Heck Park

Flew my starter drone around for about an hour. Park was clean and quiet. A few people came and went over the lunch hour and everyone was pleasant. A nice quiet park just off 75 and Dixie.

This park was dedicated to the men and women who served in the Vietnam War. I was impressed by the monuments in the park. The Charlie gunship and the Cobra gun shop brought back many memories of my time in country.

Heck Park is a park which formerly was jointly owned and operated by the City of Monroe and Monroe County but is now under the sole ownership of Monroe County. A Vietnam Veterans Memorial has been developed at the site which is overseen by a special Heck Park Committee, which has members from the Park Commission, the County Board, and the Vietnam Veterans Chapter 142.

Heck Park has Parking, Restrooms, Pavilion seating approximately 30 adults, Trails, Playground, Basketball court, Sled Hill, Veteran's Memorial, Charcoal operated cooking grills available but has no electrical outlets.

Nice quick stop off the highway to see a Huey and a Cobra helicopter with mannequins flying them!

I found this a truly moving place. It was layed out very well with an actual Huely and Cobra Helicopter.

Great park with an excellent playground for the kids as well as a pavilion with picnic tables for get togethers or the family, also a hill for sledding so this can even be a great place to come in the winter after a good snow fall!

Absolutely wonderful park. Very well maintained. An honor as well to the great men and women who served in the US Armed Forces. Couple of cool helicopters, too.

This is a spot where we like to stop on our way from Michigan to visit family in Ohio. It is always peaceful, clean, and the memorial is inspiring. The dog likes to stretch his legs back in the field and it gives us a break as well.

Wonderful Vietnam War memorial Park! Small museum also located on the grounds, honoring the local men who served and died in the war. One genuine Huey gunship on display, a REAL Vietnam veteran, as well as an AH-1 Cobra, which isn't a genuine Nam vet...seems cobbled together, or they had to settle for what the Army gave them as phased out surplus. Nice paved paths to walk around and view other smaller displays. Overall, worth the visit. It is affiliated with the local Vietnam Veterans of America chapter.

The Viet Nam memorial sits just inside when you enter the park. It's a beautiful tribute. The park also has a sheltered picnic area and a playground. There is a big hill for sledding in the winter.

Went to battle in a pokemon go raid. A lot more people showed up than I expected. It was a great place to it only play as a smaller community group but the nature was gorgeous as well. Very comforting

So, here we were, 770-something days into pandemic. I finally have a car, and we go for our first drive! From Ann Arbor to Fazoli's, when we realise... no. Pasta and a "new" (used) car are NOT happening. "Let's find a park, we can eat there!" Google maps says there is a Heck Park around the corner. "Mama we HAVE to go!" Cheer my kids and teens!

Thus, we go. "Helicopters!!!!!!" Welp, that's instant approval from the youngest and oldest of our number. "Lookit all the fun stuff to climb on!" "Oh hey, a pavilion to eat in outta the sun!" Which was a boon, as it was almost 90°F.

A little something for everyone, and the best time were had by us all. Vietnam Memorial, playground, pavilion, easy parking, and right off the highway. Fantastic space, and I am so glad we found it!!!!

Nice park with real war memorabilia choppers etc.. it is always clean and grass cut. Nice picnic Pavillion. Sledding hill for winter walking path playground for kids.

Lovely little park! Clean; picnic tables; fancy playground for folks with kids. Few users the day we were there.

Great Vietnam Vets memorial park. They have a Huey and a Huey Cobra. Great little park in Monroe. If you get a chance check it out.
