Social Urban Bar & Restaurant

WOW!!! Where do I start. We had been here years ago and loved our experience. So, when the opportunity arose to come back with a group of 4 other couples we gladly did so. Once again, we had such a great experience. It's a smaller bar, nestled in downtown Rockford within walking distance of numerous other establishments. It's warm and cozy atmosphere can't help but put you in a relax mood. They got us sat a little before our reservations and we quickly ordered a plethora of small dishes to share. The charcuterie board was a bit expensive... However, it did prove to be worth it based on the variety of delicious items that came with it. We also shared their take on tacos and fee other items that I didn't can't their names. The drinks were fantastic and the presentation was on point. I had a few old fashions and topped it off by ordering a drink that not only was exceptional.... but the manner in which it was made was awe inspiring. Flames and liquid nitrogen smoked up the room.. We had so much fun and were planning our return before we even had finished our time there.

Phenomenal service from Mike and manager Adam. Impeccable atmosphere, a cut above for Rockford, and that's saying a lot. Wonderful drinks and the charcuterie presentation is second to none. Will go back.

Vibe is super chill. Drinks were amazing! Mixologist, Zach, super cool, real friendly and makes amazing drinks.

This is one of the finest establishments I have ever been to as a world traveler. If you can't find a drink you would like, maybe liquids are not a thing for you.

Me and some family and friends came in here after a wedding near by for a final drink to the evening, and it was such a great time! The staff was unbelievably nice and the drinks delicious! The bride and groom still dressed and some of the bridal party even got in for one last round in tux and gown. I was shocked it wasn't more full because it's a total hidden gem after midnight, gorgeous place!

We had such a great time here! Kwesi answered all of our questions and made sure we were very well taken care of. The drinks and charcuterie board we got were delicious. My first time there but will be back.

This place has the best cocktails in the whole city, and their food is awesome! Seating is extremely limited, but worth the wait. This is a classy place made to enjoy your drink and the people you're with.

This is possibly Rockford’s best cocktail bar. Adam and Kwesi are extremely knowledgeable and talented bartenders. I am so glad Social is back open as a lovers of cocktails. They also serve “milk and cookies” at midnight on the weekends.

Good to be back here!! Prices have gone up, to be expected in the post-Covid age. Charcuterie Board is a new offering, Fireball was our fav.

Per conversation w/ our server, it appears that they may not serve their old menu. We were fans of Hot Chicken (Abreo’s has a diff taste) and Pork Belly Tacos.

20% Service Charge may be too high. We live in Bucktown too. Similar establishments in Chicago do not impose this charge.

PS - If you are craving for Hot Chicken & Pork Tacos, I highly recommend Lark, Janesville. Former Social Chef up there (per the Lark staffer). We dined there prior to entering Social last night.

Excellent experience all the way around. The bartenders were friendly and the house cocktails were delicious. A must-stop if you're in Rockford and feeling thirsty.

Great food and specialty drinks. Also fun environment; seating is set up communally fun way to meet new people.

This place is great! The drinks are crafted, not just made. The bartenders are very friendly and the service is great. We had an appetizer, and it was probably the best cheese curds I've ever had. I asked the bartender to make me a drink I found in a book of "antique" recipes (the drink itself was dated 1912), and he whipped it right up for me! We will DEFINITELY be coming back to this lovely place!

Amazing food and drinks. Very personal service - the Chef brings each item to the table to share what is in the dish and where it was sourced. We enjoyed the brussel sprouts appetizer (our mouth is still watering for more) the pork belly tacos and the hanger steak was delicious! Will definitely go back.

Longtime local customer. Came here the first time within the first 3 months after it opened, and it was immediately my favorite bar, and remains so. Great, imaginative food, and so-good craft cocktails. Still getting those Brussels sprouts once in a while, and the arugula salad. Wonderful staff. I go alone a lot, and never feel like I'm less attended to because of it, and I do get that feeling at other places.

Awesome the bartenders are great! They make you feel like you've been there before. The chef is top of the line. The Manager Zach is The coolest. I rock with this establishment. My first time there and i will be back many times. Support from Michigan *Tom*

I travel all over the country for work and have dined at many a restaurants, and this place is easily at the top. The atmosphere is inviting, staff very knowledgeable and approachable and the food is top notch. The cocktail list is on point and if don't know what you want just ask for a high stakes. The bartender will ask you a few questions and surprise you with a drink that won't disappoint!!! If you're in the area make a point to visit Social Urban!!

This cute little spot holds it’s own with any of the trendy little bars out there. Great specialty cocktails, and tasty dishes. We were just passing through and feel very fortunate to have experienced this place. Michelle took great care of us, including my high-maintenance celiac needs. The arugula and egg salad was a real favorite. Everything we had there knocked it out of the park.

Social is my favorite place in Rockford! Their food is INCREDIBLE, local and sustainable, and beyond delicious. Their craft cocktails are creative works of art and scrumptious. The place is clean, cozy and the staff goes above and beyond in courteousness and kindness. I cannot recommend them enough!

Food was great. Party of three, we had the Pork Chop, Lamb Chop special and some Thanksgiving special. Everyone was very happy with their meal. Our server was Sheila B. She was sensational. She was pretty busy, yet made all her tables feel special.
