I needed a special-headed screw for a custom license plate frame I got for Christmas. I was afraid the big box hardware stores wouldn't have it or that I wouldn't be able to find anyone knowledgeable (or find anyone!) to help me find the right one. So I went to Nicholson's and wasn't disappointed. They actually have a live person at a counter where the fasteners are, and no line on Saturday, and in 5 minutes he had located a screw that would work for what I needed and I was on my way, satisfied. I also picked up a Nicholsons Hardware logo sweatshirt out of my appreciation to "rep" in the community! Got to love the hometown mom and pop hardware store. Please give them YOUR business also so it doesn't go away!

Best family owned hardware store in Rockford. The "go to" place if you own an old home because they'll usually have what the big box stores don't have. Extremely knowledgeable staff!

I'm not a handyman. Not even a little bit. Without exaggeration, my mother-in-law is better at fixing things around the house than I am. When my shower faucet wasn't working, I went to Home Depot. They told me that because the faucet was so old, I'd have to take out the shower, cut the pipes, replace the valve-thingy (I kept calling it the 'guts'), get a whole new faucet, etc. Hundreds and hundreds of dollars.

I decided to give Nicholson's a try. Never been before. Spoke with Rick in the plumbing department. Showed him some pictures. He gave me two parts that cost a grand total of $11, told me exactly what to do, and the job took 15 minutes tops. The shower is now functioning perfectly, I've saved hundreds of dollars and a huge headache... all because of Nicholson's.

From now on, I'll be going to Nicholson's first and I recommend you do as well!

Had a problem with a lawn mower, Trevor from the Lawn and Garden Center picked up the mower, he was nice guy, it was repaired and returned in a week. I have purchased equipment in the past and had equipment worked on as well. They always have done a great job. They have a nice hardware store with many products as well. There are not to many businesses that have great service and good employee's. They been in business for years and the customer service keeps people returning. Thanks for your sales and service.

Needed some keys cut and had my own blanks. Cut both keys without a problem for $3. If you need keys cut cheep. THIS IS THE PLACE TO GO!!!

They are so helpful. Good ole hardware stores are hard to come by. Box stores don't carry the things Nicholson's have.

Always a good experience at Nicholson. Very knowledgeable people working there who usually can answer any questions and give good advice. They often have those hard to find items which most stores do not stock.

If you want it they have it. This is a true example of what a hardware store is supposed to be. The level of service and expertise simply does not exist at any big box store.

Always have enjoyed Nicholson. They have every oddball piece you need that the big box stores won't carry.

I was house sitting and the key did not turn. Went to Nicholson to get a lubricate to try and get the key to turn. So I asked the gentleman would a lubricant work? He did not think it would work. He took a look at my key and noticed an extra ridge on it. He said he could try and make a new key and see if that would work. Well it did. I am so thankful that he took the time to go above and beyond.

The original key was not made at Nicholson. All the keys I have them make for me work.
