My son Robert Luke Beckham has lived at Millcreek for almost 5 years. Everything has been good.
Everyone who lives here and work here are awesome.

I was in this detention center for 1 year I can say I have changed I haven’t went back and it’s been about 5 years.

I worked here as a nurse for about three months. Loved the children and spending time with them. That’s the only thing that kept me there for three months. I stayed making complaints to the DON about numerous of things, one being how the nurses would leave the nursing station with nobody being at the nurses station to care for the children [as I would leave for break then come back no one would be at the nurses station], she didn’t care. The children here are treated horribly (like prisoners) and not actual children or humans. I put in my two week notice because I didn’t like the way things were ran, I was fired one week into my two week notice. Be careful on sending your children here. They don’t care, your child is just a number that brings in money. Sadly it has nothing to do with rehabilitation, just housing to generate money. Do yourself a favor and send your child somewhere else.

Do not send your kids down there. One of the worse places for your kid to go to. All they do is lie. They don't know how to take care of the kids. They hide things that are going on about the kids from the parents. You best watch what you say cause they turn it around for the bad. No mater how good you are and how much you do for your child it isn't good enough. If you buy your kid things and send it with them while they are in there don't expect to get it when they leave. The staff takes kids stuff and says they are putting it up so other kids don't take it and cause fights and they will turn it when the child leave. That's all a lie. Please I'm begging you don't take your child here. This place is a joke

I was a patient at Mill Creek on three separate occasions in my youth. The first time was when I was 9yrs old, the second was when I was 11yrs old, and the third was when I was 15yrs old (I spent 2 years there the last time I was sent.)
Each time was worse than the last, I was physically and emotionally abused on multiple occasions by the staff who either hurt me themselves or had other patients hurt me. On one occasion they locked me in what is referred to as a "control room" and refused to let me out so that I could go to the bathroom, and I was forced to go in the corner of the room, and even after that they still didn't let me out for several hours. When they would hold me down for what were basically tranquilizer shots they would mock me as they lowered my pants to just below my hip/just above my rear to give me the shot. I've been to multiple facilities, both long and short term in the state of Mississippi (as well as one long term in New Orlean,) but this was one of only two that did more harm than good. However, I am now an adult and an doing quite well (no thanks to Mill Creek,) but if you love your child do not send them here as it will "NOT HELP THEM!" I understand the difficult position you are in as a parent trying to raise a child with mental health/behavioral issues, but Mill Creek will not fix those issue, it will only make them worse.

I went here when I was 7. They beat and let other kids hit me and did nothing. Worst place to sent your child if you want to get them help.
