Stretched out and relatively private feeling even when you're out in the open without any trees around. Camping in a tent was comfortable although the noise of trailers using generators is a little annoying. Site 47 was flat and close to the creek. Camp host was super helpful. Firewood is a little pricey but it always is. Hard to get cheaper local wood ahead of time. But $9 for a small pile with no kindling that only lasts a couple hours is hard to swallow for me. Kind of annoying to drive in and out as the campground is so long. The area is the best though. The lake. The horse rides. The boats. The hikes. The eagles. It's magical

We arrived in the afternoon and our site was easy to find. It was a beautiful campsite backed up to a meadow. Plus, an amazing background of the mountains. It was a short walk to the lake. The sites were spread out far enough that you had privacy.
There was a tent pad that made it easy to anchor the tent. There was also a bear box, fireplace, and picnic table.
Bathrooms had sinks, flushing toilets, and lights. And they were so clean!!!

I would absolutely stay here again.

Nice campground at the end of October. No shade so might be too hot during warmer months. We stayed one night in our RV. Views of the mountains and lake with the fall colors were beautiful. Sites were well spaced. Bathrooms were clean and had flush toilets. We’d stay here again when passing through this part of the country.

I loved this camp ground! We stayed at campsite 6. It was located close to a bathroom which was very clean, and offers a beautiful backdrop in all directions. You are a little close (25yd) to other campers so be respectful about being too loud.

I stayed here in late June, the weather was about 75-80 during the day and about 55 at night. My kids (6yo, 12,yo) enjoyed it. I generally car camp so me and my son stayed in my car and my wife and daughter stayed in the tent. The site is elevated off the road way by about 4ft and has a large area. It has a table, bear box, fire pit and plenty of room for a large tent (we used and 8x8).

At sunset we decided to walk the campground. The campground loops around at the end and was a beautiful walk. My son brought his RC truck and loved driving it over the speed bumps and in the brush. Near the end of the trail you can hear the river flowing off Lake Convict and there is a bridge you can check out that crosses it. Multiple times we saw dear roaming the sites too.

I had limited cell signal at the site so if you have little ones bring other forms of entertainment like toys or DVD players.

During the day we rented a boat and hangout on the lake. We fished and relaxed. If you need food, drinks, wood, fishing gear, or souvenirs there is a shop about a 5 minute walk from the marina that offers all of this. They have a little bit of everything and really have some cool shirts that show off convict lake.

Overall, LOVED THIS TRIP AND WILL BE COMING BACK!

There is something spectral about this entire area. And this campground is rt in the center of it. Super clean with spectacular views. Restrooms and trash service. Varieties of campsites. It can get a bit windy, so be prepared. Convict Lake provides an amazing easy hike as well as a beautiful paddle. Fishing too. Whichever you’re into. They also offer boat and kayak rentals. Very close to Mammoth, which is great for cell service and supplies. Also close to hot creek which is full of wild hot springs (please be respectful and don’t trash the springs plz!)

One of our favorites for many reasons...the view, the fishing, dog friendly and lease is required, which I appreciate, hiking, lots of good campsites to choose from for trailers and tents, some have the mountain view and others are right on the stream, and the camp host manager, he is awesome! Campground bathrooms are clean, have a sink and lights. No showers at the campground but you can to the resort and shower.

I booked this campground on a whim and it surpassed my expectations. It's beautiful - nestled within the Sierra Nevada mountains. The camp hosts keep the site immaculate, including the bathrooms with flush toilets. The sites are spread out and weren't at capacity, even over fourth of July week. There's a lot to do at the campground, like hiking and paddling the lake. There's also amenities on site, including a general store, restaurant, showers and laundry. Between the views and clean campsite, this may be the best campground I've ever stayed at.

Campsites are spacious have nice tent pads. They have views of the mountain and only a couple sites allow views of the lake. No hookups. Bathrooms are flush and meticulously clean. Great hiking in the area. Oh and dont forget your cash or check for the iron ranger. No apple pay here. If you need wifi walk over to the lodge. You can also get showers and do laundry there.

Convict Lake Campground is so scenic. Being able to camp with an amazing view of Mt. Laurel was really special. There isn't much shade so best to bring something to create some cover during the day. There are lots of deer roaming around who have become quite tame.

This turned out to be a very nice Campground. If you go make sure you check the map of the site locations. It seemed like up to about #20 were the really cool sites to me. From 21 to 59 are more out in the open and not much cover from the sun. Then 61 to 80 ish had some good coverage. The bathrooms were nice and clean. Real toilets and mirrors is always nice. The bear boxes were nice and big. We fit everything we needed and still had room to spair. Each site had a nice picnic table and deep fire ring. Having the store and resteraunt close were very cool. We were able to walk over and get some ice and little things we forgot. They also have 2 showers that run on tokens. There were deer absoulty everywhere and they were really use to people. The location as a whole is also nice because it's close to mammoth and a lot of good hiking trails.

Best camping ground we've been with my family year after year and never get tier of it.
Peaceful, in contact with nature and overall very clean. Lake is just in walking distance, clean clear water, we have so much fun.

Convict Lake is stunning any time, but in the fall, with the golden aspen leaves shimmering, it is almost sacred. There is a nice trail around the lake, a d the rock surrounding the lake itself is awe inspiring.

This campground is the best I've ever been to. Perfectly landscaped campsites with beautiful chaparral vegetation. Towards the center you start to see more lush greenery as the campsites are built around the creek. Walking distance from the lake, this campground is walking distance from many activities and always has a view of Mt Laurel. Quiet and peaceful, this serene campsite also has many deer that feel extremely comfortable roaming around the area.
