Old Shady Rest Campground

Loved this campground! We stayed for 10 days and still did not get to see or visit all the places we wanted to. Amazing Camp Host , Mike and Trudy answered every question with kindness, helped in directing us to some of the best trails, restaurants and more. Clean restrooms, dog friendly, fire pit, picnic table, good size bear box, hiking trails right out your door, shopping near by. We will defiantly be back.

Really nice camp ground! There were plenty of spots when i was there. Lots of tall lovely pine trees. It was pretty cheap too, fire pits and flush toilets. I really enjoyed my stay there! It's also close to town. Just be careful setting up tents, there were a few ant holes around.

One of the best camping places in Mammoth lakes. Well maintained and close to the town. The toilets were clean and had good lighting. Would love to come again next year :)

Great place to camp if you don't like crowds and noise. Very close to town is also a plus.

If you like being in a campground next to tons of other people instead of in the woods on a dirt road and going number 1 and 2 inside with plumbing instead of using the bush and shovel you'll like this place. The thing I like most is it's walking distance to Starbucks and Schatts Bakkery. This is city people camping at it's finest. And definitely the most affordable lodging accommodations in the Mammoth area, bring your own roof.

Very relaxing campground. Serene, quiet, and clean. The sky at night is beautiful and the camp hosts and managers were all nice people and take their posts seriously. Fair warning though, the bears around Mammoth are VERY friendly. We were warned and given strict instructions by the fee collector about “bear-proofing” our campsite. We did take him seriously and did everything he asked, our only mistake was we thought bears would not approach if we were still out and about the campsite. Not the case. PLEASE take the bear regulations seriously and also lock up ALL food after sundown. My friend and I feel awful for contributing to the bear problem, but I’ll redeem myself by putting the word out about the problem. This goes for any camping in Mammoth, and bears are getting very crafty. Please take precautions!

Delightful campground! Close to Mammoth, making it incredibly accessible. Well-maintained with clean bathrooms, flush toilets, and good running water. Plenty of sites, but be sure to reserve well in advance. Good mountain biking, hiking, lakes, and parks nearby.

Typical campsite. Bathrooms are fine and decently clean. Staff is wonderful.

A well kept campground walking to a few restaurants and a new Starbucks. Also adjacent to the town's visitors center and the state rangers district office.
