Great local coffee spot right off Irving Park blue line stop in the Old Irving Park neighborhood. They have a huge selection of delicious pastries and goodies (banana bread is awesome!) and excellent coffee ☕ everyone working here is really friendly and welcoming. The place gets really busy in the morning on weekends but there’s lots of spots to sit. I also loved the artwork on display by Sarah E. Wain! So I posted it in the photos. Definitely my new coffee spot in the neighborhood.

Really friendly staff, enthusiastic and informative. I tried the spinach and caramelized onion quiche which is excellent in their microwave for 45 seconds and the vegan, olive oil orange donut both brilliant!

I recently visited Chicago for the first time and Backlot Coffee was the first coffee shop I went to. I was immediately impressed by the bright and airy atmosphere, and the friendly and welcoming staff. I ordered a cardamom rose oatmilk latte, which is now my new favorite coffee flavor. My mom ordered the oatmeal cookie latte, which she loved.
We also shared a blueberry donut, which was the perfect way to end our breakfast. The donut was fresh and soft, with a generous amount of blueberry throughout. I later learned that the donuts are made by a local bakery, which is always a plus.

I loved the artwork on the walls, which is for sale and created by a local artist. It was a nice touch that added to the overall charm of the coffee shop. I will definitely be returning to Backlot Coffee every time I visit Chicago.

This place has delicious items! I'm not a huge coffee drinker, but the iced oatmeal cookie latte is super delicious! Banana bread is wonderful too. The staff is always kind and friendly. Highly recommend

Love Backlot Coffee! The drinks are great and I love their donut selection. The overnight oats are really good too! They bring in rotating artists so there is always fresh art on the walls that is available for purchase.

They compost and recycle too!

This is a wonderful locally owned coffee shop with great coffee, homemade syrups, delicious food, and yummy sweets (including vegan and gluten free options). The vibe is very lively and the number of regulars that filter in and out all day are a testament to its standing in the neighborhood. There is ample FREE parking. Overall 5 stars!!

I come here almost every day!! Great prices, awesome rotating art from local artists, and the nicest baristas! I love their oatmeal cookie latte and haven’t seen that flavor anywhere else! A fabulous coffee shop for the community⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

I grew up with a love for cardamom through my great grandmother's Swedish coffee bread. To my surprise of walking up to the counter, I saw cardamom sweet rolls and cardamom rose latte which with your choice of milk. Their special which is called The Bloom, I don't remember exactly what type of coffee drink it was but it was made with rose and cardamom. My husband and I got bother drinks mine was the bloom with oat milk and his was the cardamom rose latte with whole milk. His drink was sweet and savory at the same time. It was more overly savory with the sweet rose flavor coming in the end. It was a nice change from overly sweetened coffee drinks from a well known chain that will not be named. The bloom was refreshing and light. I forgot to mentioned both were iced as the day was working it's way to the mid-80's.
As for pastries, the cardamom roll did not disappoint. We also got a glazed donut & ham & cheese croissant for the kid, an apple friter and two of the cardamom rolls. They do over a cinnamon sugar coated donut that is gluten free. I meant to ask if there were other gluten free items available but didn't get the chance or if the one item alternates with another.
The place is near Irving Park road by the metra station, a Lou Malnati's and a Potbelly sandwich shop.

Backlot Coffee, definitely one of the best coffee shops in Chicago. The location is very close to highway 90. Parking is kinda hard, however street parking is available. I wish the working hours were until 8pm on weekdays instead of 6pm. Would visit again. Loved their espresso. ☕👌😍

I love coming here before my weaving class. It's small and bustling but has a relaxed, friendly atmosphere that invites one to sit and enjoy their coffee before you get on with your day. The coffee is well made and the pastries are light and tasty.

Good place to have some coffee. Staff is patient yet inviting. Their is a handful of selections to choose from in the bakery goods. I was surprised that they offer Do-rite donuts here for purchase. I bought a donut and espresso for just over $6 which is average on pricing. Inside decor is nicely illuminated but a little bit tight so dining in may not be an option. Overall a good place to visit.

Today was my first time visiting Backlot Coffee - Avondale location. Even though I am not a coffee drinker, I had a delicious mint tea and oat milk hot cocoa with a spinach/feta croissant. The staff was super sweet for the 2 hours I was there on my Zoom meeting. Free, secure wifi was a plus. I will definitely be back again. Customer service was superb and the overall ambience was spot on with great music too. Thank you! :)

Came here one day before hopping on the train and I’ve been coming back ever since. My new favorite spot for a latte, I rave about it to all of my friends and bring as many new people here when possible. I love supporting small local businesses especially when their coffee is this great. They also offer oat milk, which is a bit hard to find coffee shops that do, so I definitely recommend ordering it with your coffee if you’re looking for a good alternative to milk! Staff is also super friendly and very welcoming.

Small shop with lots of in and out customers. Seating is not great, but ok. Coffee is good, banana bread had granulated sugar that i can chew, which is not ok for my taste.

Friendly staff, delicious coffee and a beautifully decorated and tasty Rice Krispy treat. The spinach quiche was filling with a delectable, flakey crust.

When looking for Blacklot Coffee initially I could not find it until I walked around Irving Park to Avondale. Once I did find it, it was easy to spot. I was greeted by three very pleasant gentlemen. I ordered a hot chocolate which tasted very good. The place was small... But if you're in old Irving stop by the Blacklot for a quick drink or pastry. You won't regret it.

Very friendly people working here. There's also a printer for your on-the-fly printing needs. Got a cardamom-rose latte; very good and they make their own rose syrup.
