Bayou Fresh Seafood & Deli

Just happened to stop get gas and was hungry. What followed was the best sushi experience I’ve had in America since coming back from Japan five years ago.

The fish is fresh and not cold, the rice actually tastes like sushi rice with a little bit of sweetness, and there is no dumb flair of extra spicy mayo and bbq lines all over the plate to cover up poor craftsmanship.

A treat.

Look, it’s the best seafood, and sushi place in Jasper. In fact, I have been around the world and this place is as good as any place I’ve ever been. The seafood is always fresh. Try the crab salad, you can’t miss. Great service. The ONLY problem, for some, is that it’s in a gas station. So, if you can get past the thought of “gas station sushi”, you will not be disappointed. Try! Try! Try!

One of those holes in the wall that is amazing! The sushi is boss,and some of the best you will find without spending a lot! Highly recommend the spicey tuna roll is excellent! The fish is great you can tell it is fresh like being at the coast!

When I rate this as hands down the best Cajón cuisine and Sushi 🍣 house in a two state radius, believe it to be true. Very cosy, small interior, but don't be fooled by the location. Extremely friendly and knowledgeable servers, owners are the best, and watching the wife's hands expertly create my eel Nigiri and other delicious plates was an absolute pleasure. I definitely also recommend the Gator Po'boy. 10/10/10. Put this place in your GPS and enjoy, but not on Sunday or Monday - the two days this amazing place takes a rest.

I visited Jasper in April 2023, and had been told by many people I needed to make sure I ate some gas station sushi. A couple of coworkers that I had met in Jasper took me out to eat at Bayou Fresh Seafood and it did not disappoint. I was a little apprehensive considering the state of the outside of the building, but the restaurant itself was very clean and well ran.

When my friend suggested we go eat "gas station sushi" I laughed at him. Little did I know I was about to be introduced to a secret treasure that has the local "in the know" people filling its seats.
Yes, you go into the gas station doors, but then you go through a second door, and you're in a small diner feel set up. EXCEPT there is a sushi station and all kinds of fresh fish on ice off to the right. It's seat yourself deal. The servers were friendly and good at what they do. We each ordered a roll and shared. After tasting them, we kept ordering more rolls! Each one was a fresh, satiating, joy filled experience. I shall never laugh about "gas station sushi" again and look forward to being a regular.

The location will make you think twice, but the food is fantastic. We only got sushi, and loved our rolls. I dont think you could go wrong. The smoked tuna dip was amazing, a great starter. Will return!

Ok ... It's located adjacent to a gas station....but it's NOT part of it!! Separate room....just attached within the same building. Fantastic sushi!! Fresh and tasty concoctions will not disappoint you!! I'm just passing thru. I live on Florida's Gulf Coast....home of some fabulous sushi and seafood restaurants. This little place is competitive from a taste, freshness, originality of their rolls. Try it...I guarantee you won't be disappointed!!

This place may be small and hard to find (it's located inside a sevice station on Walston Bridge Road) however they serve the best fish and seafood in the town of Jasper. I ordered the red snapper and shrimp meal which came with 4 sides and it was excellent. The red snapper filets were thick and fried to perfection and the shrimp were jumbo sized. My sides were fries, cole slaw, hush puppies and 2 spring rolls. All were excellent. This place is very busy since they have call ins, dine in, and carry out so expect to wait 20 to 30 minutes on your order but it was well worth the wait. Also the price is a little high but I will dine here again.

Worth the almost hour drive for me. Fresh and flavorful. Combo included miso and salad. Be sure to tip the sushi chef and the wait staff.

Awesome sushi!! Will definitely change your mind about gas station sushi. Nice people. Availability of other seafood as well. Good variety on kids plates. My kids ask to go to the gas station restaurant a lot.

I always get the Crunchyroll and summer roll and oh my God this is the best place ever! The staff is always nice and very helpful and my food is always delicious! I can't wait for my next visit! Two of the pictures I forgot to take before I dug in LOL but the last two pictures I caught myself LOL

Very good food with just an ok atmosphere. Food is good enough for a stand-alone location and not inside a convenience store. Also very small so pick your times to visit as there may not be a table available. Describing it as quaint may be a bit too kind. Also very expensive for the amount of food you receive but as I said the food is good.

This place is a hole on the wall. My coworker and me weren’t sure about this place since it is inside a gas station. But let me tell y’all... this place is awesome.
From the service (I cannot remember our servers name) but both times we went service was top notch, to the food which is so good!!! Highly recommend this place. Great food, service and good price for the portions you get.

You may not think twice about going to a sushi joint attached to a 'rundown' gas station, but you should. This place is amazing. You can't beat the prices and the fish are delivered fresh everyday. I came here at the suggestion of a hotel receptionist and it was a great decision.

I ordered the chef's salad and it came full of every fish meat I could imagine and included some lettuce and other Japanese things. This will forever be my go-to place in Jasper.

Never underestimate the local dive! Don’t let the gas station location dissuade you! We arrived with less than a hour to close. Only one table available. The servers had their hands full. The food was excellent! We were very pleased that we found this place. Go! Enjoy!

This place is legit. It's not much to look at, but the Sushi, Shrimp Po Boy, and Hush Puppies were delicious. Best food I've had in Jasper.

About 6-7 years ago I was picking up food from here while I was waiting at the bar the guy asked me if I had ever had sushi he was making a roll at the time he said here try this I said what is it he said I will tell you after you eat it well I eat it and it was great and now 6 years later I’m still going back for the eel roll
