National Car Rental - Sawyer International Airport (MQT)

The National/Alamo/Enterprise location at MQT Sawyer Regional Airport has very limited hours. Agent told me on phone the they await arrival of last flight. Flights often are late to MQT. Despite assurance and my reservation, they were closed when I arrived. I had to pay $193 to stay overnight + $132 RT taxi (there is no Uber, de facto) and could not get car until opening, 12 noon next day.

If I could rate 0 I would. Got up to counter only to have the man tell me they cancelled all reservations made in the last 3 days. Said I should have received a phone call. I told him I did not receive a call and he said then I should have added my phone number to the reservation. I did have my phone number on it and my reservation was made. Furthermore my reservation was made on Sept 6th and today is the 11th. I was told there are no cars available and given an email of his supervisor. This counter jocky was as useless as a steering wheel on a kite.

Never rent from National again.

This has been the worst rental experience that I have ever had. We were not told that this company doesn't accept visa debit cards which is essentially the same as a credit card until we arrived to claim our reservation. We ended up having to drive out here two seperate times which took about two hours, we were so fed up with the ridiculous regulations & stipulations that National put on their vehicles that we chose to rent from Hertz instead, which was hassel free. I'm shocked that National gets any business at all, they make it very inconvenient for their customers. I will never rent from them & I will be recommending to everyone else I know to avoid them as well!
