Coldwater Campground

Very nice location, near the hikes. And this one has running water. Lots of bear visits however , even at day time, while people are present, keep the bear box closed when you cook or hang out and be ready to throw your food in while eating! our neighbors had their nice ribs and steak eaten just as they prepared to have dinner, as the big guy appeared out of nowhere and jumped on the table!

Great camp site, friendly hosts. Non aggressive bear daily, give Victor his space and you will be fine 😎.

Pros:This is an amazing campground with two creeks running by on each side and in close proximity to hiking trails. Trees offered shade, but it also made it very cold in early morning or later during the day.

Cons: It can be difficult to pitch a larger tent at many sites because of the strong slopes and dense trees. Site 16 offered loads of space, but was not as nice as the ones next to creeks. I was disappointed that this place was completely booked in June, but many people did not show up and their sites stayed empty. Obviously bears are present and there are no showers or flush toilets. That is the case for all the campgrounds in this area though.

Nice small campground. Camp host super great and friendly and helpful. We reserved sit #9. It is really sloped so we could not stay there in our camper. It is a nice site, but not good for RV Tent camp 👍. Host helped us and we moved to 14. Sites good for RV are 8, 12, 14, 17. The campground is on a hillside. Beautiful spot.

Beautiful, shaded and clean campground. Close to town, the lake and hiking trails. Spotless facilities. And the host (Eric and Tina) were the greatest! Welcoming friendly, the kind of people you just want to have around! Hope to be back soon!!!
(Tip: first loop campsites appeared to be small, ideal for one tent. If you have the opportunity, chose the sites higher up; much larger and shaded, some bordered by the stream passing along side the campground)

The bathrooms were well kept and cleaned each day. They didn't even smell. The hosts sweep and clean up each site in the morning. It was a quiet and gorgeous stay close to a ton of outdoor activities.

Certainly one of the best large campgrounds in the Mammoth Lakes region of the Inyo National Forest. Very well maintained, generally quiet for as large as it is, nice hosts, cheap rates, and close to a bunch of trailheads and lakes. Also just about a five to ten minute drive into town if you need to get something.

Coldwater Campground is one of the best Mammoth Lakes area campgrounds, staying there gives you access without having to get into your vehicle to some incredible hiking opportunities. From a short 2 mile round trip hike to Heart Lake to a full day or more hike to Duck Lake and beyond, hard to go wrong.

First time camping at this camp site.
I'm making this my camp site for future use.
Plenty of camp sites and this has flushable toilets. Camp Site was very clean, fire wood is on site for a price.
The camp host were very friendly and answered my questions with a smile.
It's walking distance to the lake.

Had a great time. Even enjoyed the bear visit. Big sites with clean bathrooms. Close to everything. The only thing that could make it better would be shower in camp.

Very awesome campground, clean facilities, helpful camp Hosts. The camp host goes above and beyond to get the camp running and maintained. They are a great bunch of people.

Love this campground. Beautiful area right by the lake, you can walk to water activities. Just make sure you book online before you lose reception.

One of the nicest campgrounds on manzana creek trail only 3 miles away from the road, yet feels remote and secluded

Had a great experience. Clean bathrooms, great area that is easy to get to other places from. Firewood is 7 dollars from camp hosts.
