Awesome place, beautiful views, nice weather and perfect company

This was my first time in this place, we came with your paddles and we were paddling around, I think we stayed on the water 2.5 hours approx, we took some breaks to drink water and eat snacks.

We started at 6pm and came back at 8:30, the water was too cold so make sure don’t fall from your paddle or kayak

No signal for calls or internet in this area.

The views that I saw are the most beautiful in my life

Also I noticed there is a trail for hike and during my paddling I saw some people on the top of some rocks because were hiking

I recommend this please for any activity such as camping, kayaking, paddling, use your own grill for burgers.

At the end of our paddle My wife use the restroom in order to change clothes but the smell was terrible (I know this is normal in every single place) but my point is that there is a restroom for any situation.

We drove 45 min from west haven to this place but the driving is great cause you can see a lot of views, we thought we were 20 min driving when we arrived to this point.

Did a hike here 6/14/23 and it was so beautiful! Seeing some of the photos from just last year and how low the water was is insane! The water was full and the scenery was so green and bursting with life! We’ll definitely be back to hike this. Also, it’s worth mentioning, we took 4 kids on this hike! Ages ranging from 6-12 and theh did awesome! There was only one part at the end where the trail was a little narrow and there was a hill it was on but if you go slow it’s fine.

The only bummer was that someone was camping at the end of the hike, so the best view was taken up by them and we felt awkward walking into their campground. I don’t think people should be able to camp at the end of a trail.

Head up to see the Salmon Spawning at Causey reservoir. There are two ways you can get there. One is via the trail and the other is on a paddleboard or kayak. We took our paddle boards and it was absolutely incredible. We parked in the parking lot on the south entrance and because the water is low we did have to walk for quite a distance but it was worth it. There was a ton of mud so I would recommend wearing water shoes that won’t fall off too keep your feet protected. Once we got to the right spot we did have to hike up the creek to see the salmon but it was very easy.

We went mid July, we got there at 8am the parking was already full. No one on the trail. It’s a one person trail. Take water. There are shaded spots but there was a patch that wasn’t and that was very hot even at 10am. It’s so nice you can see all the kayaks and people jumping into the water. We left at 11:30 and the parking and road to leave was insane. Be very careful and ready to wait a while. There is a shared bathroom but it wasn’t kept very nice.

Nice trail year round! Need snowshoes or spikes for the winter. There was a moose at the top of skullcrack 02/25 so beware!
Also parking lot for this trailhead at the base is snowed in but its not a long walk from the other parking spots.

Nice hike to see the salmon running. Trail is moderate and climbs a bit in both directions. A bit rocky and narrow. Views are nice especially in the autumn. Mostly sunny so remember the sunscreen.

This is an awesome lake. If your going on the weekend get there early for good parking. It’s free and no motorboats are allowed. The Water is pretty cold.

Went in the fall, the water was kind of low. Hiked to see the salmon swimming up stream, should have brought other shoes because we wanted to follow the stream. Great hike up hill, some tricky spots near the edge with beautiful views. Some tree covered parts and some more open areas. Would go again.

A favorite hike for our ohana, we explore this every year. A restroom is available at the parking area. Dog-friendly trail.

This is an easy trail to hike. It is fun. Bring water to drink and wear sunscreen because you are in the open exposed to the sun.

Skull Crack Trailhead is an ideal place to launch a paddleboard or kayak into Causey Reservoir. The paddle to cliff jumping (Skull Crack Rock) and rope swining isn't far and the views only get better from their (going eastbound into the channels).

The rocks, water, and scenery is stunning but recede quickly in the summer and remain low through autumn.

Thousands of butterflies and dragonflies migrate through this area, making it feel like a secluded, magical paradise in the early summer.

Quiet, calming, peaceful. It is just simply a wonderful hike. Not rigorous at all. Beautiful views.

During the snow season I recommend bringing snow shoes. Though the path is narrow using your poles can be a hassle but it is a good nice trail. I can't say it will be easy.

Great hike in to see the spawning salmon (begins early September). About 5 miles round trip. Some steep parts but nothing too bad

Great easy trail with spectacular views. Trail is a little narrow, so passing other hikers can be a little tricky in some spots. Parking lot does fill up fast even by 7am on a Sunday.
