La Familia Mexican Restaurant and Store

I've eaten Mexican food in 6 different states and this was the best I've ever had, it was even a hit with the kids. Everything was so flavorful and the meat tender and delicious. Definitely gonna have to stop by again when passing through!

We stopped in after passing multiple times while visiting from New Jersey staying at a Bed and breakfast in Butler. Our only regret was that we ate here on our last day in town and not on our first! We would've been here everyday had we known that we would've had the best food since we've gotten here and the best authentic Mexican food we have ever had!! We wish this family run restaurant all the best success and many blessings to the wonderful waitress from Brooklyn!! -Faith and Cliff

You want some good authentic mexican food? Then get it here! They make such good foods that you may just explode from the tasty flavours. (Sorry I spell flavours like that because I play Neopets) Give them a good try for real though!!

If you have ever traveled to Mexico, then you are fully aware that most Mexican restaurants in America cater to Americans. La familia was truly authentic Mexican food. Not a huge chain, it's located in a small, obscure building just down the road from food Lion. Wonderful people there, and really good food. We came right at closing and I asked them if I should get it to go, yet they insisted I sit down and enjoy my meal. I'm so glad we chose this over pablanos, which until now, was my favorite. (Sorry pablanos, now you're my second favorite🤗😉)

Oh my goodness!!! Lunch was amazing!!! Don't be fooled by the look of the outside. It is small and quaint, but the food and the service was fantastic! We were the only ones in the restaurant for a while and that is sad cuz the "other" place was so full, we left to try this place. I had the chicken fajitas, son had choripollo and both were so good.

Went for breakfast, and it didn't disappoint! Huevos chorizo, So good with tasty hot salsa, homemade corn tortillas and fried plantains, my favorite... I wish we had tried it for dinner the night before instead of the other Mexican restaurant! Tip: they take only cash

The food is high quality and authentic. The service is quick. Prices are reasonable/ standard. The place is clean and makes ME feel like family.

I have driven by this place for over 10 years and never had the desire to stop...On 2/21/2023 I was looking for a place to eat...all was closed in this tiny town..I seen they were open and tried it.....WOW. what excellent food they have...I have been missing out all this time..Highly recommend!! We had Gorditas, Burritos and assorted dips for chips...ALL WAS GREAT!!!!

The chili relleno was amazing!!! When I heard the blender going for the sauce being fresh made I had a feeling it was going to be good. Way better than I even expected. It might take a little longer to get your food but well worth the wait! Had 3 days in the area and had to visit 2 in a row. Would have been 3 if we had known about it the first night. We couldn't bring ourselves to go anywhere else, just too good!!!

This was such a sweet treat! We were pleased to see plantains and avocado on the menu. Vegetarian friendly! The burrito was just perfect.

The ladies cooking and serving us were accommodating and incredibly friendly

This place is awesome!! So authentic, so good, and definitely the best Mexican food I’ve had since moving to this area of the country. You would never guess to find such a gem in a small town. Certainly better than any Mexican food in Charlotte, Raleigh, Knoxville, or any of the region’s big cities and rivals my favorite Mexican restaurants in Texas and California. If you’re ever in Mountain City you have to eat here. The homemade guacamole, the indulgent choriqueso, the delicious street tacos with homemade corn tortillas were all fantastic and they even made us an order of fried plantains to go with our dinner order even though it’s on the breakfast menu. I’m excited to come back to this area do more hiking but also to eat at La Familia!

This quaint little place has a homey close-knit feel to it. The atmosphere is perfect! My favorite aspect of my visit however was the food! Its amazing! Fresh ingredients really come out in the flavors. What else is nice? The menu isn't overwhelming; some places have 6 pages of food but you can easily make a decision with too many choices but here's it's a perfect 4 page menu. All in all 5 out of 5 and I will be returning to eat here again.

Not your traditional Mexican restaurant. It is a little slower on the service, but the food was so good I couldn't even complain about the wait would highly recommend it to anyone looking for a new Mexican restaurant.

The food is sooo good. The people are so nice.

Great food and excellent service. Stopped in early, around 10am and was able to have a delicious breakfast burrito with scrambled eggs and fresh garden ingredients. Accommodation from the regular menu was no problem. Very tasty authentic food and friendly staff will bring me back here repeatedly.

Very good. The "salsa" they brought out with the corn chips was especially unusual, a refried bean dip with the most wonderful smoky flavor. This is a tiny place with an attached Mexican store. The staff are very friendly. A small menu but delicious.

I love this restaurant! I come here every single day when I am visiting because I enjoy the food so much. I love the delicious and traditional Mexican dishes that are served here, it's hard to pick a favorite! Once I am done eating I get to purchase snacks or dessert from the store for when I get home. Please come enjoy the food here!
