Mama Chavez's Taqueria

Mama Chavez's Taqueria in Leroy, New York is simply amazing. From the excellent service at the counter, to fresh and delicious cooking in the kitchen, to fantastic food at the table, I really enjoyed my Saturday afternoon dinner here. The family is pleasant and generous, and the food delivers. The salsa was a bit different than what I am used to, but was really fresh and good. I need to try it again. I really liked it. The tacos are crisp and light. Best chips I've had in Western New York. Salsa might be too. Highly recommend. Flavor and value make this place among the best in Central to Western NY.

This was outstanding home style Mexican food at its best.
It was as if mama Chavez invited us into her kitchen and served a meal - her sons were super hospitable and friendly. It was good value for money and it sure was tasty.
Nachos and quesadillas were great - and the churros with caramel was a good surprise and done spectacularly well.
We loved it.

They only take cash - so go prepared. They have an ATM on premises which charges some insane fees

We had a group lunch in the downstairs.
They are wheelchair accessible. The owners are very friendly and have made the experience very pleasant. This is located in an older building but is very clean and relaxed.

Jose is a chill dude, the nachos are massive portions, and the prices aren't bad. Since moving to the area for an assignment, we started looking for some good Mexican food. Being from Texas, we are admittedly a bit picky, but Mama Chavez manages to deliver.

If you are a new resident, are passing through, or you are a local oldie and just haven't tried them yet...well, I think it's time to make a stop!

This is a GEM! Must stop to enjoy. (Homemade hot sauce warning to all) Went back for my bday and notice many new items on the menu I need to try. Of course I wanted everything 5*s My Favorite is the Street Toco combo with fresh guacamole and the Fiesta Bowl. Don't forget to try the Dessert Empanadas

We were in the area and randomly picked a restaurant…this was fabulous! Small town, personal service, excellent food. I can’t have tomatoes so no salsa for me, but the waiter assured me the guacamole had no tomatoes in it👏. It was the most flavorful guacamole ever!!! I got the veggie bowl, the veggies were raw (not sautéed in tons of oil), those raw jalapeños were it!!❤. Great flavor, quick service. My husband got the “El Jefe” burritto😂. It was huge!! Holy homemade hard shells!
This place is the real deal.
Had Beef, a Steak, and a Chicken Taco with the works on it: Cilantro, Onion, Choice of Cheese( Queso), and Tomato. Sour Cream, Guacamole, Hot Sauce on the side. Everything was amazing and fresh.
Worth the drive. Currently take-out only. Family run. My new Taco Tuesday Favorite!

Best Mexican food since i lived in Brooklyn. The salsa was PERFECT. Tacos were great. And the Churros were warm and amazing. Looking forward to my next trip.

Have you ever driven 40 minutes just for Mexican food? I have and I'll do it again. I have decent Mexican food around me in the Rochester area, but nothing like the food at Mama Chavez's. I don't consider anything near me "authentic" but if you walk into this place, you're gonna find a family. A family that knows what Mexican food is supposed to taste like. A family that understands how to give you enough food to satiate your appetite. Give their service and food a try and you won't be disappointed.
