommend checking them out!

ADORABLE coffee shop right in the heart of downtown Carver! Super cute inside and excellent coffee and tea. Ran into the owners while we were there and they were some of the friendliest people, who you can tell take pride in their business. Highly recommend you check it out!

Little gem of a coffee shop right downtown Carver. Smiling, friendly baristas, great coffee, with a rotating custom coffee menu. We tried the “Nosewarmer”. It was delicious. Donuts, pastries and coffee cake are all made locally and are fresh & delectable.

Great little spot. Delicious coffee and everyone is so friendly there. So happy these guys finally opened up. Not pictured was their drip coffee I got when going back the 2nd time. What a smooth but strong cup of coffee! Mucho impressed. We will be back again and again!!

Honestly can't believe it took me as long as it did to come here! Food/drinks are delicious, staff was so welcoming, and the place itself was so well decorated! Can't wait to come back!
