Beautiful place, I got there as it was raining, so it was not a big crowd. Hard to capture some of the real beauty of the place without getting a birds eye view, but drones aren't allowed. Small hike up to the top to get a different viewpoint but it's a built path with wooden stairs and handicap accessible.

This is your first stop in Yellowstone (tickets to the park are $35 per vehicle for 7 days) if you are entering from the north. Stunning!!! This is a wonder! Spend 4- 5 hours if you want to do all loops (boardwalk). Lots to see and learn.

One of the first large features to welcome you into the park from the north entrance. There is an upper and lower level to view here. Stay on the boardwalks and don't touch anything. We visited here in 2006 and again this summer and it was wild to see how much it has actually dried up in the past 18 years.

⭐⭐⭐⭐

Mammoth Hot Springs in Yellowstone, WY, is truly a mesmerizing natural wonder. The large complex of travertine hot springs, formed over thousands of years, showcases stunning terraces and pools created by calcium carbonate deposition from hot water. The unique beauty of this geological formation is simply awe-inspiring.

To visit Mammoth Hot Springs, there's a $35 entrance fee per vehicle to Yellowstone National Park, which is reasonable given the experience it offers. It's important to note that during the summer months, temperatures can soar, and the trails often lack shade. To fully enjoy your visit, bring plenty of water, wear a hat, and apply sunscreen. Despite the heat, the breathtaking sights at Mammoth Hot Springs make it an essential stop for anyone exploring Yellowstone's wonders.

Beautiful place in Yellowstone. Make sure to learn about the sciences behind it, and it then becomes even more stunning. Lots of boardwalks to beautiful springs. Definitely a place you must come when visiting Yellowstone

A large complex of hot springs located next to Mammoth Hot springs village near the North Entrance. Amazing colorful travertine terraces should not be missed when visiting Yellowstone National Park.

Cool feature at Yellowstone that is very beautiful and easy to get to. Nature at it's most amazing everywhere you look. Animals have the right of way and today at these hot springs, we could not visit the upper pools as a few elk had decided to take a rest right on the path up. We didn't mind as it was a treat to see these beautiful animals.

The beauty of nature is pure and endless. We've witnessed it with our own eyes and felt it with our own bodies.

Our journey led us to Mammoth Hot Springs, one of the most iconic and fascinating geothermal features in Yellowstone National Park, providing visitors with a unique opportunity to witness the power and beauty of geothermal activity. With its stunning terraces, vibrant colors, and fascinating geological formations, Palette Spring, in particular, showcases a range of hues, including brilliant whites, yellows, oranges, and browns, creating a visually stunning spectacle.

There was a series of boardwalks and viewing platforms that allowed visitors to explore the terraces up close.

Mammoth Hot Springs, like all areas of Yellowstone National Park, is protected as a UNESCO World Heritage Site and is subject to strict conservation measures. Visitors are reminded to stay on designated trails and boardwalks to protect the fragile thermal features and to ensure their safety.

We spent hours enjoying the beauty of Mammoth Hot Springs and left with hearts full of wonderful experiences.

My family and I went here and it was a great experience. It is very different from the other hot springs in Yellowstone. The boardwalk around it made it very easy to walk the entire site.

A must-see spot in Yellowstone! One of the better highlights. Parking close by. Boardwalk trail that traverses through the sight. Awesome.

If you make it to the north entrance for the Yellowstone, the mammoth Hot Springs are only five minutes from the entrance you can get out. There is a walkway that takes you up the trail maybe a 1015 minute walk there are handrails did not see any wheelchair accommodations really cool to see. We saw it in the winter with a lot of snow so you can see where the snow melted and where the hot springs were.

A couple hot tips before I start:
- there are two parking areas to explore these features; use both as the walk down/up the trail is not for the faint of heart (my wife has a prosthetic hip and we parked at the lower parking area, went up the boardwalk and I think she thought I was trying to murder her, thankfully she made it).
- as mentioned while it is boardwalk (mostly) it is a fairly challenging walk if you do the whole thing. It is worth seeing it all but if you have kiddos or a loved one that may not be a fan of stairs, use both upper and lower basin parking lots.

I was very excited to show my wife this spot as it was a favorite on my first trip to Yellowstone and this was her first trip. Many various features and formations, truly beautiful.

I will say that Canary Spring at the top was not as breathtaking as it was during my first visit so that made me a bit bummed. However, I’m a big rock nerd so it was all so super cool to me!!!

Lots of elk in the area which was a welcomed site after the arduous hike, we also saw a lone antelope as we headed on our way out of the park to the north.

Such gorgeous formations! I clocked two miles walking around all the boardwalks. Spectacular views of the town from the top!

Just an amazing place to visit. Lots of volcanic pools. Boiling water and steam, superb sulphur scent everywhere.
Easy to navigate path ways.

Love exploring new things. We went 2nd week of April and only the top part is open in yellowstone. Owner I'm Cooke said do not go in the summer. Sometimes, it takes 2-3 hrs just to get into the park. Best time, mid-May or mid-September if you don't want to be in hr long lines bit it is beautiful.

This place is spectacular with all the color and terraces but it stinks because of the sulfuric acid coming out of the steam. You walk thru a boardwalk for safety reason. There are stairs for the upper area. Its a must see whenever you will be in Yellowstone.

Always loved visiting Mammoth when I was a child. Glad to go back and see how it's changed over the years. I was happy my big truck could make the upper loop drive!

Mammoth Hot Springs is just one of many great places to stop in Yellowstone National Park. There are boardwalks and trails to explore the area. The facilities include a grocery, gift shop, restaurant, and bathrooms. Lots of parking, but it can get very busy in the summer. You can often see large elk laying in the grass. Please don't try petting them!
