Paul Bunyan Statue

One of several Paul Bunyan statues along historic Route 66 in Illinois. Thankful that the town illuminated the statue as we passed through during the evening. There is a nice park down the street, plus other historic sites within a one-block walking distance.

Almost missed this one as he is pulled back in the woods just a tad bit... Pretty cool along with the other big statues in town... A new giant museum is being built and will be opening soon... Al along old historic Route 66...

Paul Bunyan is pretty cool to see! He's holding a HotDog! Haha! It was used to promote a local business.
This Town of Atlanta has a ton of Route 66 history! We spent over an hour checkin out all the neat stuff here.
Definitely recommend stopping if near the area.

A true route 66 experience

Very nice in town attraction. Clean. Great for photo ops! The whole street is set up nice for Route 66 guests and other travelors.

This dude is HUGE!! One of 4 on our trip down Route 66.
This one is a must see!! It was the best kept of all the ones we visited. Lots of other things to do in walking distance while you are here. We were able to just pull off the street and park right in front of the statue.

A fine place for a photo op on Historic Route 66. Was a lot of fun taking pictures and reminiscing a bygone era.

Nice little town.

Cute town, enormous statue. Great kitsch factor. Stop into store across the street for Route 66 gifts, local goods and a fun museum (not the Atlanta museum). Didn't go to Atlanta museum.

Great to see this one! They replaced the axe with a hotdog and we all lol'd and had our picture made. Great town to stop in. Don't miss the grain elevator around the corner.

It's kinda creepy to be honest, but it was a fun little stop while we were passing through on the interstate. We just had to get a look at this piece of Americana.

The tourism director told me the city is getting more giants and is opening a giant museum. There are several other interesting attractions in Atlanta IL if you like history and Americana. There was no ticket / or cost here.

Obviously a must-photo Route 66 stop. Town museum, arcade museum, wonderful shop next door, etc. all make Atlanta a small town with lots of fun things to see and do!

It was exactly as expected, a definite Rt66 stop. We were there only about 20 minutes but saw several families/people from other countries visiting: Germany, France and Japan. It's a beautiful little corner of the world.
