Monroe's Original Hot Dog

This place is so consistent. I visit once a year while I'm in town visiting and it's exactly what I've been craving. Smoking hot chili dogs and ice cold root beer. Fast, friendly service.

My sister and I went on their "last day" of the season, we both had a flyer that said we wad guaranteed to win something, be it food or T-shirt. They had a deck of cards, and they spread it out into a fan shape and told us to pick one. We both got 1 pint of chilli absolutely free. I hope this is something they do every year. Their food is amazing. Root beer comes in tall glasses with handle on them that's stored in a freezer. You get cold pop without worrying that ice is going to water it down. You pull into a bay and sit in your car to eat. They have trays that attach to driver side window. Definitely worth going. Can't wait for them to open back up come spring.

This place never let's down. Love their Chilli dogs! Have moved out of town and when we head back to monroe we have to stop on occasion. If you haven't tried, you must. Best root beer and hot dogs ever.

I was born and raised in monroe...I now travel 80 miles to get these hot dogs...they are the best!!!!

Was brought here as a kid by my parents and now I bring my kid here. This place is iconic. Chili dogs are the best around. Ice cold root beer. Pull up window tray service. Great nostalgic vibes, great food. Great service. Great great great!!

This is a simple drive in type place and the servers take your orders from your car. Food is served on a tray that hangs off your window.. This is a Monroe staple and the hot dogs are always fantastic. Although there are some similarities, do not confuse this for a coney dog. These have more of a zesty/tomato meat sauce and I am pretty sure the hot dogs are steamed as well as the bun. Anyways. . They are delicious. The draft root beer is a must too.

The chili dogs here are some of the best I've ever eaten. Good and fast service and decently priced.

Great unique dogs. The chili sauce is a sauce not a chili in my opinion. Its a sweet sauce but complements the dog in its very own monroe hotdog way. Super fast service with a friendly smile. Just a hidden Monroe gem.

Saw all the great reviews about this place and had to stop while heading down South a few weeks ago.
I really loved the entire experience of this old-style drive-in!
We arrived at noon on Friday, and got waited on within 2 mins of pulling in.
Ordered 5 coney dogs, 1 large and 2 regular root beers, and bag of chips.
Total was only $16!
Taste of the coneys and "home made" root beer did NOT disappoint! Service was very fast, and the servers very friendly!
I would definitely recommend this place for a unique and fun time. The kids will get a kick out of the way they hang the food trays on the car window, if they've never experienced that before!

My favorite Chili dog of all time, I grew up on it! Been going here my whole life and never had 1 bad experience. The old fashioned eat in your car drive in atmosphere is great. Amazing homemade root beer served in a icey mug!

unique hot dog stand for a travel back in time.

The place feels like it was out of the 60s. Drive through hot dog stand with bright orange shed. When you pull in, the waitress came takes your order then brings a tray that sits in your window. It is so super neat.

The root beer here is a must. First of all the taste is so much better than regular root beer. Then it is served in a frozen mug... icy cold and goes so well with hot dog.

The hot dog here is the star. The buns are steamed not toasted so it is tender. Ask for all the way, it comes with onion ketchup, mustard and chili. The perfect mixture for hot dog with tangy, spicy and a hint of sweetness.

We normally go to Bills hot dogs in Ypsilanti but wanted to try something new. Very good and the chili was sweeter with more of a tomato base like "real" chili. The price wasn't bad either. The root beer was good too.
