Rockford Art Museum

There were soooo many activities to do and keep the brain occupied n running not to mention the outside area which is even more a realm of what can I do next lol

A smaller but completely free art gallery. Nice space with some interesting items inside and a friendly staff in the little gift shop at the entry.

I love this art museum! It is well kept, nicely maintained, and they always have interesting pieces in their gallery. Its a cozy museum with two main gallery floors. I recently visited their Art in Bloom exhibit which I thought was fantastic! I would definitely recommend!

The art museum had some new AMAZING artwork. They also had two first solo museum exhibitions called "How the West was Won" by Jonah King and "Memory Access" by Veronica Soria Martinez. Everything was wonderful and exceeded my expectations.

We really enjoyed the museum. We were the only visitors on a Sunday. Because it's not big, we were able to take our time and enjoy each piece of art.

We were thrilled to visit as they required proof of vaccine and mask wearing. We felt very safe visiting, everyone was masked.

New favorite artist? Thornton Dial, his work along with many of his extended family were part of the My Way, African American Art from the Black South.

Thornton’s art is playful and sophisticated while retaining a real outsider feel. This man knew what he was doing.

He clearly passed on his love for the creative process to many of his family members who also had pieces included in the show.

This was out first visit and will make a point to visit every few months.
An outstanding little museum.

Great place for a weekend with kids, reasonable price per person and tons of hands on, fun activities. Our fave was the smoked bubbles, and the inside the bubble activity.

Absolutely love this place! I've been going to the Rockford Art Museum since I was in grade school. The museum offers a great collection, interesting exhibits and a number of events throughout the year. If you're in Rockford and looking for fun place to visit, you have to checkout the Rockford Art Museum.

Very high-quality art museum. Friendly staff and good staging of the art. It wasn't too busy when we were there, so we were able to enjoy the art and take our time. There are some great, colorful pieces. Large selection of Modern and Contemporary. One of my favorites was Triune by Ann Rogula. I will be back!

I love this free museum! I think the curator does a FAB job bringing new, fresh, and frequently changing exhibits to this wonderful facility!!!

This is a very clean and pleasant gallery which had friendly staff. Covid-19 complaint personnel and a welcome air conditioned break from the outdoor activities in the summer heat. We thoroughly enjoyed most of the art, and had fun sharing our displeasure with the rest. Just when we thought we were done, we realized there was a basement with even more art! We didn't find the music too loud or distracting on our visit as others have commented, and even found the selection enjoyable.
Side note: we did not visit the interactive portion of the museum which seemed more appropriate for small children.

I enjoyed walking through the museum at looking at the exhibits. Everything was displayed nicely with plenty of good lighting and interesting information on the artists and pieces

A hidden gem! This museum has a variety of interesting exhibits in a building that offers a number of interesting places for kids and adults alike. Worth the visit!

The Rockford Art Museum might have been closed this Sunday, perhaps because of Covid-19. Yet, I enjoyed an art experience because the grounds hosted many fascinating and even quirky outdoor sculptures. I felt my imagination stimulated just sitting in my car looking at the art and writing my blog. The location on the western shore of the Rock River certainly helped me feel more creative, connected to a common good.

Great place to see local art. Love going there.

Being directly across the hall from the discovery center makes it a very intriguing place to peek at. We hadn't had a chance to stop in yet but we found a chance with a pop up restaurant series they are hosting once a month this spring! We went on Abreos night and really enjoyed ourselves! We will definitely be stopping in to look at the Art and see other feautured entertainment.

Had a great time at the Discovery Center with my granddaughters. They have a membership and enjoy something new each time they visit.

Beautiful museum, nicely shown and grouped. The high school exhibit was just wonderful!
