Great Harvest Bread Company-Chapel Hill near Whole Foods - Chapel Hill. We had never been to GHBC before, and even though they typically close by 5pm, we saw they were still open, so we went in. We were immediately greeted by Amy Kelly who is the NEW owner (along with her business partner). She was so excited to tell us about it! We never realized this place was a little restaurant as well as a bakery. I always assumed it was just a bread outlet of some kind. Amy and her partner will continue keep the GHBC tradition going serving up fresh baked bread loaves, rolls, assorted biscuits, cinnamon rolls, made to order sandwiches, etc as well as coffee, tea and lots of other beverages. We took home a fresh challah bread loaf compliments of Amy which was so darned nice of her!! And man, was it fresh, soft and delicious! It smelled so good we started eating it in our way home. 😂 Now that we’ve been there for the first time, we will definitely be back to support this wonderful gem of a bakery and the terrific new owners.

Friendly staff and super fresh baked goods, especially the various breads! Their cookies and scones are wonderful too. Love the community vibe they create!

Absolutely love my visits into Great Harvest. The breads are all amazing in their own right, then my personal favorite snack of the lemon scones today just make for a great start to the weekend. Love the folks that own and run this place - they are just the kindest people you’ll meet.

The best bakery that Chapel Hill has to offer. They have a large variety of fresh breads that are baked daily, and a myriad of delicious pastries. My personal favorites are the cinnamon buns with freshly whipped frosting, the round loaf cinnamon chipped bread, which is excellent for french toast, and their blueberry lemon pound cake which never survives a day in my household. The owners are warm and friendly, which makes you feel like you were visiting family members instead of shopping.

The best bread anywhere, hands down. Unless you are an expert baker and can bake it at home, you will not find better bread. Great selection. No dough conditioners-- it's just fresh. They use a little honey in the dough, which keeps it moist and prevents molding. It never lasts long enough at my house to go stale or mold anyway.

I highly recommend them! I have always enjoyed their bread and cookies, but today I had a FANTASTIC tuna salad sandwich for lunch. It was just excellent.

First experience here today and my father and I really loved the sandwiches! Bread was great! The lady who helped me was super personable and over all I had a great experience! Will be back!

Great Harvest Bread is the best when it comes to customer service and quality bread and pastries! I purchased a King Cake from them this morning (Mardi Gras) that barely lasted a couple of hours at the office. For those who are not familiar with this delicacy, it is the signature cake for Fat Tuesday. I originally ordered one from a baker in Raleigh because I planned to pick it up on my way to my gym there after work Monday evening. Due to the inclement weather, I was unable to drive out to Raleigh to pick up the cake so I canceled my order. I found this place online and called to determine if they could have a King Cake available for me the following morning. and left a voicemail message for Great Harvest on Monday evening with a request to pick up a King Cake in the morning. I went to bed with my fingers and toes crossed. At 7:30 a.m. I received a call from someone at the bakery to notify me that they were placing a cake in the oven for me at that moment.

It was absolutely THE best King Cake I had ever tasted - it was moist, delicious and just sweet enough. The cake was made using brioche bread, which I usually find to be quite dry to the taste, but this one was absolutely perfect. One of my coworkers who is a picky eater actually went back for seconds. I actually wished I had picked up a second cake for the office. Several people asked me where I purchased the cake, and I had no hesitation in telling them it was Great Harvest. I'll probably pick up another one for a post-Mardi Gras dinner party this weekend. Thanks for helping me score points at the office Great Harvest!

The only place I buy bread. This bread doesn't mold easily but also freezes beautifully. The owners are friendly, helpful, and just great folks to do business with. I love this store.

GHBC is not the first place that comes to mind when I think fast sandwiches, but it should be. Their sandwiches and loaves are amazing and fresh. The employees are really nice and funny.
